That is out of this world!!! I am so impressed by this, because, when I begin my painting process, I do a dry run through. Like an Olympic Downhill Skier visualizing the run down the slalom before the descent. I also physically and mentally visualize myself from start to the final stroke of my signature.. Carefully, I have prepared my pallet of colors and brush selection, next to my sanded and primed panel, under the natural sun light and a musical score by Philip Glass in the air.
Your approach is much like mine, however, where you block in your form with shapes of light, medium and dark values that are well thought out. Almost as if Jacques Louis David was guiding your hand and mind,
My attack is deliberate and cavalier. Immediately I begin the composition with a Romanticized Rococo vibrato, using a whip like movement, just imagine Whistler and Jackson Pollack in a semi- violent auto collision, you get my point.
I did take notice of your loose fields of colors, a top calligraphic brush strokes, as they began to take form...and thought~ "Ah ha!!!, Caravaggio!!!", So he is well versed in the techniques of "chiaro~escuro" .
Then, I redirected my focus and attention into myself and to the atmosphere of my Salon... and in a kinda Van Gough deranged frenzy~ the art spirit, I followed to an abyss'. When I looked in it looked back at me in an ambiance of melancholy piano notes amid a most insidious gaze .
The Hours passed as darkness and a cold chill set in. Done!!!, go home. My best work~. I should have made a how to video. Except in the sparse light the eye on my "Master Work" seemed ever so gingerly to slide and slightly droop .
That same voice in my head, screaming. "why'd you go to art school!!!""Paint~ You damn fool!!!"... "Art is life and life is an empty canvas... Coco~Puffs!!!" . "Maybe Philosophy is my thing" ...So with great conviction and the passion of Turner, I deeply immersed myself into my work and set off to slightly adjust the eye. It got exponentially worse as it got later. I was in a delusional state when tears began falling, like sheets of ice onto a glaciated sea of granite. Breaking like waves off the face of my masterpiece. Sweat dripped from my head and blinded my eyes and the value brand paint shifted more and lost adhesion and the eye slide off the painting.
Just like every time before I finish a great piece, this happens... I desperately began to over think, over correct.as bleeding pigment too wet, lean over fat or was it fat over lean???~Impasto, Impasta, scumbled, scrambled. Each piano note felt as if I was being punched in the head by Philip Glass himself. I felt vulnerable, not confident as the work took on the appearance of a second grade class mural project. Only this was crafted by a grown man with a B.F.A from a very expensive and reputable school of fine art. It took me back to my first day of Art School. As I sat alone in the restroom stall. I looked at the one piece of toilet paper peeking from the dispenser where it was written..."San Francisco Art Institute Diplomas~ Please take one".
It made me that much more filled with astonishment as to the true talent, beauty, skill and mastery of your painting process and You as an Artist. My sincere respect and thanks for sharing your work, which I will learn greatly from~ as it is remarkable.
Well, as the final brush stroke is done, my masterpiece transformed into an exercise in the deconstruction of beauty into the most unorthodox way to make your own color black. ( A conceptual piece)
