10 Guitars,1 Solo

- I had this crazy idea to compare the sound of 10 different guitars with the same amp tone, to see how much difference there was, then I expanded the idea to try and do it all in one take....mainly to save time. Well, this was the result 😂 it's not really an accurate A B test as I was improvising the whole thing, but it's still interesting hearing the subtle differences with them all. It also kinda turned into a challenge in the end so I hope you'll enjoy watching me squirm as I go from guitar to guitar trying to get there in time....I'm not sure I particularly made in on this attempt but hey, it was all done in one and completely unrehearsed.... ;-)
I did try this on another track which went horribly wrong with Guitars falling all over the place etc etc... but let me know if you fancy seeing that version too I could maybe upload next week or something 😂
Anyway have a great weekend guys and catch you later 👍 🎸🙏

This is fun, love your playing. I don't normally like fusiony sounding runs but when you do it, it's great and you insert just right amount of hairiness to make it sound exciting.
Thanks so much man 👍🙏🎸
Excellent!!! 1 solo.....but on 9 different guitars ;) We'll need a second video for the final guitar :D
Crazy challenge, but you mastered it! 👍
Thank you mate. 👍🎸🙏
Alex is just the ultimate guitarist. Simply fantastic player…
Thx mate 👍🎸🙏
Crazy awesome idea that was! Thanks for that. The player matters most~
you didn't use the headless guitar...
Thank god, headless guitars are fugly!
Mayones Hydra. Great guitar and should have defintely been played.
Beautiful playing as always Alex! Such a pleasure listening and learning from you! Cheers mate and have a great weekend!
Yeah really good playing! 🔥🔥🔥
The first guitar sounded great, and the black guitars towards the end had lovely tones.
Darn glad to see you still have your Axis after all these years, they're amazing instruments -- you're the reason I got my semi-hollow Axis!
Hey matt, oh absolutely I'll get rid of those... They are pride of place in my collection and represent a wonderful period in my life, they are very very special to me... I hope you're still enjoying your semi-hollow axis too. All the best 👍🎸🙏
The tele has a beautiful sound but due to Teles and the way they are built are limited in tonal variations. The FG model seems to have it all! Hands down 80’s quality and tones , and the Ol’ black strat kicks their butts in so many ways! Bravo Alex cheers mate
I loved the tele's sound. Less muddy, a bit glossy, more transparent (?).
... how many guitars does a man need? One more! Nice idea and fine playing, I personally liked the beautiful telly best...
Thank you mate..... Yes I know I have far too many by then again some people collect stamps....😂 👍🎸🙏
Where’s the roadie when you need him?!
Super cool!
surelly is a new kind of training, combine staiyng in shape and playing our beloved guitars at the same time.
That was insane, Alex. It always boggles my mind how your improvised playing is better than 99% of the composed solos from other guitarists. A true master of the instrument and a musician's musician. To add to the excitement, the way you swapped from one guitar to the next was anxiety-inducing. I keep thinking you're gonna accidentally knock one into another or drop one accidentally. Some people wouldn't worry about that because they feel instruments are meant to be played and a ding or scratch here and there is expected and adds to the history of the gear. But folks in the other camp would FREAK OUT when that happens, because they tend to buy/sell gear constantly, and any blemish that might devalue the gear and lose them money when selling, would be bad.
Thank you mate... You're too kind.. Well I did another take but on a different track and I'm pretty sure I used all 10..plus some of them actually did fall over.....🙈
Will have to upload at some point, if you think you could stomach it....😂👍🎸🙏
@@AlexHutchingsMusic YES, and I'll have an EMT on standby.
Always great Mr Hutchings, but here very impressive, your playing is perfection, and your sense of music and improv'!!!!!WhaOow!!! you are a great between the greats! best regards from Reunion Island.
No phase discrepancies this time, absolute blissful sound and superb playing! Wish I could play the guitar even a fraction that good!
And not a splice in sight ! I never seen ANYONE do that ! Good Job Bro. !🔥🎸🔥
Thank you bro.... No no splices here....😂 not my style... Glad you enjoyed it... Maybe it should be a challenge we set for others? All the very best 👍🎸🙏
I guess this kind of crazy events keep a musician in a constant good shape as a performer =) Thank you for sharing, Alex💪
Thank you mate, I'm glad you think so. Thanks for watching 👍🎸🙏
Great playing and great vocals: “Waaahhh!” “Ooohhff!” “Graahhh!” 😂😂😂 Good to see you’re keeping up your New Year’s workout resolution 😜💪🏼
He forgot to turn on the auto-tune for the vocals, but still sounded great 😅
Thank you sir....😂 👍🎸🙏
Great playing as always!!
