    All I see is carbon dioxide emissions. Tons and tons of CO2 emissions.

      What you do not see is the tons of CO2 released from the soil as bushes encroach, nor the tons of CO2 removed by the healthy savannah grasslands into the soil that establish after clearing. This can far outweigh the CO2 released by charcoal in the long run.

      I live next to the Nossob River where i am exposed to that woodsmoke 24/7 for the last 7 months, day and night. Safe??? Nothing about charcoal making is safe. No one inspects any farm where charcoal is made, so many do as they please. Not one chopped down tree is replaced with an indiginous tree. A lot of indifinous trees are chopped down for charcoal, especialy the Kameel Doring because it is hard and makes the best charcoal. .
