    I always thought Campra’s dances were what he was best at, but his “Dormierunt somnum suum” struck me as an amazing “sleep aria.” Often operas will have a sleep movement that is delightful, and here we get a rare one in religious music. Thank you SP, I had not heard this one before. 😊

    The opening movement is reminiscent of certain motifs from Zelenka’s Gloria (tenor aria)
