The interview is about how he produces, Not making eye contact anyway, If I had someone sitting on an angle looking at me like that guy was at most of the vid I would have an anxiety attack and black out. xD
+xerix10 what is wrong in vandalism? seriously you dont need to do everything by yourself you know.As long as its made truly by you and it sounds top of the line. There is nothing wrong in using presets.
+KernosT he means that using mostly presets shouldnt be a popular song when other people invest more time in their own sounds and get a fraction of the popularity.
mauroghen gc 90% of the sounds that these people make also can be found in many preset packs. Just cos you make your own presets does not entitle you to have glory. Absolutely not.
I like his attention to detail and his understanding of what hes doing and why. It really makes such a difference in sound quality to appropriately place notes, instruments, and their levels according to sonic nature instead of just blending things that sound cool together.
It's a shame he isn't more enthusiastic about talking about his music. One of Australia's musical greats but it's like watching Daniel Johns in an interview.
I can no longer look at this man as just a normal musician. He knows his craft so well. These are engineers ffs! They need to be compared to the likes of Stevenson and Brunel. They are truly pushing things forward.
Hey at least I was able to hear Rob sing in the Immersion album thanks man your voice sounds really good especially in songs like Watercolour and Crush also Immunize and can't forget Encoder your voice in amazing in all of those songs.
I would love to have access to the project files for Pendulum's work... I'd be there for days just muting and soloing different tracks and listening to these tunes in a way I never have before
Oh totally, from a purely educational standpoint this was way more informative for someone who is just generally interested in production , and thanks man! (:
jokkearnt This interview was filmed in 2010 thats why its about pendulum and the reason why there is no mention of knife party is because knife party didn't exist in 2010, knife party were formed in 2011.
damn whoever's running this channel must be doing a lousy job if they didn't upload this until 2013. seems like a fairly simple thing to keep hidden away for so long
more questions regarding technicalities for how he went about making his synths for example, which should of been apart of the organic layering segment but thats just one suggestion the video seems more attuned for fans who don't produce which defeats the purpose of an "in the studio"
"It's not meant to be catchy, it's meant to sound like the fucking apocalypse"
I have no idea why but those words have stuck with me for years now
I don't listen to a huge amount of Savant (though I can appreciate his immense talent), the words themselves just mean a lot to me
what min he say that?
@@RomanUSB 8:30 :D
still does, honestly!
sonic recreation of the end of the world babyyyyyy
The producer, the expert, the master... rob fucking swire.
And Kevin Sawka the drums :3
3arcEddy Just such a powerful team of musicians in general~!
3arcEddy Dont u dare forget about Paul Kodish!!
3arcEddy What about Gareth McGrillen?
Dont forget avicci
"people say it's sound quiet catchy, it's not meant to be catchy, it's meant to sound like fucking apocalypse" XD
8:30 to skip to that quote
5:40 get yourself a girl who look at you the way this interviewer looks at Rob
I feel like everyone looks at rob like that
hes stoned as hell he'd be looking at a rock like that
One of the greatest producers ever.
"It's not meant to be catchy, it's meant to sound like the fucking apocalypse" I revisited this video just to hear him say that.
Savant ? Ye
Of Course
Me too
What time is it?
Mowogjones its spread out from 7:47 to 8:29 and forward
I would hate having an interviewer stare at the side of my head the whole time.
lol me too
and just saying, "yea......yea.....yea.....right, yea"
It's kinda rob's fault... I mean it kind of seems as if he refuses to have any kind of eye contact, so he just keeps looking forward :p
Seero Boarder That's probably because he has to look at the screen to do stuff.
The interview is about how he produces, Not making eye contact anyway,
If I had someone sitting on an angle looking at me like that guy was at most of the vid I would have an anxiety attack and black out. xD
Rob's voice, goodness, I can listen to this man speak for hours
Check out Knifecast
We REALLY need a 2015 in the studio with Rob. Come on Future! :)
yep
+dn a 2016*
2016 * :D
***** hahah
2017*
My childhood grew around his music. hes my music hero :^)
Same
He's very careful not to release to much sound out. He's not letting all the secrets out
No worries mate, Most Wanted’s on the case 😂
@@alexmcveigh5297 they all like that
how so? he litterally played every instrument solo
i wish i could chill with rob in a studio for a week and have him teach me as much as he could
u will come out gay brv lol
Me too broh.
Oh yeah. Also with deadmau5. They 2 are arguably the best engineers in electronic music even if you don't like to music they make.
liteoner noisia? I mean, what about noisia? They are like the best at sound design
noisia is a trio you spacka
coming from Martin Garrix's "vandalism presets" to Rob swire's "we setup our bass on a few different plugins"......pretty big jump
KernosT True, but they still deserve more. on some cases. sure. but I guess hard work should be rewarded a bit more :P
mauroghen gc I dont think there is anything called hardwork nowadays in this scene, just connections.
I like his attention to detail and his understanding of what hes doing and why. It really makes such a difference in sound quality to appropriately place notes, instruments, and their levels according to sonic nature instead of just blending things that sound cool together.
What a genius rob swire. One of the best producers of this era
Rob Swire..Legend.
