What about the ROG ally
Great question! The website says it DOES work with Windows too - for the Ally and Go 👍
The instructions on the website say it is launched the same way as on SD OLED - from the bios manager section on our Ally and Go 👍
@@PeteTalksTech Basically it should work with anything that you can access either the bios or the bios boot menu on a system and can boot from either SD card or a USB card reader should be good to go.
There is a caveat to this though and with out sounding like a complete nerd basically if the device is set to run the bios purely as UEFI then the micro SD card would need to be set up with the GPT (GUID Partition Table) boot as those systems will not boot an MBR (Master Boot Record) boot drive or even see them.
I will assume most devices will the option in the bios set to some sort of hybrid uefi so that it can detect legacy devices and in turn able to boot MBR drives.
In summary, If the bios can see it the bios can boot it :D
A few tips for anyone getting this.
1. Make sure your audio is unmuted on steam os before switching to batocera, otherwise your audio will be muted regardless of what batocera says.
2. Go to system settings and change screen rotation to 0°. Mine was set to 90. This will fix your games screen being partially cropped out.
3. Go to controller settings and remap your controller. This will fix your issues of triggers not working like it did for Crazy Taxi in this video. Set your hotkey as the select button to Exit your games as usual. 😁
Thanks for sharing Frankenstein! 🙌
Thanks Pete! I really appreciate the shout out! It’s my Bday tomorrow and this is the only present I need! I will be getting one now!
Awesome Michael, Happy Birthday and have a fantastic day! 🎊🎉🎊🎉
How was your Birthday Michael? Hope you had a great day! 🎉🎊🎉🎊
@@PeteTalksTech It was so amazing! Thanks for asking! Played games all day- best Birthday present of all lol. Then went to an Italian restaurant for a nice seafood dinner.
@@PeteTalksTechdo you need to install anything else or is it just plug and play? Is there any controller layout settings you need to adjust?
Looks great. Can I ask, each time you want to go back to Steam OS do you have to go back into bios mode? Also when you re insert the original SD card that you may be using for emudeck etc will all of the settings be in tact as if it was never removed? Thanks and the vid is sick!!
Thanks so much Sieed, your encouragement means so much!
Yep we DO need to go back into bios after using this to head back into Steam OS, but it literally takes like 20-30 secs…
Yes, when we insert our SD card with all our roms on, EmuDeck settings etc all work perfectly still, hope this helps and happy retro gaming! 🙌
Great video
Thank you shaolin! 🙌
Can i leave the sd card in my steam deck when switching to steam os? Im worried about the card eventually corrupting if if remove it everytime i want to switch
Yep we can leave it in Frankenstein 👍
That's why it is always a good idea to use disk cloning software to clone the card or backup to an image.
Very interesting but before I buy I have 3 questions if you have the time to answer:-
1 - Can you add extra games and/or systems?
2 - Does going in and out of the bios screen cause issues over time to the deck?
3 - Does the PS2 have GTA:San Andreas? (if you can't add more games and it doesn't have this one, I'll pass on it)
Great questions user!
1. Yes we can add extra games - just go into Desktop Mode, into roms folder and place extra roms in the right system folder
2. Hmm I wouldn’t think so - any readers any thoughts on this? 🤔
3. It doesn’t have have San Andreas but we could find this Rom and place in the ps2 folder in the Rom folder
Hope this helps!
Hey is there any Nintendo ds games included ?
Is it compatible with the ally? I’m so torn between the two. I don’t know which to buy 😅
Hey Kinsey, the website says it DOES work with the Ally - I’ll check this in a vid SOON!
Funny you should ask about Ally v SD OLED - I’m working on a vid about this right now for release VERY SOON so stay tuned! 👀
In the meantime this is my SD OLED review! 👇
Steam Deck OLED: 3 Month HONEST Review
czcams.com/video/PoSAKzuOwh8/video.html
One has OLED the other has IPS with the mediocre IPS contrast ratio and light grey blacks. Easy choice 😅
There is an option dor 256GB or the 512GB. Is there just a bunch of extra storage left on the 512?
Great question Jon! Just checked and there's about 5GB storage left on the 512GB SD card, so the 51,400 retro games pretty much fill the entire card... 👍
I was playing a game on this and I got a pop up that said "virtual boy ejected". What does this mean? Is it referring to the sd card itself? I don't want this thing to corrupt 😢 BTW it didn't Boot me from my game or batacera, but it scared me
Haven’t encountered this Frankenstein, was it a virtual boy game you were playing as perhaps it was an error with the rom?
No, I was playing manhunt on PS2. But it might've been a overheating issue or something. Where I live it got to 90°f today
Ahh yep that may be it… 👍
I clicked the link, and when checking reviews, a few stood out to me. The BIGGEST one was saying that there is NO AUDIO for the games on the OLED. Which is the only reason I haven't bought one. But I heard you say while playing Crazy Taxi 2 in the video that you loved the soundtrack. But I didn't hear anything in your edit. IS THERE AUDIO FOR DA GAMES??
