    I am so glad I found your video! 🥰 I just acquired TWO stunning caladiums from a local nursery... BEAUTIFUL well established plants for (brace yourself) EIGHT USD!!! They are gorgeous. Google lens tells me that their common name is "the heart of Jesus"... I feel like I hit the jackpot... However, if I hadn't seen your video I would have panicked in the fall when it started to die back 😂 Thank you!!

    Omg! Thank you so much for this video! I i’ve bought my caladiums a few months ago and went to CZcams to help me with the growing needs as this was the first time I have ever bought any...and guess what? There were like almost no videos talking about caladiums as indoor plants! I’m super glad you are making this video. 😊

      What is this sorcery! /s
      Joke aside, they were $10 per bulb here.
      Update : Not only was it expensive for a bulb, it was also dead. The only thing it ever produced was mold.
      Ended-up buying an already-grown Caladium from those gift-plants racks that stores recieve for Mothers' Day.
      It wasen't my ''dream Caladium'', but it was healthy, pretty-enough, and at reasonable price.
      Oh and it's doing good. I tried direct afternoon Sun and got a tiny burn on one leaf. So it needs a sheer curtain for mid-day and afternoon Sun, and it will thrive in this high light.
      I can't go over 50% humidity though. Best I can get is 35% - 50%. We will see.
      Update : Only one tiny leaf ever burned, so I gave it unfiltered Sun again and it did great.

So I have to see how you keep them in winter. Subscribed👍 Please do more videos on the grow lights with plants not seed plants. Thank you!! Love your channel and plant babies 🪴🌱🌿🥰😍

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hey so caladiums indoors will go dormant over the winter period, meaning all the leaves will die off & you can leave them be or dig out the bulbs until the following year. So I’ve not kept mine growing over winter before

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks! I suppose you could stake them but you'd have to be really careful not to stake it too close to the centre where you catch the bulb... not sure if it would be worth it really as they don't vine or anything

    I had 13 of them and non made it through the winter (I also kinda started to neglect them😅😅) so I ordered 7 different ones off a seller on Etsy for like $30USD and it’s all bulbs and it’s a total of 11-15 bulbs cuz she tends to sometimes add small extra

    My caladiums have been growing outdoors and under directly sunlight all day long. I think they love it, because they grow these giant leaves much bigger than my face, and I barely fertilize them! I don't think they can reach their full potential without direct light.

    • @familhagaudir8561
      @familhagaudir8561 Před měsícem +1

      I give mine Sun indoors too. Didn't burn last year. Dosen't burn now.
      What will burn them is sudden Sun after growing in full shade, and wind + hot dry air. All of these burn risks are worsened if the plant gets thristy.
      The plants grown in greenhouses that garden centers get delivered here often burn if put outside in the wind and Sun.

    • @Thomasgonzaleswd
      @Thomasgonzaleswd Před 21 dnem +1

      Where do you live? I live in Texas and see caladiums like warm weather but it’s like 100f weather outside and not sure if it’s better I put them on my balcony where they’re shaded all day or keep it indoors by window.

    • @amandaamanda5398
      @amandaamanda5398 Před 21 dnem +1

      @@Thomasgonzaleswd Caladiums originated in south and central America and thrive in other tropical countries such as Thailand and Indonesia where temperature constantly soars to above 100f in the summer, so they can handle hot weather. But in Texas, humidity might be on the lower side. So I guess it makes sense to shade caladiums when it's both hot and dry.

    • @Thomasgonzaleswd
      @Thomasgonzaleswd Před 20 dny +1

      @@amandaamanda5398 thanks! That what I figured since the leaves are delicate. I may try them outside but I know they still can live indoors too
