My late father worked the signal box at Siddick and Northside. I have taken a ride in the guards van from North Side box to RNAD Broughton Moor. Good memories for me ! Thank you for sharing.

Fascinating video of what we have had and lost and perhaps now need. Thank you very much indeed.

Pencil factory, Soap factory, Chocolate factory all just memories now. Some great sounding names in that neck of the woods . Cleator and Marsh on, just a couple.
Workington Flar Bottom Rail. Carried enough of that in my time. 👍😁

Thanks for posting this. What makes it special for me, is the accent. probably a thousand years of history behind it, all the way back to the Norse settlers of this region. My local accent is of Danish descent but sadly is fading much too fast.

Still got our much treasured shots of WORKINGTON STEEL marked flats through Preston in the 90s.

My house in Northside backed onto the cutting further down towards the Derwent. It's a nice footpath and long-distance cycle track now. Good for walking Northside's "High-Speed Dogs" (retired Greyhounds from the nearby kennels). Obviously we would prefer a railway; but if it had to go, then it's left something worthwhile behind it.

Brilliant video - I moved down South from Maryport when I was 5 in 1967
My mam told me when I was born I lived in old Northside - Im not sure if the houses behind the church in your video at 12 mins 8 seconds are Old Northdside (I would love to see video footage of Northside )
My grandad and dad all worked at Siddick pit and I can only find one photo of the colliery
