- Altgang! What is good, In this video we listen to NF Change. Great track but I couldn't place whether it was a pop track or hip-hop, that doesn't take away from the quality of the song but was this a single for him? I feel like this track could've gone from a 9/10 to 10/10 if he had another signer bringing home that chorus. What do you think?

I'm naturally drawn more toward dark music, and ive always loved Xxxtentacions moody emo-rap, and NFs darker stuff like Therapy Session and Only. its that selfish part that doesn't want NF to go the route of Logic and spew Peace, Live, and Positivity because honestly, while I completely want the world to be full of those happy emotions, I personally resonate more with darker music. But yeah, one selfish fan to another lol, I'm sure we both just want what's best for him in the end

I do not care at all what he does songs about (will always like everything he gives out) all I care is that he feels good. wanting someone to feel bad so you can feel good is pretty stupid.

The song is most definitely about personal growth. If you look back to The Search were he is looking for the map to hope and trying to find himself “Been lookin’ for the map to hope, you seen it? Been makin’ a whole lot of Changes, wrote a song about that, you should play it.” He directly references this song in The Search which leads me to believe that he needs to make changes so that he can find the map to hope and find himself. Think of it like this, a terrible storm (the storm being traumas, pressure, stress, etc.) rolls over. Naturally, you go to hide down into your storm bunker. (The storm bunker being these awful feelings of self-hate, stress, fear, etc) The storm seems to drag out forever but eventually the thunder and rain stops, great, right? Now you can get out of the bunker, but what NF is describing is being scared to come out of that bunker because that storm dragged on for so long that the storm being gone, things being okay, seem so foreign that the idea of just coming out of the bunker into calm is so weird and frightening when the storm has raged on for so long. So, you sit there in your bunker not wanting to accept you can let go of your fear and come out. And in the song he is talking about how if he finally wants to come out of the bunker and feel okay again and search for himself probably by finding “the map to hope” he needs and wants to come out of that bunker even if he is scared to, but first, he must make changes within himself to do that.
How the heck did no one comment on this this whole time!!! This is the perfect metaphor, and I was honestly thinking something similar with the storm thing and all because that was a bit how I described my own life and struggles, and I saw that being reflected in Nate's life, struggles, and especially in this song. Change is really a foreign idea and hard thing to accept when the pain, fear, and uneasiness has been one of the only things that's familiar to you, and when it's been like that for so long you feel like, whether it's true or not, that it's become a part of who you are, and if you lost that...who would you be? Probably something or someone you wouldn't recognize, but that's probably not a completely bad thing idk. Honestly I'm still searching for the map to hope myself all these years...

speaking about NF collabing; did you know that NF ft Hopsin is a thing and may come soon? NF showed a pic of him and Hop on his twitter a few months ago and Hopsin just showed a snippet of one of his videoclips that matches NF his picture. You can see some black balloons in the back if u look good
I need this, Hop and NF are in my top 3. I was always scared of them collabing though. I feel like yea they both have meaningful messages (unless Hop is just spazing) but the approach from both artist are so different. Granted they both have good range Hop is more aggressive and vulgar with his lyrics.

I love the fact that an okay track on this album is like an 8/10 and most albums would kill for their best track to be that. As far as what he means, I think he is talking about his inner struggle to reconcile his traumas with living a healthy lifestyle, which feels foreign to him because of his past. It’s super relatable in that we all tend to either downplay our strengths or be arrogant about them because of our insecurities. I think that the way this song and Only pair together is what makes this album special.

i definitely agree with change being about personal growth. in this song he reflects on a lot of habits, thoughts and emotions which to me just perfectly fit into his theme of 'the search'. the lyrics are almost like a realization he made after a therapy session where he has been confronted with his younger self and how he used to think (about himself and life in general) and how right now he craves to change that (negative) worldview more than ever. i'm pretty sure psychoanalysts could analyze nf's music like crazy, but love that it's art so, therefore, has different meanings to different people. once again, loved your video and commentary :))

