- Are Catahoula dogs able to herd cattle? Can Catahoulas handle cows?
Watch it Yourself, we picked our best footages.
Cataholus Leopard Dogs are considered as hog hunting dogs and herding dogs as well, specialized for cattle. If you are sceptical, watch this compilation about actively hearding Catahoulas.
All recordings were made in: Delight Catahoulas Hungary Kennel!

My deceased husband used to breed Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dogs years ago... They are SMART and make excellent farm dogs... and will guard well also. I can trust Gypsy my 4 yr old with baby rabbits... baby kittens... she was raised with other animals.
This was awesome to watch! The red looks so much like mine! Haha gahh I love to watch them do there thing, there is no other dog breed quite like a catahoula ❤
Gypsy, my Catahoula, is vocal but not noisy... (I have videos of her posted on my channel). Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dogs are our state dog... (Louisiana) They make great family dogs raised with children... and they are protective of their family also!!
They are so brilliant! I like catahoulas very much
I have Gypsy my Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dog... she's 4 yrs old...
I’ve always wondered if this is why my catahoula freaks out and barks and tries to circle around the golf carts in my neighborhood😅😮 (I adopted him from a kill shelter when he was 1.5 years old, not for hunting or working purposes)
Smartiss. Dog ever.
Yes
Sorry, I should have watched the video before commenting below. Leopard Dogs, later named Catahoula, were bred for hunting not herding cattle since there weren’t yet any cattle in the “New World.”
For Gods sake please stop posting about these dogs. Please start posting about the Easter Bunny or something else that you know nothing about.
I named Rowdy After a Beagle ,rolled over the 1st time we took him to the vet ,Blond vet
Who owns thes dogs! Where is this video taken?
In Hungary, Europe.
I wonder if breeding of those dogs is known! Cheers from a German Catahoula Owner!

@@DogCastTvEng DO you think they are good herders?
@@giffysstiffy8874giffytuck according to the breeders we talked, yes. In our opinion: yes, but not to the extent like classical herding dogs. They are for cattle and not for smaller animals, like sheep.
My Rowdy Bit a Elks nose in Yellowstone, hah
Go Red Angus,
LOL. Those dogs were marginal at best. A catahoula is a head dog and not a herder.
Not entirely true. They are used for herding in the southern U.S. where they originate (Louisiana).
They steer cattle by nipping at neck & head - very efficiently effectively. They can tree coins, retrieve fowl from swamps & hunt hogs. Very diverse dogs. Extremely fast with incredible endurance.
@@lovegodlivealoha3352 I have been a certified breeder of catahoulas since the 80's. I still catch some cows and I never miss a show. You have no clue what you are talking about.
@@lovegodlivealoha3352 You are just an internet expert with no real world knowledge.
@@NicholsonsDiscus you're saying these dogs don't and can't herd?!?
Worst narration ever
