A look at the offside rule in hockey. Including how the blue line comes into play, delayed offside calls, and intentional offside. For all Intro to Hockey videos, see here: • Hockey
All lines are part of the zone the puck is in. So if a player has skate contact with the neutral zone when the puck completely crosses the determining edge of the blue line the play is on side. I know this seems nitpicky but it really does matter. Nice videos, but there are a lot of small details that got missed that will cause some misunderstandings of rules and situations.
New to the sport. From a country where it is a non existent sport but I really enjoy watching sport so I was watching a Stanley cup match between the flames and the stars. Is there recommend content I watch to learn the sport so it makes more sense beyond get puk hit in net.
@@TheOnDeckCircle I'm not sure if my description was clear. Offense player enters the zone, then the puck clears the zone while offense player is still in the zone and the defense player brings the puck back in. Does the offense player has to clear the zone (delayed offside) before any one from offense can touch it?
@@georgelbenko No, if the defense decides to bring the puck back into their defense zone while the offense player is still in the zone it is not considered offside.
Great demonstration. Using this video with the kids.
Hey, did you know they made the offside lines 3 times as thick as they were before the 2005-06 season?

He literally said that in the video.
Thanks

I have a hockey playlist on my channel that explains the basics.
What about if the defender is bridging the puck in to his own zone while offensive players are still in there? It that an offside?
No, offside only happens if you're entering the zone you're trying to score in.