I like how you said that you don't know where to put NF because there are some songs of his that lean towards pop. I mean yes, his home is in the hiphop genre but one of the things that's amazing about him is that he's versatile at times when he wants to because man can sing as shown in some of his songs. Not alot of artist can pull that off and still have the same support as to his dominant genre
Been waiting for this one. My personal fav. It’s got a little bit of “Imagine dragons” vibe w that chorus but also shows NF is aware and wants better for his life. Family and God will bring that. He’ll have happiness to reflect on versus just only the pain of his past.

agree with the idea that it would be cool for him to collab with other artists but also thought at the same time maybe these past tracks/albums have been quite raw in terms of emotion and his past experiences. It could be pretty daunting having to share that with another artist. In a few of his songs he mentions that he feels uncomfortable sharing some of the things he does but maybe as his confidence grows and his current life experiences shape his music that might be a possibility. Also his most recent release that he first sent out a snippet of "chasing" he said he wasn't going to release it but after the appreciation from fans and their response to it he ended up releasing it with a cover a fan posted on YT which was pretty damn cool
Hey there, love the videos. Just a bit of feedback, I think the audio of your vids would be better if you were to turn down (or off) the auto-gain setting your mic/recording software has when you’re not talking.
When you’re quiet you can hear it start to increase the gain of the mic and then when you do talk, your audio clips as too loud until it comes back down a lot of times.

I think this song like the whole Search Album is about trying to move on and the fear of moving on, wanting to let go of the pain and what will he be like without it. I think he believes that his pain his weakness is also the source of his strength and success he is afraid of letting that go.

Tbh, I wouldn't call it "one of the better" songs of the album, because there is just so many amazin songs in the album. That's just my opinion tho.
I respect that. The album is great in general. This song is just one that hit the hardest for me, but everyone has their own favorites.

I have a tattoo of a black balloon on my arm and the string attached to it says "change." This is easily one of my favorite songs, but the whole thought process around it really hit home with me and has been impactful.

The way I look at it is this isn't something to look at. When he says he is looking for change I believe all of our answers won't be the same. Basically I belive that he is giving us that motivation to use to change ourselves. Basically we interpret it the way WE have to change

I feel like he wants change from how he feels all the time. He’s exhausted from being depressed, scared, trauma ridden. That’s what I get from it. I really relate to this song it’s one of my favorites. When he says ‘everyone says I’m a great guy but I feel like a fake lie’ because of my internal “me”. People look at me and I know they don’t see ME. They see the person I choose to give to the outside world. No one will ever know my internal dialogue. No one will ever really see me 100% for who I am and it makes me feel fake - but all I want is people to see I’m authentic. It’s a mind f*#k and a weird place to live in my own head. Sorry I keep comment bombing your videos lol

He personifies emotions so when he says all my emotions are violent I don't think he's saying that's he thinks violent thoughts but that the personified versions of his emotions are violent when he mentions the idea of freedom. They are fighting him

In my opinion change is about the mindset that you have and that you change while growing up
Granted my opinion is coming about after hearing all of CLOUDS (THE MIXTAPE). He’s been battling for a while now most notably in Outro I think he mentions what is he to do give up is self-hatred but if he does want that affect his music? Is that the only reason you love me? I can hear him say to himself. Well as he said in the song we just heard he doesn't like change but he will try it. And thus came clouds mixtape. I think this has been every positive song that he's written well recently anyway. Think about what he says in Clouds:

And then just think of the whole mixtape what did he do it was so ballsy? What i he bragged on himself? No he's done that before. He spit it fast and tore those tracks up like it was nothing like it was easy for him? No he's done that before too what was the only thing and he didn't do in Clouds? I submit did he didn't let the pain win. He didn't get stuck in his head he didn't talk about his depression as much it wasn't the centerpiece no is the new NF and I don't know about you but I'm excited for the new NF. He has a baby now take it from a parent of three that can change your life can you change your whole perspective on the world around you as I said I'm so excited to see what the changed NF brings us. If the Clouds was any indication I'd say he hasn't even begun to soar.

theres rumors that hes doing a colab with Hopsin. dont quote me on that but seems pretty legit as he has posted a pic about a year ago with another person, then earlier this year hopsin released a snip it of him rapping and he had the same clothes as the person on the pic NF posted. which honestly i dont doubt since NF even follows Hopsin on twitter
