Love when the government says that “video games make kids violent” and then proceed to have the US Army develop and release a first person shooter designed with the sole intent of getting people to enlist in the army (America’s Army)
With the uvalde police response, maybe they should be recruiting kids who play those video games to replace officers who always feel their life is threatened around people who are unarmed...
I played that game way back in 2002 when I was 9 or 10. Really influenced me to want to be in the military. That game had some influence on me which is very weird thinking back now.
12 years ago my mother asked my therapist at the time (a children’s therapist specifically) if violent video games actually cause violence and she said that they actually do the opposite. They provide an outlet for anger and frustration that brings no harm to anyone but the pixelated bad guys on the screen. She even provided peer reviewed studies on the topic that reiterated her claim. But, as usual, they are being used as a scapegoat to avoid tackling the real issues 🙄
Videogames, movies, comedy shows etc. In general don't cause violence. Although I was raised on them and kinda realized my morality and seeing revenge, vengeance, and anger was seen more as a good and justified reaction which sort of made me a bit too egotistical and violent over the smallest wrongs people have done against me. But that being said. I would say media and podcasts can be harmful. I see people doing violent things and justifying it as their doing something good by repeating what someone else has said in some podcast, interview, news piece. H3h3 is a comedy show but I stopped listening to his content and podcast because he started to sound more unhinged as time went on. One obvious observation would be the audience he has now compared to what he had a few years ago. It's completely different and they are people he would have made fun of back then. This current situation. Even the clip in context isn't really helping him at all. But I do understand his anger and frustration.
“Cause violence” is probably a bad term, desensitize people to violence is probably a more apt description. But it’s not just video games, a 24/7 news cycle that promotes the worst of the worst. Combine that with mental illness and the proliferation of psychotropic drugs that lower inhibitions etc. it’s hard to deny that it’s a factor, but not a “cause”.
And the source of the anger and frustration is the endless attack and demonizing of men. The US has dislodged men from society. Constantly belittles their contributions and attacks them. Replaces them with government checks (AKA absent father syndrome). And then wonders why we have such a problem with young men and extreme violence. Doesn't matter if it's Latino in this case. The endless young men in gangs. Or white. It's across all demographics. And it's showing up elsewhere. Insane suicide rates in men. College attendance is down to 40.2% men. It's disgusting what we've done to generations of young men.
“We need fewer doors in school”. Yea. Let’s just funnel kids trying to escape for their lives into one area. Soon we’ll have to replace the phrase “like shooting fish in a barrel.”
Just put them in a concrete box, because as soon as doors aren’t enough they’re going to take windows. I hate it here… what a stupid thing to say “too many doors” ugh.
The whole "violent video games cause mass shootings" has gone from groan worthy to legit anger inducing for me. Instead of trying to figure out the real problem, they just rather push the blame to something else. I saw someone post two graphs recently. One showed how many countries play "violent video games" and the other showed how many countries have constant "mass shootings". Guess what! Countries that do play these games DON'T have constant shootings like this! Maybe none at all! I want Ted Cruz or whoever to explain that. How is it that video games are to blame when other countries don't have these shootings? No. It's an American problem and it's because we have other factors than just "video games", and until we address the REAL issues nothing is gonna change.
The one thing I don't understand. Even if video games caused violence, there can still be multiple causes? Like, doctors don't go "Chips aren't bad for your health, bacon is" then all the research goes into making bacon healthy or whatever
I preferred the maps that showed the relevance between mass shootings and random irrelevant stuff. Because the 'shootings' map basically just showed population density.
I used to think it was ridiculous, but now I think they definitely contribute. I think video games, entertainment, social media, etc. have evolved to a point where people are ok being alone. Over 20% of millennials say they have no close friends. I think that is the group most likely to commit a mass shooting and it is growing.

