  • Ever wondered how Google manages to constantly give accurate and speedy results for a search query? In this episode, Stephanie Wong and Yuriy Babenko talk in-depth about a photons role in Google’s fiber optic network. Specifically, how photons transmit important data between Google’s Front End servers, global cloud load balancers, and backend servers - all in seconds.

This is an excellant video.during my school days ,i had learnt about fibre optics and how info travels through it using the total internal reflection. There was also speculation at that time data rate would be very fast in future.Today it is being executed.Iam also a researcher reseaching in the properties of light.Iam aware about the limitations of light.Initially i was a physicst, but later i did masters in computers to increase my knowledge.I think fibre optics is best as it is cheap and consumes less power as info travels through photons and not electricity. Also electrical signals today are polluted with so much of noise and interference.Every day new modifications have to be done which requires more effort and discomfort. This is the real situation.Every day there is some damage in every part of the world. But the technicians and other staff are doing excellent work to streamline the system. Not every one can judge this situation.Google has also added various stars to its credit

I request the global load balancer to support functions.
Because currently, it does not :'(

@@guillaumeblaquiere yep, im personally waiting a video encoding service , a mail / sms sending service and a search service like algolia or elasticsearch but with an deep integration with google cloud db especially firestore

@@maazm4722 great expectation but I'm quite sure that video encoding service won't happen. But, a cloud run with gpu support for efficient vidéo encoding, why not!
I also don't believe in Email/sms service. I was in a previous alpha, but it has been cancelled.
I have lot expectation in db, sql or nosql but it's time to announce something big!

@@guillaumeblaquiere good then i will be waiting for april , it seems strange that google cancelled such a vital service

@@maazm4722 yes, we didn't understand. Maybe the service was badly designed, or the business model not good. Google is as expert in Email with Gmail, and quite good in sms with Android. But it's maybe the April surprise!
