DIY - Sanding Drums For Spindle Sander

An oscillating spindle sander is a sander mounted on a spindle that both rotates and oscillates up and down along the axis of the spindle. This type of oscillating sander is good for sanding curves and contours that would be difficult with hand or orbital sanding.

Route a slot the length of the drum, make a retainer with 4 holes Use the retainer to clamp the sandpaper to the drum. Then you can use full sheets of sandpaper cut to size, replacing the sandpaper as it wears out.

I'm interested to see how he changes worn out sandpaper on these spindles. I wonder if PSA backed sandpaper would be tacky enough to hold in this application. Larger diameter sanding sleeves can be expensive.
