This is Impunity of the highest level 😭😭This will leave many young people jobless 😥😥
i think Kenya is being run by the most idiotic leadership on earth, people come to your offices n you gladly approve their structers n you give then the leeway n proper documentation, 5yrs later you come back n destroy their heard earned lively hood.If the government agency's were played why not start with those in charge from nema to city council n make them reimburse the investors money. We are a country that depends on the private sectors yet our offices are smeared with graft, how are we supported to improve our confidence with our investors with unaccountability...by the way why was taj mall spared n yet it was build on road reserves??????
the approval could be a corrupt process
Reimbursements for illegal things ? You're definitely smokin something.
Maichjackdaniels Maichjackdaniels boss why are the investors not going to claim back from the officials,it's because they know they were corrupt in application. They should go give names of those approving then the government will take action on them.
Right thought!
Government will take action on Government. Hmm. I have never seen a single NEMA officials face or mention of any NEMA officials name in ANY of these scandals - Solai, Ukay, Mau etc... you name it.
Never.
Arrest all NEMA officers who gave licences to this business entities to locate premises in reparian areas. The corrupt officers should be handed adeath sentence.Demolitions should however continue to save this country from greed.
go build in Punjab. Jinga kabisa. These demolitions must go on mpaka mwisho. Equally government officials responsible for issuing illegal permits must face the law. @citizen tv, your reporter needs to go back to reporting school!
Aki hawa wahindi navile tunahustle nao gulf😂😂🤣
Taj mall should follow Asap....cant wait...
linda kathure ..this where I work.....hope noooo
BOMOA YOTE ! I support gov on pulling down this building on raparian lands and roads reserves...
Nema is Nema... wakiwa kwa office... but once umemuita kwa giza muongee ukishikilia bahasha... this is the results.. government is not aware of this
This country is consumed by poor politics. Everything is politicized in the expense of human lives.
Abdi Hussein well said bro
This demolition is costing many Kenyans jobs, now what plan does the government has for those who lost their jobs, they have families to take care of. huu si ugwana hata kidogo.
this is worsening the living stardard of poor kenyans n this big people they dont feel about the poor ones depending on waandi atleast wao wajenga hata kama ni river can we eat those sewage rivers
Ukay does not have a basement parking.
steward tours 😅😅basement cmmon man!
The big question is, who sold that land to the investor? He should refund the money and go to jail for grabbing public land. Nema oficials who approved the construction should also pay back the loss an investor is going to incure.
We should not be Happy when all these is happening.. This government is not helping his people.
Very sad
it should happen...and this is very welcomed. you cry people are stealing, corruption and all that. Yet, when something is being done you complain it shouldnt be happening. Im pro-Demolish
True
i keep hearing people complaining that they demolish before the notice period is over. If that is so, that sucks.
This is going to be a living lesson not only for corrupt people but also all Kenyans at large.
Its a lesson to those who don't follow the law....... Investment laws and regulations should be exercised !
I agree the structures should come down. However, the government should compensate traders. Where was the government when these structures were coming up
Nothing like compensation. These so-called businessmen have bribed officials in the county government for years. They have caused enough damage to the environment. Waende!
"Well such a good question of where was the government "You just forget that we were in almost 24 years of dictatorship whereby if you raised your voice,it was either you find yourself in the grave or torture in the nyayo house.
People are going to loose the jobs but on the other hand let them clear the mess of 24years back which is not easy.
The *A.A.K (Architectural association of Kenya)* should be all over the place right now advising kenyans on the benefits of hiring an good architects in order to avoid such a dilemma in future. Building by-laws are there for a reason!
This has nothing to do with good or bad architects - this has to do with enforcement of zoning and environmental laws.
the reporter seems over dramatic n not settled with facts. poor reporting
odhiambo otieno in fact I wanted to comment on him
odhiambo otieno THIS is very unprofessional
Oooh my. ..exactly my thoughts
My exact sentiments
odhiambo otieno ..may be its because of the noise behind him....he thinks he bulldozer may land on him too
How can a serious investor have confidence of putting a business in Kenya.....????
Tabitha Nduta a serious investor will be able to invest in a genuine manner and never go wrong..not being conned into wrong investments. A serious investor won’t use shortcuts to get what he/she wants.
Boniface Omariba nooo most of them are foreigners coming to invest in our country and after a short time their businesses are put down ...but behind all this is corruption bringing down billions
Tabitha Nduta That’s the point. Blame it on who they landed on to initiate them into any investment. Rules are rules. Blame it selfish Kenyans who mislead them.
Boniface Omariba but I feel like crying aki imagine all that cash being swept down
How can any serious investor bribe his way to fake documents and fake approvals? You seem not to realize the environment and rule of law are more important than $$$.
Honestly i hope this Government will do more important things with this Land after demolition.
Whoever approved the the building's which are under demolition should pass to jail before going home....the owners are innocent...