I love how a dude who tried to deface the mona lisa is getting media attention, but the guy who burned himself alive in front of parliament, for the very same cause, gets nothing
I'm pro 2A and nobody I watched on this whole H3 ordeal had shown the rest of the clip. Countless people who claim to "do the research" and "get context" making themselves to be complete hypocrites. Unbelievable. Thanks for giving context.
As someone who has played violent video games since I was 5 years old, (My parents obviously did not know I was playing Halo when my aunt babysat me) I have never been in a single fight in my whole life. Politicians will say whatever they think their constituents want to hear.
Yup video games turn you into a homicidal psycho but hunting for sport is just good ole fashion all American fun. The first sign of a psychopath is killing animals as a child I wonder which hobby they’d gravitate towards 🤔 Let’s just go ahead and ignore decades of research debunking recreation’s link to violent behaviour
I’ll second that. I’m a complete menace in GTA. I love battlefield and it’s satisfying getting a turret to blow off a tank in war Thunder. That being said? I’m with ya. Never been in a fight. Never felt the need to be aggressive towards another.. video games are not the problem. Hell, am I gunna become Kylo Ren after finishing the Lego Starwars Saga?!?
Exactly I would say violent video games helped me not be violent for 2 reasons. 1) whenever I was pissed off at someone or something, I would play video games to let off that steam in a non-violent real life way. 2) Playing violent video showed me many ways I don't want to get hurt. So I avoided being stupid so I didn't get myself into stupid violent situations. As the person above mentioned being a menace in GTA is all good & fun because my character is the one that gets hurt or dies. Though that doesn't mean I'm insane enough to start a fight or run up to a car at a red light, yank the driver out, and steal their car. Why? Because I know I would have to deal with the same consequences my character did but on a more serious scale. Plus as I driver I always keep my door locked whenever I'm inside, because I do know that I really can't do anything if anyone decided to run up and pull me out of it. I'm weak and have a low pain tolerance 😂😂😂. Though I would have never imagined that could have happened of if it weren't for games. Though i also think people forget the most important thing about gaming. Alot of people don't HAVE to be violent in real life because they can be as violent as they want in games. The reason games are called wish fulfillments, is because they FUFILL all of the violent wishes you could think of in a millions different ways 🙄🙄
@@monkeydluffy6446 exactly. Being forced to confront the real possibility of death is a good way to realize you don’t want to be in those situations. I remember a story told in churches of some lawyers trying to plead insanity on behalf of a kid who killed his parents and thought they would respawn. I looked it up and found it was all a lie. That was when I quit listening to republicans altogether.
And the “tyrannical government can’t tell us what to do with our guns or who can have guns or where we can’t have guns muh freedumz” NRA crowd just accepted that request from the very same tyrannical government they want these guns to defend themselves against?! HOW CAN THAT BE

He walked it back immediately. Everyone gets passionate when kids are being killed and they’re not fixing the issue. If it was someone I loved who got killed I would burn everything down.
if i said someone should kill your entire family then said actually kill them with kindness and say it was all a joke would you accept it as a joke or a threat of violence.
Yeah lets just murder more people over someone else's family dying, its literally this kind of rhetoric that causes more of these tragedies and anyone who apologizes for this behavior or rhetoric is complicit in more tragedies to come.
The video was a terms of service violation for serval reasons and CZcams can’t be biased. It has pulled videos, demonetized creators or banned channels for less than this. Even Phil has had videos throttled or suppressed for less, just covering what other people said or did.
There is at least some awareness bias, still, though. Many channels (especially in gaming) skate by suicide or other restricted verbiage by saying "in Minecraft" after it. It's clearly added to avoid the terms of service. The awareness bias is mostly whether or not the channel's audience reports it, though. Not trying to flame CZcams moderators.
And just because they got banned don't make it right You're just pointing fingers like a kid getting in trouble in school like "but miss but miss he did it too!" Shut up boy, you're saying all those people getting banned for little shit was right? Like two wrongs don't make a right my doggie
As someone with recovering foot in mouth syndrome, I understand Ethan. It takes a lot of brain power to think before speaking when you feel passionately about something
I think anyone who’s watched any one episode of Ethan’s podcasts will know that he’s known to throw out impulsive, inappropriate commentary on stuff that bothers him, but then he and those around him immediately shut it down and correct it. Idk. If you’re offended about what he said rather than what Texas cops/politicians have not done in order for us to get to this place where Ethan’s talking about it…maybe you’re missing the point.
@@trailersfromhell2539 if that was the case, they wouldn’t try to cut him off or correct him. And Hasan piker wouldn’t host a show with him. He’s not Steven crowder.

