I work for a company that repairs a lot of those clusters (among other clusters) and also restore the odo mileage if it shows all 9s (when the odo ROM corrupts). The solder joints do indeed fracture on these, particularly on the large IC. You can remove the board from the needle motor to avoid smudges on the gauge or damaging the needle etc (which is what I do when I reflow these by dousing the board in flux then dunk in a ultrasonic cleaner with IPA after the reflow to clean flux off).

i also have an issue on ODO it shows all 99999. how to fix it? do i have to re download hex the program?

andy Rhenz the eeprom corrupts and will need a known good hex dump and the odo value changed if necessary. The eeprom contents also has the calibration data for the gauges and depending on if it is diesel or petrol and the speed sensor type etc (different frequency per km/h etc)

@@williefleete i am trying to learn about this kind of speedometer board , please tell me ,why sometimes i hit the board and the screen shows the correct mileage and then I hit again and it back to the 9999999 error?? I guess that., something inside the eeprom is bad or just the eeprom joints are cracked.? What do you think about it? Thnks

My 98 D22 navara has the same issue. All 9s and MAX temp and fuel and speedometer and tacjl is showing way under what it should. Do you have any iead what the problem is, and can i fix it myself?

I have followed the video but releasing the gauge from the cluster was tricky. Im reluctant to work on the solder joints till i know how to replace the flat tape to the gauge
