Yer I think james was harsh on this, it may not stand up to todays standards but back in the 90s it was a decent movie!

worth taking into account that filming collapsed during production they lost funding and a lot of scenes didn't get filmed, i wouldn't really consider it a finished film.
it's unfair to compare the raid to this, many things are so much cheaper now in terms of filmmaking. One example is Film reels vs digital. the Raid used the Panasonic AF100 and that's relatively cheap and very easy to use whereas 90's cap would have been an Arriflex (possibly the 35 series) something very bulky that would in turn need track and trolly, cranes, and all manner of support. and in turn, need a bigger crew. the film itself would prob cost £5 per minute shot (rough guess), and the Raid team would just have to swap memory cards.
I'd rather watch this than Elektra or the Corman F4 or for that matter House of the Dead & Spice World.
The thumbs-up Mr.President stuff is totally Classic cheese cap that I'm sure even Evans would have done similar with a president scene. he is supposed to be a bit of a by-golly boy scout and he hasn't been in modern day that long at this point.
Smoking? it's very period-authentic, the vaping of today. back then most people thought it had health benefits
but yes it's not the best film and I did enjoy the discussion

Great info regarding the film making! I’m looking forward to re watching electra so I’ll let you know which I think is best! The smoking thing (as a cancer nurse) really bothered me, I think mainly because I don’t think Iv ever seen him smoke in the comics either, it’s like superman lighting up, just it’s wrong with me. I’m a bit of a Boy Scout 😂, we’re about to film our review of Punisher 89, can’t wait to see what james made of it!