I’m not a huge fan of Ethan but one slip of the tongue over a passionate subject regarding the wasted deaths of all those children doesn’t mean that Ethan should be getting death threats and anti-Semitic hate! Children are dead! That’s all that should be being spoken about…
Honestly im about in the same boat, i am kinda meh on Ethan but yeah I am personally appalled by the NRA STILL having rallies in areas days after a shooting, and its hard not to have that anger slip out.
I agree however right wingers have been banned for less direct calls for violence and a lot of people on the left don't accept the it's a joke, and if I remember Ethan himself says that it's not a reasonable excuse
He has been swatted as well before at their old home twice and the people that got caught were arrested on serious charges they had swatted other people too. They deliberately times it to happen when Ethan, Hila, and their then newborn arrived home from a flight. Thankfully no one was hurt on both occasions.
Yeah and 3 weeks ago you all were at his throat for making a joke about a "power bottom". But make a terroristic call and the talking point is "he was just tha passionatez!!!".

I can only imagine that I would have the same reaction lmao... I'm both someone with a really broad sense of humor and someone who also nerves when I'm nervous, so between the initial "Oh shit are they okay?" and seeing someone promptly and unexpectedly yeeted from their chair... 11/10 would get cramps from laughing so hard. If they were okay. Realizing they're hurt makes it take a 180 reeeeal fast.
@@manspider6574 oh that's right, the America-only problem of consistent and preventable murders of children is just SO sensationalized, freedom should me we're ALLOWED to kill children actually, it's just that BIG NEWS makes it SEEM immoral
The mona lisa story reminds me of the meme reddit post that basically said that one day someone will utter your name for the final time, and then you'll be forgotten to the world forever. And the first comment was "not if I eat the mono lisa"
Ethan puts his foot in his mouth twelve times an hour but he’s obviously not actually advocating for violence. People who took that clip out of context did so in bad faith, period.
Imagine if he said the N word and then spent the next 3 minutes trying to “Roll it back” when he realized just how far over the line he stepped. What do you imagine the reaction would be to that? He said it, he meant it, and should have apologized for it instead of pretending it was all a joke.
Yeah! The problem isn't covering your feet, it's poorly designed shoes that are meant for walking on concrete. Even if you wear "barefoot shoes" it wouldn't benefit you unless you where hiking.
Literally, if she weren’t literally walking on concrete and asphalt I’d at least be like “yeah that’s reasonable”. But boss babe no not in the concrete jungle
I’ve been told, the first thought that goes through your head, is the way society has shaped you. The second thought that goes through your head is who you are as a person. Ethan is fine. If it took two days for him to recant what he said that’d be an issue, but if you immediately say that was a bad thing to say and change your words, forgive, but don’t forget. When you forget, history repeats itself.
...That isn't the problem, though. It doesn't matter if Ethan didn't mean it. This is about understanding the power that comes from having a big platform, and that yes, different rules apply to someone who is regularly influencing millions of people at a time. I'm for the _complete_ abolition of guns in the long term, I adamantly support gun legislation, I hate the NRA and Greg Abbot. I'm a democrat and I think Ethan and I are generally on the same page when it comes to basic politics. That said, Ethan is a scumbag and I'm so tired of people defending him every time he makes a huge fuckup then takes zero responsibility for it. He's proven time and time again he doesn't appreciate the scale of his platform, and (despite varied politics) I'd put him in the same bag as Joe Rogan or JK Rowling... they're brashly ignorant, they're unwilling to do any serious research, and they're so indignant about any level of criticism that they sweep mistakes under the run and cherry-pick critics to strawman so they can "just move on" instead taking a look inward to honestly address the issue. Horseshit. I think we can agree, large influencers can't be held responsible for the actions of every single fan. But, when you have upwards of 3 million subscribers, it's statistically likely that a _couple_ of those fans have debilitating/untreated mental health struggles. One may even be fantasizing about violent martyrdom, and needs only the validation of an idol to cross that line. The initial joke was in poor taste, but what's worse is how Ethan's "fixing" of the joke just involved doubling down via thinly veiled and increasingly violent implications about "executing" NRA members "with love". His apology was rife with sarcasm, and there's no point in talking about kindness when it's clear you feel the opposite. If you can't be serious during an apology, you aren't serious about the apology. Here's a question: If, following Ethan's comments, one of his fans DID perform a violent attack on the NRA, would people then hold Ethan somewhat culpable? If the answer is yes to ANY capacity, it makes no difference whether it happens. Just like drinking and driving is unethical no matter how many times you _don't_ cause a fatal accident. Until you do. Once again (it's a theme with Ethan) his comments were dangerous and were not properly addressed despite many chances to do so. Trump didn't say "Everyone