    Amazing video.
    I installed wine from Synaptic and had to manually copy the notepad++ exe and create .desktop file.
    I did not know installing through wine was also possible.
    This opens up so many windows for me.
    Cheers.

    to help out some people, please note - if you get the error "E: Unable to locate package winehq-stable" iThe name of the install package is different from that stated in the wiki. Instead of typing:
    sudo apt-get install --install-recommends winehq-stable
    instead type sudo apt-get install --install-recommends wine-stable

    this is the final straw, Im switching to linux, it has almost everything from windows and it's safer, open source and has hundreds of distors, you don't like your distro you get other in a mater of minutes.
    TL:DR: you should switch to linux :P

      @Excuse me Wth I was dualbooting with elementary for a few weeks (it was amazing) but i was dualbooting from a pendrive so it was slow. My computer is the most mid-end computer you could see (most games run on 60fps because of a i5-7300HQ, 16 GB of ram and a gtx 1050), but I wanted to switch to somthing lighter like ubuntu or popOS or manjaro or ubuntu budgie and being the fool I am I just formated the pendrive not thinking much of it and it's now bricked, I'm going to buy a new external hhd (ssd is expensive as hell) shrink it by somthing like 60 gb so that i can get some games running and try some other systems

    • @lightgaming2331
      @lightgaming2331 Před 3 lety

      @MatZ I have an internal NVMe drive, witch is better then an ssd, windows runs smoothly, I forgot to mention that my computer is a laptop (sorry), so interal ssds are out of the window nad external ones (1 TB is my minimum because with 256GB im gonna burn through it in like a month and with a 512 gb it's still not enough for me, the games i get are usually on average the weigh 20 gb or 15 so with my about 300 or 350 games aka about 750 GB (on average) I'm kinda on a storage limit, my python projects are about 500mb and my school work is about 1GB, and so I get 250GB) a smaller drive ain't gonna cut it, it's mostly just for testing and this will be a temporary solution and once I get more money on chrismas or somthing else I'm going to buy a proper external ssd and have it for games only, for now and for me an hdd has a great capacity and a great price, like 75 dollars (about 200 zloty) is better then 200 dollars for an ssd (500-650 zloty).
      TL:DR for now an hdd is going to be a better choice

      windows 10 kills the low or mid-end hardware fast cause of their sophisticated running system program in the background. If win 10's not legit, their updates will make your memories work like 10x the usual task heating them pretty fast and wearing them down fast. Cracked software will be even worse for win OS. Thats how their designed their system. Unknown product keys, cracked product keys they'll let you run it in their system but they gonna put some hardwork on your hardware thus making its lifespan short.

    My congratulations on your worry-free installation.
    I couldn't get Wine to install on my Ubuntu 20.04 LTS without Wine wanting to remove a load of big applications and some crucial drivers too . . . Same story when using APT alone or even with Synaptic PM. Is Wine trying to run every app using Windows ? The problem seems to be with the insistence on having a 32-bit Wine installed too - when nearly all apps and drivers today are 64-bit . . .
    I'd like to see how your Wine works with Affinity Designer. No one else can get it working right on Wine.
