It must feel amazing to bring an abandoned old vehicle back to life. I have so much admiration for anyone who's ever been involved in restoration work.
I love these little vans but I don't know if I would love one that much. It looks great mate you did a wonderful job on her. You deserve plenty of kudos for all the love you put into that rust bucket but you can't tell from looking now what her past was. Beautiful job!
My father got given one of these when I was 12 in the 80’s in New Zealand. It was an old painters van and had a stuck valve. Got it going and learnt to drive in it around an old workers camp where the buildings had been removed but the roads were still there. It ran on avgas and old helicopter oil. Had bunks in the back and we camp out in it in the back yard. Great times. Gave it to a sandblaster to restore and haven’t seen it since. You have done an amazing job on your restoration. WELL DONE ,!Ours had rust in all the same places and thought it was our old one at first glance (until I saw the number plate and realised it was the UK)
My dad worked for a company call Ellis's Pies in Manchester back in the '50s and drove one of these vans. He often talks about it so I thought it would be great to pick up a miniature for his next birthday and reproduce the old company van for him. I found a Corgi RAC liveried version on EBAY, stripped it down and resprayed it. I just need to get the livery transfers sorted next and thought I'd look all over the internet to find a photo of one of the vans. Then I found your video... Exactly the same colour as the one I've just resprayed. But what stands out more than anything is the bloody registration plate... It's the same one! I'm guessing Corgi used yours as the reference for their model... Cheers, a fantastic looking van!
fantastic,,my dad had one of these when i was a little boy he could never get timing set on it untill one day he met a friend who was engineer in belfast harbour northern ireland within half hour it was up and running,we had wonderful times in that van and to drive around with doors open was great,,thanks for sharing brings back much memories and you did a wonderful job restoring it.
My neighbour had one of these. It stood outside of the house for 15 years untouched. I remember as a young kid, bending the front Fenders or front mudguards. On my neighbours J2, both of these front mudguards were made completely of black shiny rubber!! My heart sank when I saw the task ahead of you - prior to restoration. A great piece of work. Greetings from Australia.
Wow , l have always like this j van , No never been in one , Did see one blown up in "Doctor who & the daleks " movie , by the Dalek space ship ! many years ago lol .
Wow, that IS a stunning restoration, and a stunning van! good job! I love those little Morris J's, they're the cat's meow. How long did the restoration actually take you?
A beautiful and worthwhile restoration, epitomises the sort of familiar vehicles that reminds me of childhood !.Is it the same engine as in the MO Oxford ?.
Make sure you've gotten stupid fuckin racket playing in background because after all that would be the only reason to look at this video wouldn't it, to listen to the shit being played.

I owned one of these back in the late 60's the first vehicle I ever owned, paid £12 for it sold for £80. Great little van.
They are worth £30,000 now restored
Excellent work there.

I think it is the sidevalve used in the MO Oxford. Later vans (JB) used the B-series.
Was it usual for these vans not to have a passenger seat?
Not on the one my father owned.
Śliczne.i urokliwe auto Morris J
I heard a Chinese company going to build this truck an electric one.
gday everone , where these cars easy to work on mechanically ,as im looking at buying one , cheers
$15k for a wreck now in AU
The bread delivery van when i was small. He later crashed into a dam and died
Posibly because it had rod brakes which made it difficult to stop in an emergency.
