Just an American trying to learn more about and Germany and the rest of Europe. Today we're gonna check out I BARELY Survived My First Time Drinking With Germans!
I had a wonderful time getting to meet a lot of you guys in person! And I can’t wait to do it again! I’ll be back next month! Should we try this again? 👀🫣😊
Alsolso your German is great! Don't know if it's because of the alcohol or what, but I'd love to lak to you about Germany, your experiences, your view on all kinds of stuff (not just Germany related, all in all I think you're an insanely interesting human)

There is a saying "a man is only drunk if he can't lie anymore without falling over". 😂 Obviously an exaggeration, but it summarizes German drinking culture pretty well.
As long as you can sit upright you aren't drunk. Everything to 45° sideways angle is considered tipsy while laying on the floor half naked in your own puke counts as wasted. There is a reason I don't drink only once or twice a year in very moderate ways :D .
everyone has a different way of being drunk. some get aggressive, some get louder, some can't walk straight anymore. others will just walk away and go to bed like i do when i get drunk xD
You are not that tipsy or that drunk , I think I can speak for the Germans , this level of being drunk is absolute common. If you don’t steal a bike to get home or start texting your ex‘s , you were not that drunk. Just a humble opinion from a guy who grew up in a small village ( where drinking alcohol is a passion). Don’t worry about it , you were fine !😂

hey james, glad you are enjoying germany. i love your open character. your incident happens to a lot of people, but most are trying to hide, but you express it in your video, exceptional. Some people mind, but most of germans dont, because germans love honesty. Your german is quite good. Alwas remember: learning by doing. Germans are used to speak english in holidays, movies and series if they watch them in native, music whatever. So its quite harder for you to learn german as for germans to learn english. Dont feel underestimated, we know, and we appreciate. What I think germans like most of you is your passion and openess to germany. You really try to understand the culture. I have to say one thing: Big cities like cologne, hamburg, berlin, frankfurt, munich, etc. are very open and a lot of people speak english, but if you really want to know the culture, please visit some small villages and join the local events. You will have an awesome experience aswell but you will get to know some specialities especially food. Love your content even if for me sometimes your excitement is maybe played (sorry for that assumption, but I am not used to that, usually, could be real) wish you all the best manne
You HAVE to come back. You also gotta travel more throughout Germany. Whether its the Ruhrgebiet, Munich, Berlin or Hamburg. Youre gonna have even more great moments like these, especially when doing meetngreets :D
Its so funny to me, that you count the Jägermeister as drinks.. The idea to count shots as seperate drinks just never entered my thoghts :D But maybe I should follow your example to stop being surpised why I am THAT drunk after only 3 drinks hahaha
I don't know since when but I just saw - I love the fact you have your vids available in 4k you don't get that a lot and it makes such a difference in quality! Great video - I live in Cologne as well - shame we didn't meet but looks like you had a proper Cologne experience with some nice people!

17:35 i can relate to that ^^ with me it is also so that the surrounding mood has a great influence on how you feel the alcohol and how you feel yourself. at such a classic festival like wine tasting with relaxed background music you always feel very relaxed
I just recommended that as well, Reeperbahn on Saturday night, then go on to the Fischmarket sun morning and eat smoked eel. Hamburger Dom starts. Alster, Elbe.......

Neiiiin I missed your meet and greet and I was just around the corner 😢 next time I'll try and make it. Maybe come by around Christmas for a different vibe and the Christmas markets
It is amazing how good you speak German and it is great you are interested so much in German culture. Hope you enjoyed the wine and tried out the Kölsch in a typical Kölner Kneipe. A new Kölsch until you put the beer coaster on top of the glas
That was the most enjoyable Video about a nearly drunk none-German Person in Germany I've ever seen, absolutely appreciate that :D Messing up the Bathroom is an almost necessary part of it ;)
When I was 16 we had an exchange student from Australia. Dude couldn’t handle the easy access to alcohol. Came to school drunk every day . Finally he got send home 😂
Some of my friends are in the us right now to visit a friend. A couple years ago he was visiting Germany. He stayed 2 weeks in our location at Christmas until new year. Useally we dont work in this time and have a lot of drinks every day. After 2 days he quit drinking whit us, because he was so exhaustet. One morning he wakes up and asked us, if we are drinking again. We denied because we didnt go to bed. It was a damn fun week. Your videos are very nice to watch and i think you are a gumbl Typ
Sorry for you my friend . I think its not a good idea for him to visit coloun again and again . Its not because cloune is not worth to visit . Its because Germany has to offer so much more interresting and nice to visit , that would be a crime to miss for him .
