I'm so excited she just got to debut Giselle with ABT recently. Listen for tips on how she made her dreams come true.

Move over Terry Gross! Megan is a superb interviewer, using her extreme intelligence, charm and knowledge to ask extraordinary probing questions which further the dialogue into endless resonant terrain. Her organized thinking is saber sharp and always supportive. BRAVA!!!!!
Megan Fairchild is wonderful as an interviewer and as a personality. She is sweetness personified. She asks excellent questions of interest to her audience, not just to the two on the screen. And Skylar Brandt is intelligent and articulate, as well as informative and straightforward. It's very interesting to see the comparison Megan makes between NYCB and ABT.
Hi Megan! I've watched all of the interviews on your channel and I felt compelled to tell you how great they are. I have worked in media and something that most journalists/interviewers struggle with is going off on a tangent. This is really annoying for listeners who might have been waiting for the end of an answer/idea, but it is never completed as people start discussing something else.
You handle tangents like an absolute professional. It is so enjoyable to listen to relaxed yet controlled interviews. You let people speak and be spontaneous, yet you always manage to have them circle back to complete their answers. I know this requires a lot of active listening and is demanding for the interviewer, so props to you for doing it so successfully.
Amazing content, I will be on the lookout for more!
So interesting to hear Skylar's process with Giselle months ago, and now knowing she's been promoted to Principal. Megan has a great way to provide context as a dancer herself without it veering too much into 'shop talk'. Makes these dancer interviews extra enlightening.

Oh, man! Peaking through the door at an adjoining classroom, I first saw Skylar in 2003 at Scarsdale Ballet Studio. She was taking a private with Diana White. And, I said to a fellow adult dancer, "HOLY CRAP, that girl's going to be a prima ballerina!" It was all there and still is; perfect body, blinding talent, and laser focus. Plus, one of the most genuinely down-to-earth and sweetest young women I've ever met. Thank you both for another fabulous interview! xoxox
With Nutcracker just passing, it would be crazy amazing to see Skylar guest as Dew Drop. Or guest doing any Balanchine pieces. The way she can just pick things up is amazing.

@@adrianan3616 line, in a dancer, is understood to be a function of the dancer's personal geometry. One dance legend told me that she thought of it more as lines of energy that travel off into infinity. The angle of the head is obviously vitally important, that goes without saying. But the eyes are the final statement on where your energy is going as a performer. If your focus stops at the wings or the lip of the stage, then your line dies there. If your eyes are wide open and directed properly, then your dancing fills the theater. How often have you seen a dancer whose projection stops at approximately the place where the mirror is in the studio? In Skylar, you see a dancer whose eyes and energy fill the theater. There's more to say, but that's the general idea.
