Derek Watkins.....NOBODY in L.A. or N.Y. has this sound nor can play this beautifully in the upper register of the trumpet.....being a lead trumpet sight-reading fool stuck behind a stand 100% does NOT count and is the ANTITHESIS of a Derek Watkins!

It's not as rare as you make it out to be, that;s a bit over dramatic. But yeah there are a lot of wannabes. Derek Watkins was in the very upper tier of the great players, no argument with that at all, he was a master with a glorious sound.
100% WRONG! lol and YOU prove it! You are in the majority of players who CANT or DONT sound great above high c. Your bedroom or living room doesnt count lady!

i don't like all the high squealing trumpet playing, it's just noise, but when you listen to Derek play, it's crisp, clean as a whistle in all registers. top quality, the guy is sadly missed. nobody gets close.

People mock the James Last Orchestra for being dated/corny, but it used to attract some of the best players, and it was always a well-polished outfit.

Yes, lots of people can play high notes just like lots of people can play middle C. You are obviously unable to recognise the difference between great musicianship and decent technique.