break into the capital and physically attack your lawmakers" either, but that's what was implied, so that's what they did. Ethan literally said "someone should bomb the NRA". Trump had upwards of 75 million voters, and only ~2500 stormed the capital. That's 0.003% of his loyalists. That's all it takes. Most importantly, it's not about the NRA. Even if literally _everyone_ inside the NRA HQ is pure evil - they're not the only people who would suffer from an attack. There are innocent bystanders, there are janitorial staff, there are probably sometimes people there who are (for various purposes) NOT loyal to the NRA. If even ONE innocent person is hurt/killed over the careless rhetoric of an influencer, something has gone seriously wrong. It's that simple, and people who call themselves progressive/humanitarian but can't comprehend this are hypocrites. Not to mention, short-sighted retribution does nothing but perpetuate disgusting organizations like the NRA by giving them a scapegoat and making them the victims, rather than the children dying every year. "When you forget, history repeats itself." Yes, like the history of Ethan saying some inflammatory shit and then "IT'S A JOKE BRO"-ing it away. Fuck that guy.
Proper qualifications and testing to own guns is COMMON SENSE, we have to test to have a license to drive a car because its dangerous, but we dont need a license to own a gun that can do WAY more damage? Absolutely ridiculous..
Honestly I get Ethan’s frustration. Feel like since I was in school I’ve seen kids nicely ask for the government to intervene, and the government offer nothing but their thoughts and preyers, acting like that somehow undoes mass trauma. And some politicians going further to blame survivors for the event claiming the shooters were bullied, minimizing these mass shooting to children acting out. And as I seen with other issues, they will not care until it’s them. Do I feel guilty about having these thoughts of violence? Of course, but I just no longer see another way. Bills only have a 30% chance of survival on the house and senate floors, and public support for those bills does not change that. Do you wanna know what does improve a bills chances of becoming a statue? Lobbying. Our representatives have no interest in acting on public favor, only what will line their pockets. If that’s how it’s going to be, then fine. But, it should be them and the lobbyists living with that decision not children.
Yeah, honestly it was a little cathartic to hear him joke like that. The whole thing makes you feel powerless and that was just a very understandable moment.
I'm a new teacher and I was talking to some of my colleagues about how I don't remember a time when I didn't have to do school shooting drills... because I was an elementary school student when we started doing them.
Don't feel guilty for having thoughts of violence. We have been gaslit into believing we need to peacefully and quietly accept whatever the right deems to be "acceptable" consequences of their ridiculous worldview that they have unfairly and undemocratically FORCED upon this nation for the last 40 years. Children are dying en masse because of Republicans. Gay people have died en masse because of Republicans. Women are soon going to die en masse because of Republicans. Black people have died en masse because of Republicans. The poor stay poor because of Republicans. Our children can't get proper education because of Republicans. The school to prison pipeline exists almost entirely because of Republicans. The fact that we have 25% of the entire world's prisoners exists because of Republicans. We destroy our environment because of Republicans. We kill brown people in other countries because of Republicans. Russia has infiltrated our democracy because of Republicans. Voting rights are gutted because of Republicans. Trans kids die because of Republicans. Deregulated markets that take away lives and livelihoods exists because of Republicans. The Alt-Right is only thriving because of Republicans. Our democracy is at threat because of Republicans. The horrific mass-suffering at the hands of drugs exists because of Republicans. A million+ dead from covid because of Republicans. The rise of Neo-Nazism because of Republicans. The normalization of anti-intellectualism because of Republicans. Almost every major issue that directly takes away lives, livelihoods, equality, equity, happiness, time, sanity, and hope exists BECAUSE OF REPUBLICANS. We've been gaslit into believing it's a both sides issue but if you take a month to research every single problem we have, they almost all exist because of Republicans. Desiring violence, desiring to revolt and destroy the system at this point? It's normal. Revolutions happen all the time - the rich are beheaded and the cycle resets because of times like the one we're in. You shouldn't feel guilty. You SHOULD be angry. You SHOULD be so angry that you feel like becoming the monster they say you are, just so you can see the looks on their faces as you do what they thought you never would. THEY ARE TRYING TO ESTABLISH A FASCIST THEOCRACY, and everything that comes with it. Their end goal is genocide. Their end goal is oppression. Their end goal is the destruction of any kind of freedom that goes against their notions of what makes a "decent" world. Are you gay? Trans? A woman? Black? Asian? South American? A "deviant"? A free thinker? An egalitarian? Someone who shows empathy? Then you're on the chopping block. They want you dead. They don't even care about children dying, because it gets in the way of their narrative about gun rights. Being angry and driven towards violence because they're legitimately taking steps towards a fascist theocracy isn't something to be guilty about. THEY HAVE ALREADY GOTTEN VIOLENT. Charlottesville. The insurrection. Buffalo. The michigan governer. Biden busses. A scary amount of houses in rural America now have the black american flag hanging outside their doors. The flag of "take no prisoners". The flag of "kill or be killed". The flag of "we will kill all those we don't like as soon as we have the chance". They are already violent and ready for violence. We must prepare. Good news, we can overcome them still. But not for long. Vote. Speak up. Talk with people. Be passionate. Don't budge. Shut them down when they try to overpower you. Support activists. Become an activist. Time is running out. Act peacefully now while that option is still viable.