Great point Frankenstein, I can confirm that YES THERE IS AUDIO in all games - you’re right that I think there were issues when the SD OLED first came and this SD Card was first available, but they have updated the Batocera system, as stated in their description of the item lower down:
“Note: The new upgrade! The Batocera system built into this TF card has been upgraded to Batocera.Linux 39 version, which is perfectly compatible with the Steam Deck OLED version and perfectly solves the problem of no sound during use.”
Hope this helps! 👍
V39 is compatible with the OLED
When scrolling through the game catalogs, I notice some duplicates. Is that all they are, duplicates?
Hey Frankenstein, yes there may be some duplicates and also there may be some that look like duplicates but are just from different regions eg Japan, Europe and USA 👍
Do i need to download anything on my steam deck ? Or can i just insert the sd card and play ?
Insert and just play after launching from Bios Manager as shown in the vid Brandon! 🤩
Wow, the ONLY MGS game here is PSP'S metal gear acid?! Unfortunately I'll pass, but great to know this exist. Never knew there was a console with my name, Naomi lol
Haha ace!
It's an arcade engine, basically just a dreamcast, mate.
I find these overkill, good I guess if you the type that doesnt know how to find roms yourself but its much cleaner and easier to just put the 100-200 roms you really want on yourself
good video either way
Thanks Valhalla! You’re right that if you just “dabble” in a bit of emulation then doing 100-200 yourself is prob best, but if you’re a big fan of retro games then this is an excellent solution - I’ve been playing retro games from systems I never otherwise would have played! 🤯
How do you find games?
@@YvesSaintSavant google mostly
I wonder if it would work on a gaming laptop?
Great question Kinsey! I do know that their Windows based retro accessories I covered in vid below loads straight from Windows and should be back in stock 👇

Is Comix zone and super double dragon on there?
On the Mega Drive? If so I’ll check!
@@PeteTalksTech super double dragon was on the snes and comix zone was on the genesis…Thanks for checking
Hey kdee, just double checked and this sd card has BOTH of these, happy days! 🎉🎊
@@PeteTalksTech Awesome…Thank you so much for checking I will definitely now be getting this card
Awesome let us know how ya find this awesome card Kdee! 🙌
is there any way to download this and put it on your own sdcard?
Arcadepunks website, they have lots of different sized iso files to fit whatever sdcard size you have.
Great question Sandy, I see no reason why we can’t copy everything that’s on this sd card and put it all on our own sd card of choice, so I’m guessing this is very doable 👍
Does this work with the ROG ally and how. Pleaseeeeee
Great question kiop! The website says it DOES work with Windows too - for the Ally and Go!
The instructions on the website say it is launched the same way as on SD OLED - from the bios manager section on our Ally and Go.
Do any of our great Ally viewers know how to access the bios manager on the Ally? Will it be Volume Up and Power when Ally is powered off like the SD OLED? 🤔
Won’t you be afraid the SD card would be damaged on the Ally?
You're right Candy, many of ours including my SD card slot doesn't work so we have to put the SD card into a USB hub first then this into the Ally... 😅
Hey does this come with any GameCube games?
Hey Ben, at 3:09 in the vid - it comes with 65 GameCube games!
@@PeteTalksTech legend ! Thank you so much for the swift reply - I did skim through but missed it. Thanks for the book mark
Happy to help Ben, I so appreciate you awesome viewers! 🙌
Oh man! The first couple of mins I was super excited for this and about to reach for my wallet ...until you get to the games list and there's no ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Atari 400/800, BBC Model B, Amstrad etc. What an epic disappointment but I guess my wallet is happy. :(
Hey Steve! I’ve just checked in Desktop Mode in the roms folder and the ZX Spectrum, C64, Atari 800 and Amstrad subfolders are PACKED with games, so it looks like they are searchable, they just don’t have their dedicated section in the main menu!
Feel free to let us know 5-6 of these systems games and I’ll try searching for them!
It's hard enough to pick a game to play as it is!
I know I wouldn't spend more than 5 minutes on a single game before moving on to the next so, I'll give it a miss.
lol! Yep choice overload for sure chilly! 😂🙈
Is this legal? I mean 51,000 games? It sounds unreal. Can you please respond
Yep 51,000 games, it’s insane! These type of emulation SD cards are very popular to play retro games, they are widely sold 🤷
What PS2 games are on this
70 ps2 games are on this, I go through them all at 6:05 in the vid 👍
Just use emudeck.
You completely missed the point
@@shaolin95 okay, just use emudeck though
I just downloaded emudeck. How do I get the games?
@@deehn4140 there are tutorials on CZcams and reddit
@@deehn4140 there are tutorials on CZcams
No dragon Ball games for PS2 lame.
We can add whatever extra roms we want in the Desktop Mode, in roms folder, then place in ps2 folder 👍
