      Dude, Iron cobras are massively overlooked nowadays. I have a set of Pearl direct Demon Drives, and have had Trick Pro 1Vs and just got a set of IC 900 Power Glides and it's one of the best pedals I've ever used. They're unbelievably smooth, responsive and powerful. I've never felt more control with a pedal. Threw a Trick drive shaft on them, of course, lol.

      Yeah...I can't do it on an Iron Cobra. My foot is bigger than the foot board. I have to use swivel foot for double strokes on an Iron Cobra pedal

      @@heartbeatsdrumIron Cobra is a great pedal...except the footboard is too small for heel toe with a size 11 foot. They're fine for swivel foot though

    Great lesson!! Can you do a video on trigger settings, head tension etc. for heel toe? I get a lot of missfires and skipped hits. I have made every combination possible (retrig,threshold,mask time) and while a problem resolves, another arises. A great problem is the beater buzzing on a cranked head while a loose head doesn't have enough rebound. I use a triple mesh head with a ton of pillows against the head. How do people go live with this kind of setup, it seems very unreliable.

  • @andreivandrummer

    Hello friend. Have a quick question.
    This technique its easier on longboard pedals (Like Dyna-Sync) o I can do this with something like Yamaha Dfp9500d? Direct Drive is required for higher tempos too? So many questions... Sorry :(

    • @laurenfazenbaker9777
      @laurenfazenbaker9777 Před 10 měsíci

      You don't need direct drive pedals. However, Iron Cobras, though good pedals aren't good for heel-toe unless you have a really small foot. I can't heel toe my Iron Cobra pedals to save my life because my feet are bigger than the boards. I use swivel foot on Iron Cobras, and heel toe on my Axis long boards.
      Spring tension has a lot to do with it. 66Samus has a good heel toe tutorial that explains spring tension which may help answer your questions

  • @grrtt666
    @grrtt666 Před rokem +14

    Modern heel-toe is pure cheating based on rebound and triggers, second strike has only 1-2 inch amplitude. You showed old school heel-toe with powerful second strike. Respect! That technique work even without triggers.

    • @laurenfazenbaker9777
      @laurenfazenbaker9777 Před 10 měsíci +9

      Sorry to tell you...if you have to practice the technique to get the speed and consistency, it's not cheating. Rebound doesn't play as much role as you state, and any drummer with the skill will tell you that.
      Next you'll say playing with two pedals is cheating. Having drum heads on your bass drum is cheating.
      Stfu. People playing heel - toe are more concerned about spring tension than drum head rebound.
      What's your excuse for practice pads...that have no rebound? Oh...it must come from skill and practice.

    • @Carriesaglock
      @Carriesaglock Před 10 měsíci +8

      Is a double stroke roll with hands/sticks cheating? Cause this is literally the same thing just with your feet.

      Are you mentally ill?

    • @the_terrorizer
      @the_terrorizer Před 6 měsíci +1

      He literally says in the video that “double strokes are always softer and you need to practice to get them harder.”
      There is no cheating based on rebound or triggers. The bass drum CANNOT be played without REBOUND. That’s why there are SPRINGS. It’s impossible to do this without rebound.
      Triggers, sure. Maybe that can be considered cheating. But if you’re a master of the technique, you don’t need triggers. However, it makes everyone’s life easier, from mixers to masterers and everyone in between. Especially if you’re playing 280bpm and would like to sound clean. So honestly, who the fuck cares. Go back to drum school, learn how bass drum works on a basic level, before commenting some dumb shit again.

    • @roberthagmaier9603
      @roberthagmaier9603 Před 5 měsíci +2

      There's always one in the comment section.It's either triggers are cheating or Heel Toe is cheating like playing drums is some kind of contest.

  • @laurenfazenbaker9777

    You can't do heel toe on an Iron Cobra pedal unless you have a small foot. I wear a size 11....my foot is bigger than the foot board. Swivel foot is the only way to get consistent double strokes on an Iron Cobra pedal...unless you have a size 4 foot like this dude.

    • @the_terrorizer
      @the_terrorizer Před 6 měsíci +1

      I have an 11 and a half sized foot and learned heel toe on an Iron Cobra, but it’s definitely easier on my speedcobras.
      Keep practicing and you’ll get it.

      @@the_terrorizer I just use my Axis long boards. I try to avoid Iron Cobras . I can do swivel foot to compensate, but I am not going to put in the effort to practice heel toe on a too short footboard when I can just use my long board pedals where I can play heel toe comfortably and without having to think about it.
