I caught a 35lb grass carp last year. What’s interesting is grass carp don’t fight in the water but fight really hard on land.

Definitely not scared of a carp haha, only thing I was scared of was the hook pulling. Caught close to 100 of em so no stress thanks for the nice comment

Awesome vid and I knew you was young by using bread I haven't seen anyone bread fish in about 30 to 40 years now and you might wanna think about buying you a dip net no sense in taking health risks from bacteria and snakes and gators in the water but great vid young man you gained another subscriber see ya in the next video

Reminds me of the first salmon i caught on an umdersized six and a half foot rod with 6 lb test line. Took over an hour to land. I also never use a net but sure could have used one that day. Shortly after that catch i upgraded my salmon fishing equipment to a ten foot g-loomis IMX with 10 lb flourocarbon.

These carp are bred and put in these Florida lakes by Fwc to control the plant and weed populations.

Please buy a landing net if you want to catch big carp. It's stresses the fish out trying to grab them. Watch some European carp fishing videos - they all have big landing nets and know how to look after the fish.

It’s actually the opposite here, they’re put into the ponds and lakes to control the invasive plants and weeds.
if you care about the fish buy a unhook mat. these are to heavy to lay on the floor. their inside can damage just like with catfish.

Or better yet a rod and reel with enough backbone to allow you to land the fish in a proper amount of time. I know this is a carp so likely it would survive but many other species would not. I once seen a guy catch a pike in the 8-10 lb range on a five foot six ultralight ugly stick but a fight that should have been 5-10 minutes at most took close to half an hour. When he let it go he held the fish up for a few minutes before he thought it was recovered enough to swim off. When he did let it go the fish very slowly started to swim back to the depths but just as it was about to disappear from sight a huge snapping turtle grabbed it and finished him off. There was no doubt in my mind that if he had of had proper size equipment he would not have had to tire it out to complete exhaustion which is why the pike wasn't able to swim off with enough energy to avoid the snapping turtle. A lesson for yall. Use a rod and reel with adequate size and strength to properly land the species of fish you are targeting unlike the guy in this video.
