- Just a reminder that this is super basic set up. Sometimes the surgeon might ask for something else and that's ok. Not all set ups are the same from everybody but all patients have the same layers of skin so the instruments I put on my mayo have to make sense. I wouldn't put a deep retractor is we're not even going inside the peritoneum. It has to make sense. Keep that in mind.

I saw a video where you stated sometimes you would pass meds to the surgeon. How important is it to learn the medication especially when we label them?
How many hours do you have to be able to sterilize and set up everything before they come ?
Hey I have a question maybe you can help me. I currently run deliveries in a nursing home and want to further my career and was looking into surgical tech. But I had a kidney transplant 3 years ago and was wondering if this is a good career choice. Also how long do you have to go to school for? I never went to college but also idk if there's any other field in the hospital I can go. Any help would be greatly appreciated

@@vgorp3849 Yeah, the table drape with one huge towel over it. The large towel for reinforcement on the back table cover.
@@shaymus099 yeah its called the back table drape. It's comes in a pack from medline.
@@SURGICALTECHGEEK Do those back table drapes come pre-towel reinforced? Ours in our hospital's packs are thin and suck.

What if a surgical tech has to use the bathroom during surgery and can't wait
I wonder this too. I tend to use the restroom quit frequently.
when ur in the environment its just different u wont feel it