Bomoa yote. This is a lesson. This guy has run to the courts to bribe some magistrate to issue a court order. Tafadhali kuja Taj mall. Imeleta jam nyingi pipeline. Tuone hawa wahindi na racism yao watasema nini? You come to kenya to dispose your corrupt money. Its a pity how our financial system is susceptible to money laundering. Go to somalia, South sudan or elsewhere. South Sudanese real estate business should also be watched closely. If they build big buildings/malls on illegal land zibomolewe. If they build on genuine land then give it back to the people of SS. Blood money should never be accepted in Kenya.
You're right bur you sounded so bitter bro? I hope it's nothing to do with thing's n personal levels.
so true
Stevey Kimson If you calculate the time i have lost in traffic in the outering road. I think it rounds up to approximately 96 hours. This when divided by 12 hours a day rounds up to a whooping 8 days. 8 days sitting in a car doing nothing but waste of fuel. You can see this happenning to all people in Embakasi. A whole economy is being dragged down by hungry tycoons. The whole of Kenya has the same issue. Traffic Traffic Traffic!
Also the Sudanese and Somalis are building big projects but their money comes from their war torn countries. People there don't have food, water or good health. They make prices of land to skyrocket. We Kenyans can't own land in some places in kenya because a Somali comes and buys that land at a price 10 times the value of the land. If you say that is foreign investment then we need to educate Kenya. We need to investigate the sources of money coming to kenya from our neighbours. I am glad the USA saw this and warned Kenya.
Bigsmoke 2 kweli ukora iishe kenye...
But the same people demolishing approved the construction of the buildings in the first place.I can imagine the pain of this guy, do you know how much it means to lose such kind of investment? It's not fair at all bro
Scaring investors away...Mr veeral well spoken
Emmanuel Juma how is tht so !
So you build on a river you are not an investor but a thief for future generations of this country
If investors will come to build on top of rivers, let them be scared to death!
Emmanuel Juma they should be scared...they should come and do business in a clean way...No short cuts...
Huyu fala anasema hakuna sheria Kenya awekwe ndani ya hyo building abomolewe pamoja na hyo building
Daniel Daniels 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂
si aende india kwenye kuna sheria fala yeye
Huyu mhindi nini mbaya na yeye, you are right its not a stream but that area was a swamp till you put up the building.Wabomea aki..........
Why are they increasing unemployment, stop this silly game.
This is a good move.
The structural plans for building on top of a river can only be applicable in Venice not in Kenya.
fair reporting, focus on telling the story coherently and not at the on going demolition. Room for improvement
Good let put it down this all this nonsense
*OMG..UKAY TENA*
How can this really happen, I consider it inhumane, people have invested all their wealth here and has offered opportunities to local people, who thru this families could Be brought up in the right manner, some of this buildings don't interfere with the stream to Be realistic something is behind this all,,,,
No one wl b buried wth property, let's build our environment, imagine those buildings they affect even the winds, smtms there is no air, congrats government
Taj mall should be next
Kenya is a paperless nation.. Birth certificate, title deed, degree, kcpe, kcse, court order.... its just an A4.. but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven (outside kenya) , where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal
Demolish all illegal buildings that have been brought up by dirty money and send professional reporter's like Stephen Letoo on scenes like this ,the one on the ground is a joke
So, demolition has been going on almost a week now and someone still has a car inside the mall? Surely Kenians!
Samuel Wangatia u don't luck things to complain have u been to ukay mall it has no basement parking do your homework.bomoa for a better tomorrow for your kids when going to buy genuine land with no cartels.
Hahaha wahindi mtajua hamjui hebu enda kwenu uhuru atajenga mall zake za serikari
Good.....The Indian man is telling lies...There is a river below that building...It is on riparian land Ms Mathai was against this buildings...The investors who come and do clean business don’t have to worry...Kenyans can do this businesses not only Indians...Infact in a more humane manner...Wahindi are racist and bad employers...These people did not deserve to be given citizenship.
Seriously .....more than 300 Kenyans are losing their jobs now.....
abdiaziz mohamud 😢😢😢😢
abdiaziz mohamud so? Muindi arudi kwao that's all
We're losing much more valuable environment and rule of law.Between 300 jobs and healthy environment for thousands of people i'll opt for the latter 100% of the time.
Wee mhindi enda kwenu wacha ufala huku ni Kenya how can you build on the top of river
James Gathaiya stop with your racist remarks mate.. hio ujinga wacha
James Gathaiya 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😀
Mr James we must be very careful with the word's we speak because it might affect us n future sir
waende kwao
Comrade John wewe unajuwa kwenu, uliza wazazi wako vizuri b4 useme wengine waende munaeza patana huko
The traders and owners are two different entities for human sake at least give the traders at least 48 hrs and then bomowa. This stinks of malice 🤭
How many kenyans young and old has lost their jobs.
