    How to make Marseille style soap at home.
    In this video I show you how I make this Marseille style soap. Thank you for watching!
    Marseille soap is a traditional vegetable oil based hard soap, produced around the Marseille region in France.
    This soap is made with the hot process method. Lye is one of the ingredients used to make soap. Always remember to be careful and follow safety precautions when using lye, gloves and protective eye wear is a must.
    My favorite lye calculator: soapee.com/calculator
    Homemade Marseille style soap recipe:
    Olive oil 432 g
    Coconut oil 168 g
    Water 255 g
    Lye 84,8 g
    (25% lye concentration, 5% superfat)
    Optional additives:
    Green clay 4 tsp
    Sodium lactate 18 g
    This recipe makes about 950 g soap.

    I made this recipe without the clay and sodium lactate and it came out beautifully. So soft and gentle. More gentle than my real Savon de Marseille from France. I just cut it and used some for washing up. It’s beautiful. Thank you for the recipe!

      how long did you cure it please? as it contains a high amount of okive oil I am wondering about the best time to start using this type of soap 🙏🏻

    • @lindaschouten7210
      @lindaschouten7210 Před 4 měsíci +2

      @@takouar5611 hi there, if you cook the soap properly you can use it right after in hardens. With a cold process soap, you will need to wait longer. This soap works very well straight away, although I must say that my bars were a bit soft because there’s quite a bit of water in the recipe. That’s why they are still curing. It’s a lovely soap that foams well. I use it for cleaning in the kitchen. I didn’t add any clay or sodium lactate, so mine is white. You could cook the soap longer or add less water to get a harder bar. You could also add a little salt and baking soda to the water (1/2 teaspoon each for every 315 ml water) which will make the soap more firm.

    Absolutely saved this to my soap recipes to make! I am in awe at the simplicity of your soaps that blow my mind because I want the same thing! I just started making soap about 6 weeks ago and the complex recipes and "chemistry" that I've tried so far, are overwhelming to me. I have started doing 1lb batches as of today so I can start to grasp the science behind soap making so I hope I can figure it all out because I love making soap soooo much!

    もっと、スグに固まらないの?なんか、ないの?だと、ドロドロになるまでかくはんきでまぜて冷蔵庫で放置。でも、2週間かなぁ。確かにありますね。すぐ固まるだと、苛性ソーダの量を半分にして、片栗粉を埋め合わせに半分使います。お湯にしなくてもフツーに溶けますね。んで、オイルインして、かくはんきで混ぜまくる、ドロドロにしたら、タッパーにいれてフタして床か冷蔵庫に放置で、1週間後固まります。片栗粉はドロドロになってなくても、全然大丈夫でした。ドロドロにしてからまぜあわせると、3日でカチカチに固まっていました。

      Just ask google for the conversion & it takes you to a table to convert grams to oz.

    Hola me encantó este jabón y tus fórmulas sin sencillas hermosas. En caso de agregar aroma en qué momento se hace durante la cocción? 🥰🥰👏

    How much sodium lactate did you add?

      I wondered that too, but if you look carefully at the bottom of the video while she adds the sodium lactate, it reads 18g. Enlarge then video page and is shows at the bottom left.

    水減らすよりも、気持ち多めに苛性ソーダ入れたほうが、使用感よかった。計算機だと鹸化率百パーセントで、苛性ソーダの量をプラス20グラムにして、ヘラで20分ゆっくり目に混ぜ混ぜして、タッパーに入れて4週間目で白くなって、5週間目にカチカチになってて、包丁とおらなかった(笑)けど、どうにかきり、わーい(^o^) アワアワ固めでした。

    Hi Tellervo! Thanks for your lovely recipe. I really enjoy it.
    I have lots of oil forming on the soap after 12 hours, and shrinking surface, will that be still ok? (it's harden). Could you shed me lights on the reason why it happen?
    btw, in the description, lye concentration said 25%, should that be 33% instead? Thank you!

      That does not sound very good, it sounds like you didn't have a stable emulsion and the oil separated. If I had to guess I'd say you probably didn't stickblend enough. I used a lot of water because I hot processed this soap. If it's made cold processed you need much less water

    can you make this as a cold process soap instead of cooking it?

    • @tellervo.
      @tellervo.  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, just reduce the water amount

      @@tellervo. by how much? (again thank you for responding so quickly)

    • @tellervo.
      @tellervo.  Před 3 lety

      @@teecee848 You could reduce it by a third, this way you would have a 2:1 water to lye ratio.

    かなりカチカチに固まっていて、包丁で切るには2時間後位がベストです。

      @tellervo.  Před 2 lety

      It means that it's produced in the Marseille region of France, and it's traditionally made with a lot of olive oil☺ But this is just 'Marseille style' soap
