    the girl who stepped out of the building in the military uniform and looked up at the planes in the sky was the captain of the Nightwitches, then you obviously had the spartans marching with the soldiers, the soldiers on the horses in the armor were Robert the Bruce and his brother (i believe it was his brother), the old car was a nod to Archduke Ferdinand and his assassination, the two biplanes are a reference to Manfred von Richtofen AKA "The Bloody Red Baron", and the B-17 that followed closely behind the biplanes was a reference to the "Franz Stiglar Incident" where Franz Stiglar escorted the B-17 "Ye Olde Pub" to safety instead of shooting it down. then of course you have the tribute to Lemmy.

    [I hope you'll forgive a pasted comment, it took me a while to write the first time.] I saw them perform this live in Leeds on the first night of the tour, and it was so emotional. So let's raise a few glasses: to Birmingham, birthplace of metal; to Lemmy (RIP); to Sabaton; and to those who sacrificed so much. My wife's grandfather was one of those who lied about his age - he was only _14_ when he went to the Front! He got out alive, thanks to some amazing luck: he was wounded and taken to a field hospital, and his own father was there at the same time. He swore a lot when he saw his son, then wrote to his wife back home explaining the situation. She in turn sent evidence of their boy's age to the War Office and they pulled him out. After he came home he never spoke to anyone in the family about his experiences. Greetings from South Yorkshire - Lest We Forget.

      Also, if you've not heard it, Al Stewart's _The_ _Road_ _to_ _Moscow_ is definitely worth a listen. Actually, I recommend the whole of his "Past, Present, and Future" album, which works its way through the 20th Century; but if you only do one song, TRtM is the one to go for. I don't think there's an official video.

    The downright creepiest thing in this video is the ecru/white cabriolet standing motionless in the street - it's the abandoned car of Franz Ferdinand of Austria, it's the herald of the Apocalypse of the Old World - the death of the Royal and Imperial couple heralding 30 following years of bloodshed in an intensity and on a scale never seen before or since.

    well you were a bit making a fault during your speech. if you red that last part correctly. you said 19.000 killed then first day and 57,000 in total, but no those 19.000 were just before noon after that all the others still died and only the first day 57.000 thousand english soldiers were killed. 300.000 after this battle for another 3 miles so 6 miles in total. by the way not only the two remaining motörhead members were included but also the man holding up the picture of lemmy is an important one mentioned later in the credits as eddy rocha tourmanager of sabaton but formerly years long tourmanager of motörhead. for the rest most of the whole video is based upon eastereggs of other songs of sabaton. like the clothing of during the guitarsolo and snaresolo which where based upon swedish army cloths during the times of carolus rex and other parts are mentioned but this had also a special purpose namely to put all this as part of every war. the text can be standing for regardless which war is happening. like now the war between russia and ukraine. as you can see o n this comment I'm also a historynerd.

    When commenting during a song I would have liked to see better calculated pauses, for instance between verses, or simply save your thoughts for after the song. And Sabaton tend to put a lot of effort even in the making of the credits, especially for this music video, bit of a shame to cut there. They're half the length of the song for a reason...😒

  • @ThisTrainIsLost

    The greatest difference is that Lemmy's vocal carries more emotion. He didn't need a full orchestra.

    • @lasmirandadennsiewillja9435
      @lasmirandadennsiewillja9435 Před rokem +4

      I wouldn't say that's what is happening. Lemmy's vocals carry a different emotion, and the funeral-like music emphasises it: Sadness. It wouldn't be as impactful if they had chosen a more epic instrumental performance. That his vocals are more subdued is also a choice. When Lemmy sings it, it's sadness and regret over the manufactured tragedy that happened.
      Sabaton, with Joakim's growling vocals and the louder, more complex orchestra? Anger. Anger over the tragedy, pain, and injustice that those who fell that day were not given the time to feel.
      Both are great songs, great performances, and both deliver different emotions that both fit the song.
      I wish there was a way to have two more covers of the song - one carrying the emotion of denial and one that expresses bargain. Leaving out acceptance would be a statement on its own.
