    It is so great you are camping with your family. Being out of doors and fresh adventures is so refreshing. And the memories will last forever. Camping experiences are some of my very favorite childhood memories.

    Back in my camping days - had bins designated for camping. All the supplies were in the bins and ready to go at any time, no repacking or unpacking. For any trip, only needed to purchase food and pack clothes.

    If I'm feeling overwhelmed, I make a list. Then, I pick the most important thing I want to get done. Somehow, once something is on my list, I'm able to put it out of my mind and focus on whatever I chose to do.

    I love your videos soooo much. I recently went through a vitrectomy eye surgery to fix a macular hole in my eye and I have to be face down for 7 days with 5 minute breaks each hour so I have been watching/ listening to your videos because I love your calming voice! I’ve been watching you for several years and knew you were one I wanted to listen to during my recovery. I loved your camping trip and your update on your trip with your mom. I love the videos with your mom also, so fun!! I’m going to go back and rewatch/listen to your videos because like I said you are a very calming soul to me. Hi Shannon! It has been incredibly hot and humid here in SC but I still go outside periodically throughout the day and weed, water, just be outside which I enjoy so much.
    I also have gotten a set watch (a Parsonever, only $25 with a discount code!), and have stopped using my phone to track my steps.
    It also helps me avoid checking my email, etc and definitely off social media.
    We like to go to bed early (for us 10:00 pm), and wind down/relax.
    I play my game on my Kindle and read my book. Then sleep soundly and well.
    Your kitchen looks so pretty with the white sheer curtains.
    Thanks always for your videos. Love your family!

    My experience with camping, well, let's just say, I don't enjoy it at all. It's so much work to prepare for and I am constantly cleaning and straightening while on the trip that there is no way I can enjoy myself. To me and for me it's not very minimalist friendly to have separate sets of cooking and dishware that one must have. So, I admire your camping efforts but it's not for me.

    • @simply.clutterfree
      @simply.clutterfree Před měsícem +5

      Yes, I don't think it's for everyone. As far as having multiple kitchen items for camping is probably not needed, I personally didn't want to take glass on the trip. We don't have a lot of plastic in our everyday kitchen supplies so I opted to get some plastic stuff, but I don't really think you would have to do that. =)

      @juliab628 Před měsícem +3

      @simply.clutterfree That makes sense for those who love 🏕 ⛺️ camping.
      You also probably know that camping is ((not)) for you when you love to just be home, thinking about tasks you could be doing😅
      I do love fresh air & being outdoors, but I can get enough of that by walking on trails and at nature centers. It is most important to find what helps you unwind and then-doing just that. Slowing down and getting enough sleep and downtime is very necessary❤😊
      I am happy that so many love camping, either way though!

    Ha ha. For me I just have to really pay enough attention to my “Resent-O-Meter.” Lol. When I feel the bitchy mode coming on, I know it’s time to call a time out on everything. And then of course prioritizing things like eating decently enough (like “out to lunch don’t bother me…I’m not even here” lol) and making a good night’s sleep sacred also (like idc if the apocalypse is coming…go away…it’s bedtime lol). And then there are times I just have to leave the house altogether for awhile or check out for “personal fun time.”
    Just had to change my mindset. There will always be peoples’ needs, work, chores, goals, todo lists…none of that is ever going away. But what will go away and not exist anymore is meeting your own needs… if you don’t ever make a point to prioritize them.

    • @shannontorrens1
      @shannontorrens1  Před měsícem +1

      Hello, I am not an expert on meals by any means. But recently I have been getting more into making our food from scratch and like you said it's hard to get ahead and not get burned out. One thing I am trying out is every time I cook a dinner I try to make way more than needed for that night so we then have left overs for the next day. Last night I made quinoa and I made a double batch so we can now use that in our lunch or dinner today. This is just one thing I am experimenting with.

    • @shannontorrens1
      @shannontorrens1  Před měsícem +1

      Haha I don't know how one chicken could be 2 meals LOL. When we used to eat meat a roasted chicken would be gone after just one dinner for just my husband and me. Maybe if you pulled off all the meat and chopped it up and made it into a huge stir-fry with tons of grains and vegetables? That could get it to go a little further...