love your videos .. the bathroom story just makes you mor sympathetic ... if you meet a german who can't tell you a similar story ... dont trust em :) ... wish i could have met you in person
Thats so hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣 Seems to have been a really great day/evening/party!! I would rate on a scale from 1 - 10 how tipsy you were : Voll wie ne Haubitze! 🤣 But soo oh so sweet that you even told us about your little accident! I think to get drunk in a good matter you already have learned quite well. The timimg to go for the toilet maybe you can improve on your visit to Hamburg next time … 🤪
Could’ve been worse. Could’ve pissed yourself at the festival lmao. But dope video. Made me more excited that my family and I are leaving America to move to germany 🙏🏾🙌🏾
Check out Hamburg. Major port city. 'The Reeperbahn' is the infamous red light district in Hamburg. Also called 'Der Kiez' or you may have heard it called 'St. Pauli', where The Beatles used to play and where they got discovered at The Star Club. If you've spent a Saturday night partying you then go on to the Fischmarkt on Sunday morning. It starts at 5am and it's a mix of tourists, Hamburgers that buy fish and drunk people that are left from the night before ;-). A typical Hamburg thing to buy there would be a smoked eel. Very yummy. There are a lot of things to see and do. Alster rundfahrt, the port, lots of small clubs with live music. The Hamburger Dom is happening Jul 21 - Aug 20. It's a big twice yearly fair.
Jägermeister is delicious. But there are many other herbal liqueurs in Europe, not only in Germany but especially in southern Europe, which are less well-known but no less delicious (but above all different, the herbal mixture is more Bavarian or Mediterranean, for example). Try Mirto or Frigola!
I like your videos. But to be honest to you 2 Jägermeister and 4-5 (good) glases of wine is something that many highschoolers consider as "vorglühen" (pre-heating). That is the amount of drinks they do BEFORE going to the actual party place. Good to see that you all had a nice time here in germany. I hope level the regions out on your next trips. Maybe to the northern germany, like Hamburg or the coast itself. And mybe to the south like Munich and so on. You will be able to compare that and see that germany is very different, depending on the region. It is like comparing New Yorkers to Texans and Californians, etc. (but on a much smaller scale by kilometers apart from eachother.) Looking forward to other videos on you channel.
Jägermeister actually has a lot of alcohol in it. So yeah u can drink it fadt but 20-30 min after u r wasted. My best(worst) drinking storys starts with drinking Jägermeister. My rule for when r u drunk: if u dont remember the end of the party u were drunk ;-) P.s.: Was funny how u tell us ur drinking story, because it sounds like this was ur first drinking story. Had to think about how i tell my first drinking story (with 16) kinda cute. Much love for u. Love ur videos
15 years ago I was on an exercise with some US Marines. On one evening while we are drinking at the local mess hall, a female Marine Captain approached me and asked if she can have a short talk to her men. I overheard her saying: "Don't drink with the Germans, they are used to it." It didn't help, 50% of the Marines were wasted the next day. :) Oh! Drinking helps a lot with languages, you are more brave to speak freely when you are drunk. But don't overdo it! I do not know you personal but I give it a 8. ;) I rethink finally it is a 9,8.^^

hey james, glad you are enjoying germany. i love your open character. your incident happens to a lot of people, but most are trying to hide, but you express it in your video, exceptional.
The feeling when getting drunk by wine you described as cozy had a special Gernan term "Weinseligkeit" as noun or "weinselig" as adv.
The idea to count shots as seperate drinks just never entered my thoghts :D But maybe I should follow your example to stop being surpised why I am THAT drunk after only 3 drinks hahaha
i cant this is so wholesome, especially the meetup, awe good Video bro!