Spectacular Alex!🎶🎶🎶🎸🎸🎸👏👏👏
love the idea, love the musicality of the playing
I was watching this on TV and had to grab my phone so I could say... That was Awesome! Funny in the best way... And great playing as always! Thanks for brightening our morning!
Guitarists of youtube should try this experiment this was amazing 🔥
Haha I'd love to see that too 👍🎸🙏
What a lot of fun!!! That's sooooo good to watch and I'm not even a guitar player! Love your playing!
Im so so happy to see you still have that Axis Alex. Its been my favorite since the JTC days. Thank you for being you, you legend.
Thank you so much mate, I'll never get rid of them, they mean too much to me 👍🎸🙏
The first time I saw you was with Yamaha Pacifica. Still love that sound. Hope you make more video with that one.
Love this video. Many thing I can learn from this. Your lick your sound. Thank you for always inspiring me.
Thank you mate, yes I guess the Misty video right? That was so long ago, maybe 2011.... How time flies. Thanks for watching 👍🎸🙏
Dude that was awesome - thanksso much for this loved it and great to hear the different tones from the different guitars - great stuff love it Elt
Thank you bro.... Glad you enjoyed it... Hope you're well mate 👍🎸🙏
I always think of you playing the Axis Super Sport from all those old promo videos. You sound great on any instrument though!
Pretty epic vid man 🤘🏻
fantastic guitar range !!
..but also the playing was 10/10 :)
Increible como siempre!!! 😀
Another proof for any guitar player that the most important thing is your playing skills and not what kind of guitar, wood, finish, pickups, strings etc. you have, by listening to this video with eyes closed most people won't even notice when he switches guitars, he could have played a cheap no-name guitar and have sounded great anyway
Great playing!
Alex, I appreciate how much you challenge yourself! Better bloke than me!
Completely different subject: are you doing much studio work these days? It seems to me that many artists would benefit from your talents. If so, I would love to hear about it, i.e., support those who are supporting you. And one can never hear enough AH of course! ;-) Cheers mate and have a great weekend!
Very fun video! Next challenge, for every guitar you play solo in different key 😉 all the best man!❤️🎸🤘
or a quick drink with every guitar played...
Alex, that was just 9 guitars, if I'm not mistaken. You did forget the Mayones :D It was a fun video to watch and listen to, though :)
Thanks mate, yes I'm now realising that.... I couldn't remember in the moment I'll do it again soon using all of them.. Thanks for watching 👍🎸🙏
super video , i like the musicman axis sport most :)
Thank you sir 👍🎸🙏
Love that gnl beautiful blue tone holy moly... 🫣
I loved this idea hahah!
Although it was a little anxiety-inducing to watch you frantically grab one guitar while stepping over others! D:
Still though, well done!
Excelent!! Amazing!
Glad you think so! 👍🎸🙏
Best sounding ones for my taste:
1. the blue (G&L?) Tele
2. The Pacifica
3. The grey 8 string (Ibanez?)
4. Your b&w maple-neck strat.
Cool, nice list... And good choices... Thanks for watching 👍🎸🙏
What an incredible guitarist you are, Alex 🤘🏻
Thank you so much 👍🎸🙏
Lady’s and gents…. the undeniable Alex Hutchings!!!…I for one have NEVER seen anyone else do that…I suspect because it’s REALLY hard to do!!! Thanks and much love as always Alex 👍🎸💥😘
Hello mate, thanks man, well it started out as a silly idea a I just went for it, I'm sure plenty of people could do it but, I would also like to see it... It's certainly a challenge... I'm glad you enjoyed it mate. ;-) 👍🎸🙏
That sunburst tele is 🔥🔥🔥
I was scared stiff you were going to smack the guitars together every time you quickly put one back! And that fretboard is very very red!
Thank you mate, well there is actually an outtake video where a few of the guitars fall over...😂🙈 maybe I shouldn't upload them then? 👍🎸🙏
Aaaagh!!!!!!!@@AlexHutchingsMusic
beautiful guitars beautiful play
hahah hey alex that was fun to watch
Thanks mate, I'm glad you enjoyed it 👍🎸🙏
I just restarted the video to make sure that the 1st sounded best to my ears ! Yes it did ! Supreme playing as always ;)
interesting.. Thx so much 👍🎸🙏
Incredible! I love your 540S, it sounds so good. I have an '89 540S and it's one of my best sounding guitars. You missed out your new Mayones though!
Thank you mate, Yes I know I just realised I missed that one too... Well I have another take on another vid where I'm sure I play all 10. Will upload soon All the best 👍🎸🙏
Crazy idea indeed!
Hahah, indeed. 👍🎸🙏
Wooow 😳 !!! Much suffering, man.
Made by you everything makes sense.
Everybody loves seeing you playing the guitar... Can you imagine 10 at the same time?
A big hug Master Alex Hutchings ! ! !
