- This is the MS Bolette from Fred Olsen Cruise Lines. I recently took a 9-day trip on the Bolette from Newcastle in North-East England to Northern Norway on a winter northern lights hunt: www.lifeinnorway.net/fred-ols...
I know many of you planning a Fred Olsen cruise are keen to find out more about the MS Bolette, to see if it's a good fit for you. That's the focus of this video.
Together with its sister ship the Borealis, the Bolette is new to the Fred Olsen fleet but it’s not a new ship. Fred Olsen recently bought the ships from Holland America Line. Under its former name the Amsterdam, it took its maiden voyage in the year 2000.

‘You need to go here hungry’ understatement of the video! 🤣
In Vascos, correct!!!!!
It was great meeting and chatting with you aboard the Glorious Bolette!
Likewise! So many lovely people and crew on the glorious Bolette!
This ship was a second home to us over summer, with an Arctic cruise in June followed by the Azores in August. Great ship and lovely crew.
Lovely, sounds like a great couple of trips. Thanks for watching! 🙌
Thank you for this great video. It has been most helpful in preparing me for a cruise on the Bolette next year.
I'm glad to hear it was helpful. Have a great trip, and thanks for watching :)
I'm so reassured after watching the video as I'm new to cruising & have booked for later this year. Thank you! Great video.
Thanks for watching and have a great time!
Thank you for this. We are embarking on Bolette in November for Indian Ocean and Africa Cruise, so it’s good to have a preview.
You’re welcome - that sounds like an amazing cruise. I am sure the retractable roof on the pool will be open for that one! Enjoy :)
Great video!
Thanks! And thanks for watching 🙌
Excellent review. We're going to Iceland this autumn on the Bolette. Thanks for the tour.
You’re very welcome! Have a great trip and thanks for watching 🙌
@@lifeinnorway1 Thank you. We cruised Norway and went to the arctic circle on the Ambition last year, which is a similar sized ship.
Hi 👋- I was with you aboard the Borealis on the northern lights cruise. On the 14th October I will be hosting another ukulele club, this time on the Bolette in the much warmer Canaries climate. I hope we cross paths again sometime. Peter.
Hello Peter 👋🏼 Have a great time. I am doing several northern lights cruises again next year.
Great video! We're trying FOL for the first time in August on the Bolette.
Thanks! Have a great trip! :)
Thanks for that we are sailing next year 👍
Have a great time and thanks for watching! :)
I sailed on this ship when she was the Amsterdam. It's interesting to see how many of the original features uave been retained by Fred Olsen, including the clock sculpture in the Atrium.
Interesting! I was curious about what had changed myself. Thanks for watching!
"I'll start with the most important factor on any ship: the cabins."
Wait... what? I think you meant "the buffet." 😁
Haha to be fair I did go to the buffet immediately after going to my cabin 😂
Nice to see a new video of my favourite ship, the Garden Room must be new since my last cruise in February this year. Not heard crew or anyone else pronounce the e in Bolette, not sure which is correct now.
I always thought it would be "Bolett" but the captain, cruise director and every member of the crew said "Bolett-uh" on this cruise, so I went with that :)
LIFE IN NORWAY, you are correct, I was wrong.
Hi, was looking at trying a week on the Bolette in the summer of 2024, I am a bit of a Night Owl when on Holiday, so can anyone tell me the name of the bar that stays open the latest on the Bolette and at what time it would normally close?
I can't remember the name but it's usually the observation lounge and the top & front that stays open latest, with live music, DJ etc. Times I think would vary on itineraries, time of year etc.
@@lifeinnorway1 Thank You for taking the time to respond
Do you have internet on the boat?
Internet was available for purchase. You can use 4G/5G when in port, of course.
@@lifeinnorway1 May I know how much is it?
Casino ?
There isn't one - that's why it's not in the video.
