I really want to thank you for getting right to the point with this video. Most other videos I've seen about mixing resin, has a boring and pointless five minute intro story on how they thought of mixing it.
I find it really depends on the type of nail polish used. UV nail polishes work pretty well but the quick dry ones don’t. And different brands work differently as well.
I love what you call the "weird feathering!"
Can I polish my nails with regular nail polish and then apply resin on top
@@nadinemayo4955 are you serious? Of course you can't!
Thanks for taking the time to do this experiment. Wonder if the color would come out better with a higher quality polish.
This video saved my life. Really. I'll use these examples for my job and, actually, I like how the gold clear glitter painted the resin! Thank you!!! 👍😍
Glad I could help.
@@ResinObsession going to study all your resin tutorials!!!! 😍
Thank you for this very inspirational and now I can experiment with out worrying I'm going to set something on fire
Can I just say I would have stayed just for the music... Girl loves the blues... 😎🤘❤️🔥
Much love. The music made me think I was at a bar. 🤣. Great info tho. Never thought of polish. Tried food coloring when I was first learning and practicing.
I love funky music. :)
I and looking to do some cheap resin inlays in 3D printed objects, after seeing your video, I am going to try pouring low-cost epoxy into the inlay first, then pouring a thin layer of nail polish on top to create a deeply colored top coat. Thank you!
Hey think of it like this. If you want yellow resin, use clear polish, correct?
Wonder wjat the gel polish will do? Or the quick dry polish?
Great vid and FABulous music!!
That's some pretty provocative music LOL ;)
Excellent! Saved me a lot of messing about trying it out for myself
Glad I could help!
Hey I been messing with crafts for awhile and resin more as of late. I think what happened with the the clear polish is when clear nail polish gets hot it gets yellowy.. so as your resin cured and naturally heated up it turned yellow.. I really enjoyed the video answered some questions I had and was very informative!
I'm glad it was helpful.
The ones that looked like slides from a lab, you could of swirled it to make designs. Like they do with water n they dip their fingers in it. Very cool experiment. Hugs debs from Texas
I still think it's very interesting .
I will try it soon. Thank you for sharing it
A lot of guys who do those beautiful resin countertops use spray paint to color their resin. You can spray it into the resin them stir, the spray the top of the resin and pour more on, but don't stir. Repeat that with all the colors you want, like copper, turquoise and a small amount mixed with black spray paint and white spray paint but you don't add a lot of paint to those so your black is not opaque and a lot more translucent to not over take the other colors. Most art seem to he missing something if there isn't strong black in the piece, but opaque black could ruin you're project!
OK. I keep doing resin, and everything is tacky. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong any suggestions
Turned out pretty good
Thank you!
Is this "gel" nail polish? Thanks for the video!
Thanks so much for your 'experiments' i'm learning from every one.
...and I enjoyed the music, too
Thank you. 😀
Best video EVER!
Awesome. Thank you!
Hi, even I tried mixing nail polish to my resin and hardner mixture but it's not yet dried. It's still soft and guey. What can be done out of this? Should I throw it or can I reuse it by adding more hardner? Pls help.
Enjoyed the video but found the music to be annoying. Thanks for sharing this.
It felt like I was attending a craft lesson in a strip club.
Lol! If there is no human voice teaching I always mute the videos; I find the music on them ..... "distracting". Due to copyright and royalties good music cannot be played.
David Counts what 😂
I often paint it on the outside, not sure I want to get the pot luck of experimentation. Thanks!
Thanks for the informative video! I was wondering if this would work.
You bet!
Was this a 3 step mixture because I have been watching so many videos because I want to get into using resin and most have a two part mixture for them to mix so that they harden? Is this just mixing one mixture with polish or did you mix the two mixtures together before adding the polish? Hope that makes sense. I think they turned out really pretty because even if the color was not right on spot the feathering was beautiful and I like the glitter.
Good question! Yes, I mixed the two parts of the resin together (resin + hardener) before adding the nail polish.
I don't mix the nail polish into the resin. I paint a coat of polish on top of the resin. Let it dry, then I pour resin over the polish.
Could you use clear nail varnish with glitter to put on cured resin? Then add clear resin coat on top when its dried? Thanks
Great question! I show the results of using nail polish on resin in this video about resin polishing options: czcams.com/video/Wm89lAqDCqo/video.html
Great video, try testing nail polish with resin painting/pouring.
Cool! Thanks!!! Just perfect for my short attention span :-D
Perfect!
Nice video Mam . Can you please tell what is this 3:1 mixing for clear resin . Secondly, with clear resin we can use glitter powder or paint .Or both we have to put together . Please can you explain both my questions. I will be happy. Thankyou. God bless.
HI Asha, 3:1 sounds like 3 parts of one component to 1 part of the other.
This article on the Resin Obsession blog will explain coloring options: www.resinobsession.com/resin-resin-resin/how-to-color-clear-epoxy-resin/
@@ResinObsession Mam I am sorry I still did not understand exactly the quantity or amount . I only understood 3 parts of Part A and 1 part of Part B . Thankyou.
I have used good quality nail polish in the past but it was mixed with so many other colorants. Just wondering if anyone knows the colorfastness over time?
Heya . good work . so can i use clear nail polish to give resin a gloss finish ?
It's not my first choice. I talk more about polishing options here: www.resinobsession.com/resin-frequently-asked-questions/how-to-polish-resin-different-ways-of-polishing-resin/
Try to use UV nail polish as resin
I honestly think you'd get more accurate results if you used name brand polish. The stuff from my GE dollar store has more cheap weird chemicals in it that will react differently.
What is the name of this music? I love it.
Can we cake mould also for resin jewellery. Approximately how long does it take for the whole thing to cure .Please let me know.
Yes, you can use silicone baking molds for resin, but once you do that, please don't use them for food again.
Cure time depends on the resin you are using. That information will be included with the resin kit instructions.
I have tried using clear nail polish as a glaze but its horrid. Any tips on how to remove it from resin pieces?
You will need to sand it off.
thanks for sharing.
I have found that MIXING it with Part A 1st is easier and more even.... then mix Part "A" with Part "B",,, same as I do with MICA powder etc.,
BWWGL9 that’s what I had in mind to do with my project. If I add some gold acrylic ink with part a first, should I have any issue when I mix part b? I’ve never mixed an acrylic ink with epoxy and only doing so because I don’t have gold mica powder. I guess I’m trying to do a Kintsugi kind of deal only it’s not Kintsugi cause I’m using epoxy.
My bad... I meant to say I ALWAYS mix anything and everything into with Part "B"... which is much easier to DISSOLVE, or brake up... once well mix into Part "B", It mixes very EVENLY and QUICKLY with Part "A". .... I really fine this very helpful; when using MICA's, Powders, Glitters, Dye Pigments, etc., It's just something I have found very useful and quick with even distribution. Us epoxy people have to STICK together ... ha, ha !
But, can you mix resin into your nail polish and use it on your fingernails?
Unfortunately, crafting resin is not cosmetic grade.
I almost do this. Lol
This is off topic kind of. Can I stick carpet in epoxy resin? Will it start a fire? Does epoxy ever really start fires or is that just higher grade resin?
my attempt also failed unfortunately.. the nail polish changed colour from purple to yellow and it was full of flakes..lol it looked like bacteria under a microscope ha.
Why is it that my resin cures while it's in my cabinets???
What kind/brand are you using? It sounds like it doesn't have a long shelf life.
can u do nails with resin...
No, epoxy resin is not meant for cosmetic purposes.
@@ResinObsession resin is safe and uv hardens it. So that what I guess nail gel is resin. And they have us lamps
Videos are lagin girl...