Du brauchst Eier aus Stahl um so eine Story zu erzählen! Nice! Freut mich für dich! Mach bitte weiter wie du bist.
I don't know since when but I just saw - I love the fact you have your vids available in 4k you don't get that a lot and it makes such a difference in quality! Great video - I live in Cologne as well - shame we didn't meet but looks like you had a proper Cologne experience with some nice people!
Great to hear and see you had a nice stay in Germany. Congrats also for your german skills, it's pretty impressive and itseems it#s getting even better with each glass of wine! 🙂
the vlog are so funny! i dont remember when i watched a whole 20+ minutes vlog the last time, great content man!
I like your drunk adventures. Make more of that! That's Entertainment big time!
finds geil und vorallem SUPERmutig das du es durchgezogen hast, im fremden land, sich mit fremden menschen treffen und da spaß haben... hätte ich damals mit 20 auch gemacht aber jetzt... ne eh xD
Great video! Nice you had a good time. 😂 Worth the wait.
These German kids are so shy and wholesome.
I love the fact you had such a great time in Germany! (I myself am German too :) ) Your German really isn't that bad, I'd consider it quite good actually :) Can't wait for the next time you're in Germany, I'll definitely come to your meet and greet, wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to meet you! Love your content, I've been watching your videos for quite some time :)
then you need to come over in february to the carnival , ther you have 2-3 bottles of wine befor the drinking at the party XD. nice video i enjoy it, keep it up
"Macht der James die Blase leer, brauchste keine Feuerwehr." Keine Sorge, James! Das ist uns doch allen schonmal passiert! :)
Super Video übrigens! Tipsy-Meter 9000! Wein und Jägermeister zu mischen, das ist aber auch wirklich fies!
This one was funny! Thanks!
17:35 i can relate to that ^^
with me it is also so that the surrounding mood has a great influence on how you feel the alcohol and how you feel yourself. at such a classic festival like wine tasting with relaxed background music you always feel very relaxed
DAYUUUUM 9:50 tbh that was DOPE af
3:27 I LOVE THAT "3 seconds rule, 3 seconds rule" ITS SO GERMAN OMG I LOVE THAT HAHAHHAHA
i really like to see that you enjoyed your time in germany. your german is super good keep it up !
Your videos gives me always good vibes! love that :D Nice to hear you had a good time here in germany. greetings ^^
Love your energy - stay open !!!
Hey, do you have any plans to visit Hamburg on your next visit? It's the best city in northern Germany
I just recommended that as well, Reeperbahn on Saturday night, then go on to the Fischmarket sun morning and eat smoked eel. Hamburger Dom starts. Alster, Elbe.......
That laugh though! Hahaha
That italian rapper was dope.
P.S Dein Deutsch is fine bro!
nice to see you enjoy your time in DE (I hope you really do) - left it 20 years ago to switzerland to make some money. but one day want to come back
actually your german is "better" because you are trying more, and it IS GOOD man, love how you have improved over the years, hoping to see you in august when you visit Germany the second time ^_^(mby at the Gamescom)
best regards ( to be Formal hahaha)
i just want to be a little part of your journey 😂 much love ma dude🫶🏼
It was an amazing time im happy and Excited to see you again in august
great video man! the meet and greet looked very fun, sadly I had to work that day :( And im very happy you liked the Jägermeister , my favorite alcoholic drink :D
Your German is actually really good. I can understand everrything you say
Für komplett selbst beigebracht ist dein Deutsch beeindruckend gut!
Kaum zu glauben das ich deinen Kanal erst jezt finde.^^ Echt schöne Videos. :D
Hey James, if you ever in town again please let me know. I will be their. Your Videos are really great.
at beginning the jägermeister was ok, little bit later it was soooo good 😂🎉 und btw. dein deutsch ist nicht schlecht!!!
Wenigstens hattest du das Zwischenwasser dabei😂
That was the most enjoyable Video about a nearly drunk none-German Person in Germany I've ever seen, absolutely appreciate that :D Messing up the Bathroom is an almost necessary part of it ;)
When I was 16 we had an exchange student from Australia. Dude couldn’t handle the easy access to alcohol. Came to school drunk every day . Finally he got send home 😂
By the way, Jägermeister tastes the best when you store it in a Freezer first. The herb flavor is weaker after, and it tastes a bit sweeter.