My high-school had a shooting my freshman year. During school hours they keep all doors locked from the outside. You have to enter from the front and you get buzzed it after showing your student ID to the camera....the shooter was a student. Flashed his ID they buzzed him in and the rest played out. I wonder what was the problem there, the door or the gun? Also, two things can be true at once. Some schools might need better security to monitor who's going in and out but we ALSO need more gun control.
there is already plenty of gun control, you literally can't account for scenario... no matter how hard you try, the gun control won't do anything. if someone is willing to commit a mass murder, let alone on fellow students or kids... they are too far gone, you do know a black market exists right? they could always get one off there, even if not, they might have a family member that passed all background checks and is completely responsible, hides the gun in a safe and everything and their kid watched him input the code once and stole it... like literally you can't account for every factor.
there is already in most states even republican ones, a type of background check (depending on the state it can take hours, days, weeks) you HAVE to have an id, and your gun gets registered so if you do something illegal they can track the gun that did it. thats literally all the gun control you need... the problem is no matter what you do, evil people will be evil.
Hearing all of the "issues" that Ted Cruz mentioned just made me go: All of those things exist all over the world. Take Switzerland, for instance, where they have a lot of guns but no mass shootings. They have video games there, and I'm sure they have broken homes, absent fathers etc as well. I do agree with him that it's a cultural issue, but not really because of the things that he mentioned. Especially not video games, or other entertainment. Granted, I'm from Sweden so I'm sure that there are nuances to the American society that I'm not aware of. But I'm also a gamer and I know that for me games can be an outlet for frustration etc. So that you don't take it out on the outside world. You know, the opposite of what people that blame games for stuff like this think that they do.
Absent fathers and broken homes as so minuscule in Switzerland, it isn’t a problem. Switzerland is a tiny nation compared to the U.S. its culturally homogeneous too.
Basically the only two things Switzerland and the US have in common are democracy and their love for guns. The two countries are so colossally different, it isn't even worth comparing the two on this issue.
Guns should have the same level of regulation as cars, at a minimum. Owners should have to register, carry insurance, get training, and be licensed, along side undergoing a background check. They should also have to renew that license and training ever few years.
100% this. it sounds absolutely INSANE to me as an european that it isn't a thing. americans' obsession with guns is sickening. guns are tools created for taking life, and they wonder why there should be regulations for them??? when even cars do?
For one thing cars aren't in the bill of rights (despite the insane ramblings of sovcits). For another i don't need any of that to actually own a car, only to operate on public roads. A 12 yo that's saved all of his birthday money from his rich grandparents can buy a jeep off Craigslist, have it towed home on a flat bed, and he can drive it around his property (his parents property) as much as he wants, no registration, inspection, or license, or insurance. Just the title.
@@herculesbrofister265 that's a miss read of the 2nd amendment that got pushed due to the NRA pumping millions into bribes to make it legal. You're other point is right tho. We however need to go the British route of limiting the number of guns and ammo we can sell people as well as having actual training, insurance and very hard background and mental health checks to own guns. And yes most western cultures can own guns it's just extremely hard to so it's not common and everytime they do have a shooting they tighten up their policies to make it even harder. America can do the same thing if we stopped letting the NRA win via bribing the government. The NRA is the reason why we have a mass shooting every fucking month and 99% of those shootings are done with legally purchased guns.
I don't see how any of those things would have prevented a single case of mass murder. Therefore it is pointlessly adding legal hoops for people to jump through and labeling normal people criminals when they fail to meet these new standards for whatever reason, "but they are criminals, they broke the new gun laws", so was anyone who bought alcohol during prohibition. We don't need to find more ways to create "criminals" out of normal people while having zero impact on actual criminals or stopping crime.

