It's to save time, basically. SVT can hone the act before the artists arrive and give their own input on it.
Wonderful Agnete felt the pressure immensely during Eurovision - and was unable to perform all the normal tasks unfortunately. Josephine did an absolutely tremendous job in this rehearsal however!

Nonsense, don't know why this was loved by this channel either. It was a stand-in performance, technical and not the in the moment emotion of Agnete.

Why people are singing the song of the orthers?
So producers can see how the actual performance will look. They start to build the presentation and the stage from long before the artists come to the host country

Iphyn Lee What? Why you said that? Everybody loved how Agnete change the last note alive, and did it again in 2017 Norway selection. Her performance was great and better than this girl, also this girl has a bad english, it sounds too forced and lack of feelings.
The M She didn't make it because people were saying things like "it's like two songs in one" or things about that change of beats per minute, nothing against Agnete skills.
Agnete's semi performance was really great, I feel she was even deeper into it than the national final.

It's a technical stand-in performance. Agnete lived that moment on stage in the semi, from the inward verses to the outpouring.

I don´t think you really understand what a stand-in rehearsal is. Before the artists arrive the stage, the camera crews, lights, sound all that stuff needs to be prepared, so students from music academies sing the songs like this, so as much as possible is arranged before the artists arrive and make their adjustments. They do the show a great service that saves the artists, and everyone working around them a lot of time, to have as much as possible prepared for them when they arrive. Bringing in every main artist in days or weeks in advance, would just not be possible for everyones schedule.
