I had a neighbour who once said my car was loud, so they legit called the cops on me. Lads rolls up, takes a quick listen, then tells my neighbour to politely stuff it.
I was pulled over by two traffic police officers once they did not ask my licence they just wanted to see the car i was driving (it was my aunts brothers car what my uncle overalled all original) how it looked and sounded when reved when i drove off both was standing arms folded looking.
Great cherry bombs. I added those to my Rover SD1 years ago. When I had a TR7 back in the late 1980s the conversion quote from the local garage was £5000 and that excluded the engine!
That's like when I moved into my house some little old lady said my Harley was too loud and that I needed to "turn down" the mufflers. Yeah, cause it works just like the vacuum tube radio you used to listen to FDR on. I'll just turn the volume knob on my drag pipes down.
Neighbours be like "That shit's too damn loud" Then there's me... "O rly? too loud eh?... How about now?" > open headers > fires up, revs neighbours be like "Okay, you win!!" that oughtta shut them up! lol
I wish V8s were still around, growing up and occasionally hearing that was glorious. Now we have these Germans cars that probably produce more BHP but sound like utter shit. At least Jaguar and Aston Martin are keeping them alive

My dad had a Triumph TR8 with a 4.0L V8 engine from a Range Rover. It was the first car that I drove. Magnificent car.
Loveliest sounding v8 in my opinion. Modern cars seem to concentrate on pops and crackles which drown out the burble

Germany makes more V8 powered sedans and wagons than any other country, and they sound amazing. Listen to the Audi 4.2FSI.

3.5L 215 cubic inch. It was originally a GM engine. then GM sold the rights to the engine to Rover.
