    Probably a stupid question but do you have to put the card in while on the water for it to work correctly or can you put it in before you get to your fishing area.

      @SonarFishing  Před 7 měsíci +1

      You need the card to remain in the unit for it to work.

    Great video. I have the Navionics Hot Maps Platinum South. Can I take it out of my old Lowrance Elite HDI7 and put it in my new Lowrance Elite 9ti2?

    Great video there, and it part-answers what I need to know for updating my charts all the way from Panama to Australia, but there are a couple of things, regarding the update mechanism that I hope you might be able to help me with.
    I have an IPad installation, mainly as a backup for my Pacific crossing, and the risks of damaging a Navionics card don’t apply (I can just download a new copy if I have a problem), but the downside of an update failure, on a Navionics card is that it can be left corrupted and then you’ve lost all the maps on that card altogether (yes, replacements are possible - if you’re not in Panama)
    So how does the update mechanism work?
    Does the process interact with the chip and download, directly just the new chunks data - or does it download fee timely a new copy of Avery thing (to your pc or Mac) and copy that data across directly in one last step?
    How does this go if, say the internet or wifi drops out part way through (both common in marinas)
    What are the local free space requirements on the PC or Mac?
    Again, thanks for a great video - but I must be sure I am not risking the Pacific - Australia cards by a last minute attempt to update them.

    Just tried to upload new charts to card and could go know further that the page that says plug card into computer and page just stayed there very frustrating. Tried using 3 different SD cards for the microSD. I think my card or sad readers are bad.

    Do you review and study the maps on your desktop when updating, or otherwise, in order to predetermine what spots on a lake you want hit in the course of a day? Also, and a little off subject, what views do you utilize most on your bowmount unit?

    I have added 6 lakes to my Navionics card. How do I pull up a lake that I'm fishing or does it automatically do that?

  • @petsur

    So once I update my card at home, then load it onto my Raymarine Axiom, can I then just pull the card and return it home? My Navionics card is an SD but the Axiom takes microSD. I take it I’ll need a USB type adapter???

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  Před rokem

      All current navionics cards are micro SD cards in SD card adapters. The micro SD is in the back of the card. You must keep the card in your unit for it to work.

    It's so odd that on the chart viewer on their website shows lots of Sonar data for the lake closest to my house (it's 40 acres), but when I bought my card there was ZERO data for that lake. I reckon I have to go online, download the chart updater and update my card?

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  Před 4 lety

      Yes, if you bought the Navionics+ US and Canada, you will need to download SonarChart data. It’s pretty easy and doesnt cost anything extra.

    Anyone know why when I switch to my Navionics Chart it literally shows the crappiest like block looking lake, no contour lines, just a junk like 3 pixel 1980's atari looking chart...I bought a new fish finder, it came with a 1 year subscription, I updated it and I get the worst looking lake map ever. Not details or lines in the lake at all.

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  Před 3 lety

      The card that came with your unit likely needs to be registered online and you’ll need to download the maps for the areas you fish on Navionics.com. There are no pre-loaded charts on any units other than Garmin, who now owns Navionics. All the other units that come with Navionics, come with a card.