Obviously the school shooting story is drastically worse, but also Ethan still made a god damn bomb threat on his show. That's not really something to just ignore either. By that logic everyone would do bad/questionable things only when a bigger story was happening and get away with it.
You know when you hate someone and everything they do annoys you or makes you angry even if what they did isn't as bad as you think it is? I feel like Ethan is one of those people for a lot of other people.
@Raging Barbarian that's debatable. If he didn't immediately afterwards acknowledge that it was over the line and he shouldn't have said it then I'd agree.

It was a dumb joke by Ethan, but he did backtrack well enough and made his real intentions of no violence clear enough. Everyone slips up when talking, so people need to relax. To be clear, I am NOT a fan of Ethan.

Kind of. Ethan has been on a steady decline for years. He was great and even stood up for all voices. Now he is just an entitled, wealthy, anti-conservative, pro establishment Democrat.
And in the same podcast he made a joke about "what if a mass shooting happened in a walmart", despite his wife, and whoever was there during the playing of the podcast, said DON'T make the joke multiple times. The fact he's making such jokes not even a month after Uvalde happened is disgusting. On top of you know, anyone else would get a termination of their account. @@TheRealKSmith I'll take the middle position, I can be outraged at the killer who was evil enough to do this to children while also not supporting laws that punish law-abiding gun-owners. im for carefully worded red flag laws (I don't want ableism or political discrimination coded in these laws nor do I want them easily abused against people you don't like by claiming they're a danger regardless if true. but if absolute evidence is found, not only should a person who is dangerous to others and themselves be disarmed, they should be instititutionalized), im for linceses as long as they're not exorbitant, im for mandatory training, gun safety, conceal carry, self defense and gun knowledge classes, im for background checks. that all being said, I am under no illusion these would stop mass shootings. they're more for preventing negligent discharges and more common criminals. I am against gun laws that ban certain types of commonly used guns and punish law abiding gun owners rather than the perpetrators. notice how I listed proposals that don't harm law abiding gun owners? 2.8 million guns are used for self defense each year according to the CDC, far more than mass shootings each year. I think to stop these shootings, we would need a total shift in culture, mental health and society. Switzerland in proportion to population has a higher gun ownership rate yet no mass shootings. true they have stricter gun laws when compared to US (they're even bigoted about it since certain nationalities can't own guns in that country), but compared to the rest of Europe and even some US cities they're tame. owning guns is even compulsory I hear for most citizens. Mexico and Brazil have tight gun control laws, yet high gang and gun violence, yet few mass shootings especially of these type. Why? it'ss something about American society and capitalism. something to note is that these shootings were rare until the 90s, yet gun control with exceptions has been getting tighter each decade for the most part. you could even have a full auto weapon before Reagan signed a racist gun control law. something happened in the 90s that spun this out of control. if you want, I have theories and proposals on this issue.

