    I started getting them as I got into my 30's. I'd say that on average, I tend to get 1-2 per year although I've noticed that there's two types of sty's. The first is the type that I usually get. They're small, tend to rest on the bottom eyelid and go away within a couple of days. Whilst they are irritating for a day or two, they go away on their own. I've even managed to get rid of one within a couple of hours by sitting in a hot bath and bathing the eye nonstop.
    The second type of sty is much bigger and rests within the top eyelid. I've only had this type once but they don't go away on their own. They need to be operated on. They'll cut the inside of the eyelid and remove it that way.

    When I was in my early 20's I would get styes on my right eye lids. My Ophthalmologist would give me a handout with instructions to do warm compresses. The weird thing is that the warm compresses made the styes larger and worse. I would need to get a cortisone injection in the stye to get rid of it. These were happening weekly. Finally I went to a dermatologist (against my Ophthalmologist's advice) and he gave me some oral medication that resolved the recurring issue.

    hello!
    I live in a dorm room, So I can't really make That rice in a sock compress, So I use Eye gazes soaked in boiling water.
    (they have to be changed every few minutes.)
    but I had developed a small pink stye underneath my bottom eye lashes, And the nurses said that a stye can't be treated without a hot compress.
    it doesn't hurt that much, I just have a very itchy eye from it.

      I got another Stye in my other eye.
      so the wellness staff here what's me to see an eye doctor to get some eye drops or the ointment because of how fast these are coming in/How quickly there popping up.
      they think I have an eye infection.
      but all this stress I put myself in from kitchen work doesn't help either.
      serving a campus full of students and teachers really screws the body up.

  • @rengel165
    @rengel165 Před 6 lety +7

    This is a good video for the compresses. However, I don't recommend patients' placing Tobradex drops on their finger and then touching the stye. This not only is ineffective, but it's difficult for the patient to know where to touch, given that the stye is usually inside the lid. I usually recommend Tobradex ointment (mainly for the dexamethasone) instead to reduce inflammation on the underside of the lid and improve comfort...it has longer contact time to do the job.
