    I know it’s an old video but regarding stereo sampling, remember you can double it and pan whatever you want on stereo, also the Octatrack is a good option, it is a tracker in a more complex package

    • @DylanParisMusic
      @DylanParisMusic  Před 9 měsíci +2

      yeah that's a huge extra hassle imo and it cuts tracks from 8 to 4. Octa looks really neat but also don't love that you can't use in overbridge and i'm pretty sure it can't stem out but i could be wrong.
      It seems like most Octa users finish their tracks in the box, but I always export my stems out to DAW for final additions, and then sending to my homie who mixes them.

    For a sampler, actually sampling musical elements needs some work. It’s great at sequencing other gear, but when it comes time to record, say, a synth line… oof. Not only would a metronome help, but it would be cool to specify quantized recording lengths.

    Recently got a MPC one but ended up going back to my tracker, instantly started making a track, it’s weird, guess I got gas hard for MPC but not sure if it’s gonna work out in the long run, I do love my tracker tho, don’t think I get rid of it anymore 😎

    • @DylanParisMusic
      @DylanParisMusic  Před rokem

      I’ve realized that selling gear isn’t usually worth it anymore (grateful to be able to afford to keep most gear). If a workflow is working for you definitely don’t feel like you’ve gotta get rid of it for the new shiny thing.
      That said the MPC takes a while to wrap your head around. It’s worth diving deeper but I’d still say keep the tracker, I don’t think I’ll get rid of mine for a long time if ever because it’s so unique

    Since it only samples in mono, would it be an option to sample the left and right channel exported separately but created at the same time?

    • @DylanParisMusic
      @DylanParisMusic  Před rokem

      I think you could do this via importing samples but you’d be down to 4 stereo tracks

  • @iamkeebz
    @iamkeebz Před rokem +1

    I love my tracker, but I can not fathom that there isn't a work around to getting at least a metronome click into the sample recording function. It's my number one gripe.

      @@DylanParisMusic Wouldn't it be possible to record as midi using midi out for the sound, then render the track afterwards? I haven't used any external gear with my Tracker yet but that's the first method I'd try.

    • @DylanParisMusic
      @DylanParisMusic  Před rokem +1

      I don’t think so because the sequencer can’t be running while recording external audio

    • @iamkeebz
      @iamkeebz Před rokem

      @@DylanParisMusic is that accurate? I thought it ran when you were recording audio from a synth that was midi controlled by the tracker. I’ll have to test that.
      Or at least, the metronome would be nice.

    • @robbertzzzzz
      @robbertzzzzz Před rokem

      @@DylanParisMusic Well you wouldn't be recording audio, you'd be recording midi. The audio gets recorded when you render. IF (big if) that workflow actually works.

    Can you explain the mono sampling? When you sample in, it is in mono correct? What are you having to do to have them play in stereo in your youtube videos?

    • @DylanParisMusic
      @DylanParisMusic  Před rokem +1

      Yeah basically all samples on the device are mono whether you record them or load them. Then you can route the sounds to effects like Reverb, Delay, and a master Space effect, along with panning and the like. These introduce stereo back to the mix

    I have an original tracker, had you had a chance to get your hands on the mini at all? Im in split minds about the mini

    • @DylanParisMusic
      @DylanParisMusic  Před rokem

      Sadly I haven’t been able to play with the mini yet. It looks REALLY cool but I do think the lack of the pads will actually make it way less useful for how I use the tracker. Stereo sampling, battery, and form factor are really cool though.

  • @milk_bath
    @milk_bath Před rokem

    How are you adjusting to the hexadecimal values? I love Elektron parameter locking on Digitakt, but I’d like to have a lot of the features the Tracker offers.

    • @DylanParisMusic
      @DylanParisMusic  Před rokem

      You can adjust them per step similar to trig locks by being in record mode and then adjusting the value of any of the colored buttons which match the color of the values (note, instrument, fx1, fx2)

    • @milk_bath
      @milk_bath Před rokem

      @@DylanParisMusic Thanks. I poorly worded my question, allow me to try again. How is the UX for you adjust the values? I worry that a hexadecimal symbol would be harder to remember what the value means, and scrolling to find the desired note, instrument, effect would be tedious. Compared to the Digitakt UX where you hold the step, go to the parameter, and adjust with a knob.

    • @DylanParisMusic
      @DylanParisMusic  Před rokem

      It’s actually pretty intuitive! If you hold the given button on a step you can either scroll or use the pads to choose a value per element per step, or you can record in real-time, or you can select multiple steps and apply random or chosen values per element per step
