    Thank you! I never would have found the plug on my own. I have an OBDII reader for my cars and it has paid for itself many times over, so your video is a helpful prompt to buy one for my Interceptor.

      You’re welcome! 😀 great that my little video has been of use in keeping one of these great bikes running well!

    If anyone hasn't discovered it yet, there is a tab on the opposite side to the mounting that you lift to pull the cap off, it is slightly tucked underneath. The tabs on the side are nothing to do with removing the cap. Hope that helps. Thanks for the helpful video James.

      YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER. I searched high and low, and for some reason every person talking about the port on the GT neglected to mention how to remove the damn cap.

    I have one of these for our Himalayan's it does the job for the money. But obviously only reads the EFi ECU you would need Royal Enfield's NACS ll unit to probe the ABS system. I had to use one back in February after my local dealer misdiagnosed a ABS fault on my partners bike with a generic P code reader. I asked if they had the official unit and was told never used it and was still all wrapped up. They let me unwrap it and plug it in as the tech was unsure how to use it. I scanned the ABS control unit and got a C1021 ABS ECU Internal Fault. It was the then replaced under warranty. The original P code fault was wheel speed sensor that was replaced unnecessarily. Hitchcocks sell that scanner for £1300 just for reference!

      I’ll buy two of those then! Yes, this scanner isn’t comparable to the super-expensive pro ones but it’s certainly handy!

    Very interesting my engine management come on at 29 miles from new, it’s going back end of the month but if I can sort myself why not.

      Handy if your manage to light illuminates. And, as I said in the video, merely possessing one wards off trouble, like a lucky charm! Lol

    I cannot understand why that plug needs to be that secure, I got mine off ok,used my reader, then struggled to get the reader plug out, can imagine wires breaking off if used regularly. But they are handy.

    I have a Euro 5 Interceptor and it throws a engine management fault after any changes you make to the bike so I bought a scanner the same as the one here and it has paid for its self many times over

    Got one for my Audi. A dealer will charge you £40 to do a diagnostic so probably good value?

    • @internetpolification
      @internetpolification  Před 2 lety

      Yes, I think so. I mean the engine management light comes on = panic. This gadget might be reassuring by identifying a simple fix….maybe purge valve not opening or remaining open (if anyone has left the EVAP system on!), O2 sensor……. If it’s a clearly identified fault leading to one component, then replacing it would cure the issue. So, yes, I’d say worth it

    • @ijaxon6675
      @ijaxon6675 Před rokem

      The dealer is still going to place the bike on his ODB reader and likely charge you for it. The benefit is you know the code they also see so they can't bullshit you about seeing another code. The reader is simply showing what the bike's ECU is showing.

  • @conradstone6719

    Will it do the brake fluid change process?

    • @internetpolification
      @internetpolification  Před 2 lety

      In terms of detecting faults? From what I understand, this gadget is reading the ECU, so any data transmitted to the ecu should be detectable. If you check the service manual video I made and download the lo-res version, you’ll find all the rr or codes detailed in there. See if there are any pertaining to brakes……..

      @@internetpolification. So it only reads the error codes and has no other function(e.g. instructing the ECU to perform a task). Thanks for the promt response. Regards Conrad.

      @@frederickwoods5943 I did see someone clamp off the calipers to do something or other, then they just pumped the brake after taking the clamp off, making sure the reservoir didn’t run out of fluid… I’ll gen up by reading the service manual relevant section. I had a quick look a while go and it did seem involved!

      You only need to bleed the modulator if it gets air in. Otherwise bleed as normal.

    All very good. But most of what the diagnostic tells you are error codes. Where is a table of what these codes ACTUALLY MEAN? We know computer geeks LURVE an unintelligible error code, PCs are full of ‘em.

    • @internetpolification
      @internetpolification  Před 8 měsíci

      I have the full service manual that OEM technicians use. It lists all the meanings of the error codes. Unfortunately it’s too big to send to a yone by email but if anyone wants a code meaning, they can email me no problem on jamesengland1000@gmail.com
