- Ah yes, the original Phred's game. This NES romhack plays exactly like Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! It's basically MTPO with each character receiving a re-skin treatment including stat card updates and custom quotes in between rounds. It even has Gabby Jay XD
As far as the playthrough itself, it's a solid 14-0 run without losing a single fight. Let's just call it semi-casual. The only fights that slipped beyond round 1 are Mask X and Strauss Corfam (Tyson) which went to round 3 (yikes!). Played on FCEUX 2.6.5

Thanks for doing this play through - Phred’s Punch Out page was one of my favorite sites in the early 2000s. Loved reading the character bios but never actually seen the hack played out.

Punch Out Arcade to Mask X: "BAL BA BA BA BA BALD BULL!"
Infractions: (Correct me if I'm wrong)
Gabby Jay:
-Too old, this might kill him in the ring
Based on the quotes:
"-note to self: Retire!!!-"
“Without Vi*gra, I’d be so helpless!”
“After this fight, I am going to retire!” “Yay!!!!”
-Wants to throw the match
-Is competing on a substance
Possible infractions:
-We can assume he is not wearing any mouthgear due to his teeth falling out when you hit him
Gabby Jay has 3 infractions +1 possible one
Earl Boyde:
-Pants go below his knees
-Pants tucked in his boots
Possible infractions:
-Has a beard. This might cushion the jaw but we dont know if its too thick or not.
Earl Boyde has 2 infractions +1 possible infraction
Master Phred:
-While throwing an uppercut, he is shown throwing the middle finger for a short period of time, this counts as unsportsmanlike.
-He taunts the player with the quote, “Master Phred is going to destroy you!!!!!," and “Time to DIE! Ring the bell, Mario! *bell sound*" This is not allowed.
His boxing uniform is highly illegal as:
-He wears a black sweatshirt.
-His pants goes under his knees.
Possible infractions:
-His pants might be tucked in his shoes
-His shirt might also be tucked in his pants
Master phred has 4 infractions +2 possible infractions
Bobby Amaya
-Wearing a toupee in professional boxing(World Circuit) is not allowed
-He tells Mac to not hit his eyes, telling him to go easy on him. This counts as persuasion, which is not allowed
He also taunts mac during the game to hit him(Cause he's a palette swap of Don Flamenco, even saying he's his long lost brother.)
This counts as,
-Trying to throw the match
-Taunting, which is considered disrespectful, which is not allowed
Possible Infractions:
-Just like Gabby Jay, he might not be wearing any mouth gear due to his teeth falling out when you hit him
Bobby Amaya has 4 infractions +1 possible one
Chad Stump:
-He briefly shows his meat when his pants fall down.💀This counts as public indecency, which is illegal anywhere
-A mouth gear is supposed to be worn during boxing to prevent any dental damage
-He taunts mac during the breaks and says, "Your mom," which counts as being disrespectful
Possible Infractions:
-While he does have known states, his weight says, "FAT," His location is, "Hippo Island(His house) and his record is 4-20 YOKO. This implies he didnt get a real boxing license. The reason this is in possible infractions is because this might be what he got on his license and this might be just a joke(cause it is)
Chad Stump has 3 infractions+1 possible one
Magic Ninja
-93 years old, this might kill him in the ring
-Masks arent allowed
-Pants go below his knees
Possible:
-His pants might be tucked in his boots
Magic Ninja has 3 infractions+1
Jack Hicks possible infractions:
Just like Earl Boyde:
-His beard might be too thick for boxing; this might cushion his jaw
Jack Hick has 1 possible infraction
Vodka Drunkenski:
-Fighting while on alcohol or any substance is not allowed
-drinking alcohol or anything other then water during breaks is not allowed
-He also burps during intermissions, which counts as being disrespectful
Just like Soda Popinski,
-Instead of boxing trunks, he wears wrestling trunks, with a lack of demarcation between the waist and the legs.
-Instead of boxing shoes or boxing boots, he wears wrestling boots.
-Normally, mustaches are permissible in boxing so long as they are cut neat and short, but Popinski's mustache is too long to be allowed under these terms.
-Popinski's laughing at Little Mac is considered disrespectful and unsportsmanlike, though it's up to the referee to decide.
Vodka Drunkenski has 7.5 infractions
Mask X
-During breaks, Mask X says, “Eat your wheatcakes!!” which counts as being disrespectful
-Masks are not allowed
-Because he is Bald Bull in disguise, he did not get a legit boxing license
-That also counts as fake identity, which is illegal
Mask X has 4 infractions
Rob Dezonia
-It is implied that he is using steriods, this will get him banned from many sports not just boxing for life
Just like Super Macho Man:
-He does his spin punch that shows his back, this counts as throwing the match which is not allowed
-His flexing is disrespectful to the match and the opponent Though it's up to the ref to decide.
-Instead of boxing shoes or boxing boots, he wears wrestling boots.
-Instead of boxing shorts, he wears wrestling trunks.
Rob Dezonia has 6.5 infractions
Strauss Corfam:
-His age is unknown, meaning he didnt get a full boxing license
-All of his quotes taunts Mac, which is not allowed
-Straus's ending quote when you defeat him says he let Mac win, this counts as throwing the match, which is not allowed
Just like Master Phred:
-His pants goes under his knees.
-He wears a black sweatshirt.
-He also sticks the middle finger while doing an uppercut, which is disrespectful

Eh, it plays like every other hack though. Why can't someone change the move sets on them all and then change their skins, too. You know, change it up a bit and make it more fun. I am better off playing the original on my nes if these are just skin changes. I know it can be done, but who ill actually take up the challenge of doing it who knows how is the question.
You should check out Phred's Cool Punch-Out 2 Turbo!! It's not just a skin change. It plays quite differently than mtpo. This is Phred's first hack. I think he was just getting his feet wet with this one!
