I found a Noni tree with some fruit in Costa Rica. I picked one and took it back to the inn where I was staying. Before I got around to eating it, someone swiped it (probably to throw it off the edge of the earth). Anyhow, it did, indeed, smell something like strong cheese mixed with vomit.

The second thought I had was: This is the definitive proof that god does not exist!
And the third idea I had (I will not do that!) was: If you want to lose weight and eat less, have noni around. You won't be able to eat!

So, back in the 90's my Mum fell for all the health benefits of the Noni after a handsome man from Mexico cornered her at a flea market... She bought cases of Noni nectar and made the whole family drink a shot of it every day, it was supposed to cure my allergies and make me thin(I think from vomiting)... Just watching this gave me a smell and taste memory from bloody hell. It is the only thing, I have ever had that smells like gangrene and tastes like bile.

You are more brave than me. I never want to taste the actual fruit. I have had noni juice before. The juice doesn’t taste good at all but I do drink it from time to time. I use it for medicinal purposes. I was told to only drink an ounce a day to an ounce twice a day. When I use it during cold and flu season I don’t get sick at all. I remember a winter when everyone was sick including people who rarely get sick. I went to the hair salon and my stylist said that the place was so empty because everyone was getting a bad cold or flu. (This was the year that the flu was so bad that they showed adults and children that were in the hospital fighting for their lives. Then about a week later they showed that the people either lived or died.) I gave a bottle to my stylist and she didn’t get sick. I drank it and also didn’t get sick. I’ve used it for other medicinal issues. I’m just sharing my experience. I don’t expect anyone try it or use it. The taste is horrible. I appreciate your bravery in trying this again.

Judging by the way you describe the smell, I think the ripe fruit contains propionic (cheesy, sweaty smell, like old tennis shoes) and butyric acids (vomity, sweaty smell). Bearing that in mind, I think you can de-stink the fruit by soaking it in baking soda!

You mix it with some cranberry, grape and some lime juice with a decent amount of sugar. The white ones don't taste too terrible though. You are exaggerating. The brown ones... I have no idea why they would make you try that. They are rotten.

I've never bought this it grows literally everywhere. I just forage them from the ground because noone eats them. Love it so much I usually eat 4-6 for a meal. Super spicy some are sweet, creamy garlicky cheese yum. Unripe fruit is never good. Should be fully white plump don't eat the brown parts

@@WeirdExplorer my taste buds have definitely changed since becoming a Fruitarian 3 years ago. I really love the cheesy flavor since I don't really get that much these days.

You brave, brave man! Sorry, but better you than us! 😂 Since you describe fruit so well, I check your channel first before buying new exotic fruits to try!

I feel like this channel evolved my pedestrian knowledge of awful fruits - which was limited to durian - to noni and soapberry level.

I ate 3/4 of a whole ripe (white) one in Hawaii. That's a much as I could eat. It's super super strong yes, but I like cheese, etc. It's the acidic burning part that makes it like vomit and I could not finish a whole one.