How will they pay their Dues and make up their lives.
Again years of building day of demolision whats up kenya..
come people lets reason together and come up with solution
To the goverment where those building are what are you planning to setup yourselves??
It's called Riparian. And riparian rights allows the property owner to navigate the river.
Investors (Foreigners) ati what are they going to think..Waaaa Kenya all your land is going to Investors and the Kenyan tutawachwa ngooo!! Bila kitu ndio mtatambua...
This mall keeps flooding. It just has to go down because it's endangering peoples lives.
Sad
Good job Kenya
If it was done to prevent a disaster and loss of life on Solai Dam levels, then even though it is quite painful for the owners, maybe in the end it works out for the best.
hav he said no roles in the country????this is my country rudi gulf n build
Team Uhuru ruto chapa kazi utajua hujui
Move.... out of the way.
nakumat ukay has basement parking?
People are loosing jobs.
So people should stop building on the repariam land. # stop corruptionin ke.
Otieno Sagao Losing
Otieno Sagao please read on Angela new comment is for a better tomorrow.boss
Kenya Kenya Kenya may God help our Leaders. Because it is too much.
This investors should follow proper law before getting legit approval.and the government should jail those deal brokers who work among government agencies.its bad to see billions being trashed like this just because someone somewhere was bribed.
are we chasing away wahindis wah.. next taj mall.. wooi
But atleast give traders time to remove their stuff ...
KENYANS PUT THEIR RESOURCES TOGEHTER AND INVEST IN THIS KIND OF BUSINESSES.
its difficult to watch your Investment going down like this,
This people wamebride courts but this isnt right unahesabu ni watu wangapi wamekuwa unemployed kwa io harakati and still the cost of living inaendelea kupanda no one anataka kuajiri mtu ju ajui at the end of the day atamlipa nn and now over 200 people wamepoteza job With a blink of an eye so sad
The government officials broke the law by AUTHORISING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE BUILDING ,,, EVEN IF THEY WERE BRIBED ITS THE NEMA OFFICIAL WHO FAILED, NO SOMEONE HAS LOST MILLIONS AND MANY MORE LOST THEIR JOBS
Mrahamedmalik you know that building had stalls right and those stalls had to stuff za kuuza n they didn't sell themselves a friend of mine alikuwa, ameandikwa kwa kuuza electronics n now shes jobless
And to those saying we are scaring investors,
If investors will come to build on top of rivers let them be scared to death 💀!!
Why are you conveniently not telling us how much you paid as bribe to get necessary approval to to erect an illegal building
Kusema na kutenda ya jubilee, but sikujua wako seriaz ivi.mnaweza walai.
Everyone says, we have not been issued with any notice to vacate, we have all the paper work... they forget to mention that we bribed to get the paperwork and we fed the notices into the shredder. If you obtain something illegally, just know one day it will go full circle and hurt you
Go to the indian temple opposite
tunangoja!!!!
Why did it take sooo looong.....no favours even if someone is.....💰💰💰💲💲💵💴💷💶
Yes poor reporting and biased towards questioning very poor
Those who where employed what will government do to them.
Good job govt. Those who have regaly permits. Mtsnjua serikali hsina huruma kwa ufisadi hii
this wahindi,s always use shortcuts. after this go get those running hospitals. the things they do!! we survive under God"s Grace
Waa
While what is being done is probably right, what concerns me the most is not these building owners. Its the NEMA officials who pretend to be protectors of the environment + urban planners who approve these buildings and investments. Can they be exposed by the media so that we can see the faces who are truly responsible - they are always hidden somewhere in the background in close door parliamentary hearings. To me, Its not these Indians who are ultimately responsible. Its NEMA & govt agencies.
Now you want to convince people that you're demolishing all these buildings but my question is where were you when they started and why now.??????
Jane Njoroge
They were in Government of impunity.Hapa ni Uhuru na Sonko wakiwa kazi.
Jane Njoroge Jane Kwanza soma corruption ni nini then ask again
God is the true Judge
How about the giant hindu temple across the road that has been built over the river. causing floods over the river every rainy season. or are they untouchable ?.... they are the main violators followed by westgate mall parking all paved over the river
kevo buda true...That ugly structure needs to go...
I was against this people but come to think of it well. Kenya has problem kweli....
Something not quite right.
poor reporting sir.. get the facts first sir... hata kama uko internship just relax and breath in
Then the courts will order the gorv to pay the investors, that's where another nys scam shall come in.....Kenya yahitaji maombi walai
Why do you guys have to repeat the same words over and over...
Hakuna basement parking hapo
Wabomoe hata taj mall!!!
Why u kenyans complaining of people's loosing their jobs after this all demolitions? ?why don't you think of the lives that could have lost sometimes to come because of this buildings which are being built under the water . Please reason carefully and let the government do its work.
No impunity for real how government say is rising economy yet destroying such business Mall nonesense to who did that .