Hahaha thank you man, glad you enjoyed it... Hope you're well my man 👍🎸🙏
i liked it specially the fender sound
Awesome 👍🎸🙏
That might be a 2 person challenge! :). You play and someone to hand off the guitar.
Good point I might consider that idea in the future .... Thx for watching 👍🎸🙏
Wholesome!
👍🎸🙏
You missed that crazy looking headless 7 string :D
Amazing!!
Thanks Jamie 👍🎸🙏
Insane 😂😂❤❤🎉
Miss the tone and dynamics of your Musicman from your earlier days. Fond of the GL too
Great! Still waiting for that video with UV777 in your hands :D By the way, have you even managed to get it back?
Hahah Hey Jakub, you remembered....Yes I have it back!! Thank you... I'm so pleased it sits proudly on my wall where it belongs... Maybe I should do a jem Edition? All the very best 👍🎸🙏
@@AlexHutchingsMusic That's great to hear, I ended up buying two of these as well, gorgeous axes. And yes, that's a great idea! It'd be great to watch. Have a great year Alex!
Awesomeness
awesome! but you missed the headless one :)
Darn it, I'll have to do it again 👍🎸🙏
That was awesome. Surprisingly, I thought the GL Tele sounded by far the best.
Interesting.. And thank you glad you enjoyed it 👍🎸🙏
Amazing. It’s interesting just how similar they all seem to sound with a subtle distinction between the first and one around the 7th switch out.
That just goes to show how little tone actually matters from the type/brand of Electric Guitar. It's all in
1: the player & fingers
2: the pickups
Everything else on an Electric Guitar is for looks, comfort, quality, and reliability.
If you are wanting a guitar that showcases tone based off its build, I would look at Acoustic Guitars.
It seems to me most saturated out the sound due to their high output pickups, making them all sound similar. The only ones that stood out with a bit of character, leaving some of the guitar's tone, were the two rightmost strat-like guitars on the couch, presumably because their lower output didn't flush the pre-amp like the others did.
YES!!!God how I've missed being the red dragon in action even if it was for some quick Bars, but of course great solo with some fun and taste!
Thanks so much.... Yes I'll have to get the Red dragon out more. I'm glad you love it too... 👍🎸🙏
Ibanez for me... LOVE!
What a workout for your left arm!
I bet it looked better on paper!
😅😂
I thought all of the Tele & strat type guitars sounded the best... The Frank Gambale probably sounded the best out of the double humbucker guitars, the pickups sounded more transparent
Interesting, thanks for you comments...👍🎸🙏
Dude!! I'm stressing out watching you rushing from one guitar to another! Please no scratches!!! Love your style of playing
Crazy brother
I actually really dig the Yamaha
Me too mate, ironically it's the cheapest one in the line up 👍🎸🙏
awesome
👍🎸🙏
Nice Maybe 9 diff shreds next time 😎🎈
Love this idea. Could do 8 of'em all plugged in and switched between with an ES-8 (or 9 guitars if the volume loop is also used) might be quicker change over. I dont think I have that many cables even.
Yes mate, I'm sure I could find a more efficient way of doing it, which I'll have to try with more time... I kind of enjoyed the randomness of trying this way.... But yes I'll have to get on Amazon and by some more cables myself😂 👍🎸🙏
Bummer you didn't play the Kiesel-looking guitar, maybe Hydra?
That proves that, if you have the chops, any decent guitar will do. You should have used that bender on that G&L though :)
Thank you mate...Yes I must do a video on this guitar... It's so cool 👍🎸🙏
@@AlexHutchingsMusic Absolutely! Is it a G & B bender? I've heard Jimmy Olander or Brad Paisley using these contraptions, but i'd totally love to hear someone with your stylistic background make sense of it. Thumbs up.
Every time when it comes to change strings on 10 guitars:
- Oh, shit! Here we go again... 😅
Strat !!!
Pacificas are fantastic.I have 3 pacificas.
Yes they are I always forget how good they are until I play one 👍🎸🙏
My favorites were the Waghorn Ah6 and Strat 👏👏👏
Nice, thanks mate. 👍🎸🙏
Great!! Your JEM collection probably didn’t fit into the screen, right? 😂🙏👍🎤🎸
Hello, you are amazing at improvising. If possible, provide the backingtrack?
Alexhutchingsmusic please do the same but with different amps! You are a monater of a guitarist. Please make a tour here in US. You are on my Top 3 favorite list together with Greg Howe and Gambale
Ciao qual' è la tua chitarra preferita nelle 10? I prefer Frank Gambale Ibanez and Roland Ready Fender Strat GC-1
Алекс. Красавчик гитарист. Маестро 👍👏👏👏😉🤝🎼🎶🎩🙋♂️Казахстан
