It also definitely depends on the liquid lipstick. Mellow's lip paint is such a good thin formula I can reapply it without having to wipe away the old layer and it doesn't end up looking cakey at all ❤

Morning lip preparation:
Put lip balm on your lips or vaseline (i used this). Let it stay overnight and use tissue to clean your lips in morning. It'll peel the dead skin (especially me wigh chopped lips) and smooth your lips. Sorry for my english 🙃
Petroleum-based products can dry out your skin (and lips!) even more since there are no oil glands in the lips meaning the lips are very prone to drying out, especially in cold or dry climates with very little moisture
I tried the tip you told to first apply the lip balm then clean it with wet wipe and apply the lip balm again my lips now really feel moisturized and when I apply any liquid lipstick my lips look Fantabulous these DOs and DONTs are Saviour for life thanks 😊👍

This is what I do- Brush my teeth, and I always rub my lips with my toothbrush and toothpaste, to let the blood flow through and make them more plump and easier to work with. After Im done, when skin is soft and wet, I will slowly take off the dead skin with the towel, circular motion, until lips are completely smooth. After that, I put some oil/lipbalm or whatever, that will soften the skin of the lips. I let that sit while Im doing the rest of my make up, or while I dress or do my hair, whatever. At the end I wipe it off, and put another thin layer of lipbalm, and right after that I apply lipstick. I prefer using a darker pencil on the corner of the lips, than a brighter color of a creamy pencil that is very pigmented all the way to fully cover the lips, making my way from corners towards the center with the least coverage at the center, I leave it bare sometimes, because and at the end I put lipgloss, but just in the center. It makes them look moisturized, shiny, and the ombre effect along with the lipgloss makes them appear bigger. Also, I never cover them with foundation beforehand, I find it to make it appear more patchy and dry. My sister always admires the way I do lip make up, but really, I only put effort in lips when it comes to make up, so I kind of mastered it. The rest of the make up tho... , lets just say I dont even know the difference between primer and foundation lol.

I have figured out I can't reapply when it fades but when I'm at work taking it off is tough without makeup remover. My lips always end up irritated when I remove with damp paper towel. Putting lip balm on first makes perfect sense to break it up with the oils from it. Such a great tip!!! You just saved my lips!❤

Also good way to take off your lipstick/gloss if it isn't getting off with just wipes is to put vaseline (a little bit each wipe) on your lips and then wipe with wet wipes! I've used it a lot.

Maybe u are using a bad quality liquid lipstick
i always use lip gloss underneath the liquid matte lipstick. then apply first coat of matte and the second coat. it looks great all day. i never wipe the lip gloss off. i don't see the point. the lips have a protector barrier(lip gloss) and the outer look is matte.(it might take couple minutes to set(mattify).but i can go all day with it . and never have cracked lips. recommend my method for you. it might work for you too.

Oh wow !best do's and don'ts ive ever watched. After using colourpop's ultra matte liquid lipstick a few years back, ive always stayed away from liquid lipsticks as it made my lips super chapped and i ended up looking horrible. But ive recently wanted to try matte liquid lipsticks again because i read that it works best with overlining.But i was worried because of my bad experience with liquid lipsticks , so i started watching youtube tutorials regarding this last week , and this video was by far the most helpful and informative! Another mistake is using much darker liner than lipstick and doesn't blend it ...

Whatever I do my lips always end up cracking dry😑(even without any lipshades) Apply lipbalm? Just stays undried for 45mints max then again dry and a dragging feel. Mosturize? Tried all still same

I can’t do the foundation over my lips first cuz no matter how much I exfoliate and moisturize, the foundation (yes I’ve tried both liquid and powder) always makes my lips flaky, dry, and/or cakey 😞 a lot of lipsticks or lip anything has a similar effect. My lips will be soft, exfoliated, and moisturized, but as soon as I put something on, they’re cakey, dry, and flaking everywhere. It sucks

You should have added the no pursing of lips thing like we do with regular lipsticks because often with liquid lipsticks we then end up with patchy, uneven application. Like the saying goes, na ghar ka na ghat ka. All in all, this was a really nice helpful video.

That was for when you've put liquid lipstick on already; I was talking about when you're applying, people apply on lower lip first, and then purse their lips, so some excess gets transferred to the upper lip in case of bullet lipsticks, but in case of liquid lipsticks all that does is create unevenness. So light layers on both lips separately and no pursing while it's still drying. That's what I was getting at but ab to sab unnecessarily lamba ho gaya 😅
I have a very dry lips, it's like when I use lipstick it cracked. I used lip balm and petroleum jell but when it dry my lips continue to dry&cracked.😣 any suggestions?

Ordinary_ Girl2000 your lipbalm is not hydrating enough, you should try something a bit more rich, something of a thicker consistency with healing properties. Most chapsticks just lay on the top of your dry skin and don't do much in terms of healing, they just soften the dead bits of skin. A good balm should have a lasting effect that will keep your lips in a good condition for at least a day. I haven't tried it myself but I'm willing to buy the green one from Mentholatum because it has great reviews. Exfoliation as people said previously is also very important. There is no point in moisturizing the skin that is dead (comes off). Rub it quite a bit AFTER applying your old not very good balm and then apply the good one that you'll find.
Another tip is to avoid licking your lips, it gives the feeling of hydration for a couple of minutes but at the end of the day it just dries lips out.

Has anyone tried the Nivea 3 in 1 lipbalm? It is so good! Even if i have the most chapped lips it gives instant moisture and it's super inexpensive too (45bucks)! I use liquid lipsticks everyday but my lips still dont dry up when i use it; once in the morning and before bed!

thank for these tips, titi! these will come quite handy for me as I'm out for long parts of the day when i fail to find the opportunity to touch up on my lips.
speaking of which, my lips are perennially super dry, even during the summer, so when my liquid lipstick starts to enhance my already vivid fine lines, what can i do to stop it from tearing open my lips whenever I try to smile? this happens a couple hours after application (I use a heavy-duty lip balm underneath my liquid lipstick) and using a lip balm over it just diffuses the matte effect :/ how to make it work so that i can smile effortlessly while having gorgeous matte lips? does that sound like a contradictory statement? idk please help? :)
I tend to use a very creamy lipstick in a similar shade to touch up, it smoothes things out and makes the dry lines less visible. You could also try lip primers and lip toppers (maybelline superstay for example) to use over your liquid lipstick, this works better imho than throwing a lipbalm on top.