That's how most people feel to be honest. The problem is people who have actual power but either refuse to take action or stonewall efforts for action (unsurprisingly both being Republican/Conservative parties). Their inaction, combined with inflammatory statements and lies about wanting to take action, is where the anger should rightfully be. Of course it's wrong to push the narrative of action of violence upon them, but it's not even remotely wrong to want to get them out of the picture in general for forcing the populous to suffer these tragedies. Obviously that means voting them out of office and getting people who do want action. This would have to either be a Democrat/3rd party or a Trump hating Republican... might as well vote in a unicorn for that last one.

Politicians have armed guards 24/7. But goddamn forbid school put an extra door to slow down a school shooter and that extra door might traumatize the kids by making the school look more like prisons. Are kids not worth extra security measures and implementing new procedures to keep the kids safe like not leaving a f-ing door open during a shooting?
I always say that, in the UK, guns aren't banned or outright illegal. They're just illegal to own without a licence. You have to go through some pretty, in my opinion, simple checks. You then have to buy them from a registered seller. The problem, in the US, is how easy firearms are to buy for literally anyone, legally bought or not.
Everyone is tired of the deaths.the fact that it's the same people who are preventing anything from changing because they like their profits more then strangers lives, makes it hard not to wish some karma on them.
Yeah, and the people capable of using logic in a time of emotional turmoil are tired of people like you blaming horrific acts on inanimate objects. Considering gun laws were even looser in the 60s, why were school shootings then nonexistent? Love when the government says that “video games make kids violent” and then proceed to have the US Army develop and release a first person shooter designed with the sole intent of getting people to enlist in the army
(America’s Army)
With the uvalde police response, maybe they should be recruiting kids who play those video games to replace officers who always feel their life is threatened around people who are unarmed...
If history tells us anything, it is that there was no violence before those nasty video games right?

@Jesse Polskin Where they been while the Middle East gets bombed to shit? Lol

Why do people think that Ted Cruse would have a problem with dead kids.

That's politics for you, and the Reds are the deluded kings of bullshit.
I used to think it was ridiculous, but now I think they definitely contribute. I think video games, entertainment, social media, etc. have evolved to a point where people are ok being alone.
Even Phil has had videos throttled or suppressed for less, just covering what other people said or did.

...That isn't the problem, though.

Some schools might need better security to monitor who's going in and out but we ALSO need more gun control.
neither was the problem, not the door nor the gun... the problem was the security, the school should have had more secuirty and mandatory bag checks.
there is already plenty of gun control, you literally can't account for scenario... no matter how hard you try, the gun control won't do anything. if someone is willing to commit a mass murder, let alone on fellow students or kids... they are too far gone, you do know a black market exists right? they could always get one off there, even if not, they might have a family member that passed all background checks and is completely responsible, hides the gun in a safe and everything and their kid watched him input the code once and stole it... like literally you can't account for every factor.
there is already in most states even republican ones, a type of background check (depending on the state it can take hours, days, weeks) you HAVE to have an id, and your gun gets registered so if you do something illegal they can track the gun that did it. thats literally all the gun control you need... the problem is no matter what you do, evil people will be evil.
So what happens when a fire starts and there is only one door for hundreds of kids to exit. That seems like a disaster just waiting to happen.

yet there are more gun owners than car owners, with cars killing more children than guns

