The whole point of this setting is so you can set bigger stones, thus making the entire set part looking entirely made of diamond with no metal showing in between. Its really cool especially in chains.

Hello I know its been 3 years but I am trying stone setting like this and have an issue with the prongs shearing off.I am using sterling.would it be easier to bend the prongs if the metal is annealed first?
So much easier now I literally just 3d print a boolean file, but this method paved the way for us new guys making jewelery Kudos and thank u

Am having a slight problem n I think u can help me out. If you setting 2mm diamonds what's the mm u drill apart ? Is it 2mm to be exact!
I usually give myself about 0.15 on each side so the holes are 2.3mm apart
