Yes Jason's life is violent and dangerous lucky he's a cop and can be shot at any time not to mention his job is 24 7 what's he going to do with the boys if he has to leave in the middle of the night for work and he has a few times once he left Jake with Sam the night she went into labor with Jake even though he did stop home for a few minutes