"declining church attendance" lmao
As someone who doesn't really watch any of Ethan Klien's stuff, I can tell that he was not being serious. We all think and say really dumb things sometimes. But that is the internet for you to take things to try and go viral. Feel however you want but to me there are bigger things to worry about.
The problem is he waits until someone else calls him out to take it back. He was being serious. Ethan Klein has become even worse
this is one of the cases where someone says something that people that know you and your personality and would get that you are joking/would not judge you. But when you put it in the internet it can reach people that have 0 idea of who you are, is so easy for this things to happen
10/10. Wellsaid.
I do agree he probably doesnt want that to happen, but say if a conservative did this but trade in like an abortion clinic instead of the NRA i feel like thata will gardner a much much bigger outrage
While I agree I just can’t defend Ethan on this. If some conservative you tuber came out and said as a joke “let’s bomb planned parenthood” would Ethan be so understanding of the situation.
If they're offended by what Ethan said, they really don't want to hear what Australians have been posting.
It’s technically illegal in the United States at least with the way he said it initially, we can thank the Patriot Act for that.
Australians keep lying and saying since they banned guns they've had no mass shootings. Two lies - they didn't ban guns and they've had more mass shootings.
@@J-C.Denton You have to apply for a licence to own a firearm in Australia and Assault rifles are banned. While there has been shootings it's a drop in the bucket compared to the U.S.
@@hotaruFirefly2 'Assault Rifle' isn't a term that means anything. Australia does have strict regulation, but they still allow some Semi-Automatic rifles just like the USA, although with a 10round capacity limit. A Cat D license allows it. Yea but tbh most americans don't care about Australia.

It concerns me greatly when politicians site declining church attendance as the reason the world has problems when I left my church because of how toxic the culture was. I was angry and depresed and felt very little self worth until I realised it was the messages of the church that were doing that to me. I know I'm not alone as I've met many people and listed to podcasts who talk about the exact same effect. The right church with the right people can be great but unfortunately there are so many that create unrealistic ideologies, actively protect criminals and promote a lifestyle that is harmful to individuals.
Phil, please dont let not having your team stop you if you feel like making an episode. This was fantastic and really reminded me of the show before you had editors.
I really enjoyed when he directly thanked those in his staff by name.
Why don't these videos ever have the date they were posted listed on them? For a news channel, it's kind of frustrating to never be able to tell when this stuff was updated/ posted

Why? it'ss something about American society and capitalism. something to note is that these shootings were rare until the 90s, yet gun control with exceptions has been getting tighter each decade for the most part. you could even have a full auto weapon before Reagan signed a racist gun control law. something happened in the 90s that spun this out of control. if you want, I have theories and proposals on this issue.

people with guns should be blown up because other person with gun shot children... yeah i like where this country is going...

I am simply of the opinion that all our politicians and NRA spokespeople SHOULD FEEL EXACTLY AS SAFE as our Children do going to school.
I felt pretty safe going to school a few years ago. It’s still pretty rare to be a part of those events
I blame the shooter 🤷🏿♂️
i mean. i am simply of the opinion that they tend to hold rallies everytime there's a mass shooting and scream about how good guns are, while dead children lay before them. if something happened to them i wouldn't celebrate nor would I be upset. they got what they got, eventually a parent or someone who's crazy enough will kill a lot of NRA and politicians who support this nonsense, when that day comes ill simply continue as though their lives didn't matter just as the NRA continues as though those children's lives didn't matter either. Simple
When my kids didn’t feel safe going to school, I gave them words of encouragement.
If our politicians DONT feel as safe as our school children, we should give them WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT 🙂
Where can I see the removed episode? I was wondering where that episode went and never got to see it :(
Everyone is tired of the deaths.the fact that it's the same people who are preventing anything from changing because they like their profits more then strangers lives, makes it hard not to wish some karma on them.
Yeah, and the people capable of using logic in a time of emotional turmoil are tired of people like you blaming horrific acts on inanimate objects. Considering gun laws were even looser in the 60s, why were school shootings then nonexistent? People who have read the constitution, federalist papers, and have historical knowledge are uncomfortable with forfeiting our 2A rights.
