    You should suggest to your local bulk salt places that they put in a self service hopper for the salt. My local yard put one in a couple years ago and it's fantastic. No more bagged salt for me. It gets a few loads from the loader, and it has a lid on it to keep it dry. Ya just drive your truck under it move the lever to open the hopper, fill up, close up, weigh out and pay. It's been a boost to their business.

    Get creative. pre-emergent is 10$ an acre for a season load when sprayed low volume rather than rolled onto prills. 24d Ester is still 60bucks a jug. If you have been keeping up with Fert previous seasons, you should be able to get away with N only and lower rates for a year or two especially if you aren't bagging. By regular 46-0-0 Urea and run it 2lbs per k. You can spray merit low volume for 10 bucks an acre. No reason to raise Fert prices more than 5-7%. Too many people are panicking.

    • @JohnnyMow
      @JohnnyMow  Před 2 lety

      I’ve never sprayed pre emergent out of my low volume machine. Mine does not have agitator. 45-0-0 is still really expensive hear even at half rate as you suggested. Hear is the bottom line. I paid 14.25 last year for a bag of premergent this year 24.75. Regular triplet 64 now 90. You add insurance rates and gas to the cost your looking at a devastating year.

    • @42swissmocha
      @42swissmocha Před 2 lety +1

      @@JohnnyMow I hear ya but I disagree. Going to be a fantastic year for guys who know their numbers and their chemicals. 24d ester will do just as good a job as triplet at 7$ an acre. Maybe throw some triclopyr for an extra punch at 4$ an acre. We took out all luxuries and will come in well under 1.5$ per k averaged out.

    We had all kinds of plans for 2021, then Texas February hit us. Our phones were averaging 16 calls an hour. I had just replenished our salt inventory when it hit. Other landscapers started buying from us as we were the only ones with salt. Shrubs dead everywhere, turf slow to come out of dormancy, Covid hit staff and no-one wanted to work unless it was under the table. We kept the mow and shrub trimming trucks running with our fertilizer crew. A "fall back and punt" mode. This year its a numbers game and who has the inventory/equipment left to do the jobs. I have already had others ask if we could help them with their routes as their machines are down with parts backordered. Its another storm, just different elements.

    Im in southern New England and we’ve had 1 plowable event this season in my area. 3-4 salt runs which is way below the norm. My bulk salt price went up 30% since last March. This inflation is a real problem across the board. Im already dreading what the spring season is gonna bring as I know I’m gonna lose some customers when I raise the prices again for this upcoming season.

    Long time no see 😎good video man👍The inflation is crazy and it's gonna get worse ! We went up 33% on almost everyone for 2022. It sounds like a big jump for our customers but, it's really not that bad. Basically, our smaller property clients are paying about $330 more per year for mowing.