The German measurements for trinking are shot, glass, bottle and bucket.
Great Video
Some of my friends are in the us right now to visit a friend. A couple years ago he was visiting Germany. He stayed 2 weeks in our location at Christmas until new year. Useally we dont work in this time and have a lot of drinks every day. After 2 days he quit drinking whit us, because he was so exhaustet. One morning he wakes up and asked us, if we are drinking again. We denied because we didnt go to bed. It was a damn fun week. Your videos are very nice to watch and i think you are a gumbl Typ
I was really nervous, I had to laugh so much when you got food from our stand the next day
Das ist total süß, wenn du betrunken Deutsch sprichst 😅 Super, dass du Spaß hattest.
xD Dein Deutsch ist absolut okay :) coole Videos
3:53 woah, just got the "Nope" chills right here.
I think your drunk explanation of how being drunk feels was actually very understandable :D
I've been smiling and laughing throughout the whole video 😂 I hope you'll visit cologne again so I can join you next time 😄
Sorry for you my friend . I think its not a good idea for him to visit coloun again and again . Its not because cloune is not worth to visit . Its because Germany has to offer so much more interresting and nice to visit , that would be a crime to miss for him .
James tried Vorglühen, nice! 😊
You don´t have to pay for the bathroom. Just walk into any restaurant or bar and do your thing. Ypu only have to pay at train stations and airports.
Cooles Video! 🎉
I love the way you laugh xD you are very cool :)
Greets from Germany :)
Loved the Italian freestyle
Those eggs are not allowed in the States because small chikdren might swallow those tiny parts.
love your videos .. the bathroom story just makes you mor sympathetic ... if you meet a german who can't tell you a similar story ... dont trust em :) ... wish i could have met you in person
"Kinder" ist einfach die leckerste Schokolade überhaupt. Und das überteuerte Ü-Ei (Surprise Egg) ist eine Legende.
kinder ist von ferrero somit ist ferrero der beste schoko hersteller
@@AlexS-lb5lz Kinder ist die beste Marke von Ferrero. 🤝
Thats so hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣 Seems to have been a really great day/evening/party!! I would rate on a scale from 1 - 10 how tipsy you were : Voll wie ne Haubitze! 🤣
But soo oh so sweet that you even told us about your little accident!
James gets seems to be one of the people that get even more talkative when drinking xD.
Alles gute!!
Bro the story at the End ahhahah but sick vlog
Jägermeister is delicious. But there are many other herbal liqueurs in Europe, not only in Germany but especially in southern Europe, which are less well-known but no less delicious (but above all different, the herbal mixture is more Bavarian or Mediterranean, for example). Try Mirto or Frigola!
ngl in some scenes i think u could be the long lost brother of jp krämer from jp performance, especially in the outro 🤣
(but on a much smaller scale by kilometers apart from eachother.)
Looking forward to other videos on you channel.
Junge, der Rap Part (beatbox): stark 💪❤
Jägermeister actually has a lot of alcohol in it. So yeah u can drink it fadt but 20-30 min after u r wasted. My best(worst) drinking storys starts with drinking Jägermeister.
My rule for when r u drunk: if u dont remember the end of the party u were drunk ;-)
P.s.: Was funny how u tell us ur drinking story, because it sounds like this was ur first drinking story.
I do not know you personal but I give it a 8. ;) I rethink finally it is a 9,8.^^
You did quite good after all the different drinks mixed together. It is easyier to stick with one sort. And, because I haven't told you today you're such a cutie. 😍😍
Kinder Surprise eggs are banned in the US because of a US Law that forbids packing not eatable things into Food. This law was established back to the 50´s after a chocolate company had the brilliant idea to put little toy soldiers into their chocolate bars and many kids choked on them ... and yes, sadly some kids died.
Dude honestly.... for someone who not even visited germany before your German is ridiculously good. so don't be shy to use it...