I revisit this video whenever I need inspiration. Rob Swire is my hero!
Same
Half of his accent is Australian and the other half is British haha ;)
still sounds cute lel
Soo cute
All west Australians sound like that.
Australians are still British at heart.
avicooo
I just love how shy he is! So adorable
I love people like that ^_^
Rob is so cute😭🥺😍
"It's not meant to sound nice its supposed to sound like the fucking apocalypse." So great.
Rob really seems like one of the most technically minded musicians. His art, his music, is produced to such a high standard.
nope lol
This was filmed in June 2010
It's a shame he isn't more enthusiastic about talking about his music. One of Australia's musical greats but it's like watching Daniel Johns in an interview.
he's not meant to sound enthusiastic he's meant to sound like the fucking apocalypse
Haha, is he? I'd be happy if he just got excited about talking about his music. He needs to understand that he is the fucking man.
@@lukeallison88 he's just shy
Most producers are very shy and very socially awkward as there usually locked in the studio alone where they are comfortable
Australia represent. Went on to form Knife Party who are now just as huge world wide, with different sounds. Legend mate
I can no longer look at this man as just a normal musician. He knows his craft so well. These are engineers ffs! They need to be compared to the likes of Stevenson and Brunel. They are truly pushing things forward.
He seems like the chillest person in the world.
watch this with a laptop or a phone to witness an awkward silence at 5:30
Zevzz haha those guys must be unlucky
+Zevzz Watching it on the laptop, however having studio headphones plugged :D
***** You know what I meant! :D
l love rob swire
Meant to sound fucking apocalyptic but turns out it's catchy instead. Thanks Savant ;)
Love these. Thanks FutureMusic.
Pendulum are geniuses! all albums are masterpieces...
I love Rob Swire, he is an amazing singer and producer, he is my idol
I wish you guys would go in the studio with The Upbeats. I would love to see how they do things.
or Phace or Misanthrop - any of the producers that roll with Noisia would basically be awesome :D
How does one make growls with Sylenth? ONLY ROB SWIRE KNOWS!
Growls in Sylenth are actually pretty common.
Tutorial or it didn't happen. Does it invovle highpass on side A and a low pass on side B or something like that?
I'm thinking some high pass movement with resonance modulation and pitch enveloping... but I could be completely off track. Ha;lp!
sqyttles cutoff and LFO
TheOfficialSio ^^ This guy
Been listening to Pendulum for a long while now, first I've seen of the production side of things, good stuff.
Very good! I really like Knife Party and I think they have the best mix. I would like to know more about that. But this was helpful too :) Thanks!
just replying cause i can :P
How many subs did you have 7 years ago?😁
Wow just seen this guy on video for the first time.what a legend.some of my first favourite drum and bass
The song is Salt in the Wound from their immersion album
In the studio with Aiden Jude = 2 minute video
*aiden jude gives money to some producer* the end
He is fucking 12
Dan Corvo He is ghost produced
The leadlines of salt in wounds sounds like some sort of laser wars
Ikr
2:25 - his hand! rob must have a very angry cat or something.
+SoSick ba dum tss
+SoSick 😂 wow
Lmao
I think he actually owns a cat named Judas
Been waiting for this for a long time
These interviews are great. It's so reaffirming to see how the professionals do it before getting down to a track!
great! thanks!
Rob Swire is pretty much a genius when it comes to mastering.
Why does he say he uploads it to a mastering place then 12:21
fishybishbash they confused the mastering process with the mixing process. how cute!
Actually I'm pretty sure he focuses more on the mix
@@fishybishbash Mastered his last album on his own.
8:30 You're welcome
I play it while racing. Looove the song
Camera picked up the low frequencies perfectly!
Robs the kinda person to ask you to sign a petition
Authentic studio tan. Truest sign of a real deal producer!
I can't understand how he gets that sub bass sound so insanely huge and powerful. It's tight as hell too. what is he doing..
still come back to this every year at least once :) x
rob swire is god
I love this guy so much
Hey at least I was able to hear Rob sing in the Immersion album thanks man your voice sounds really good especially in songs like Watercolour and Crush also Immunize and can't forget Encoder your voice in amazing in all of those songs.
So glad I finally subscribed. Otherwise I would've missed a video by one of my idols.
I'd so buy that drum beat with just the bassline all on it's own.
Now I can do Pendulum by myself on my laptop, thanx for a video :D
I would love to have access to the project files for Pendulum's work... I'd be there for days just muting and soloing different tracks and listening to these tunes in a way I never have before
The man is a goddamned wizard.
Genius!!!
When he showed how he stacked sounds to make leads, you could definitely tell that it was the techniques he used for loads of pendulum's leads.
THANKYOU
thanks!
excited.
I love both
and yes ive listened to them, i have all 3 albums and had seen them twice on tour; once at Doncaster one in Machester
One of the best in the game!
thanks
OH MY GOD THIS IS GONNA BE AMAZING
Oh totally, from a purely educational standpoint this was way more informative for someone who is just generally interested in production , and thanks man! (:
Rob 💖💖💖
5:26 the drums of the new Pendulum Album WOW!!!!!
Lol no
sounds like Salt In The Wounds tbh
Pendulum is/was a landmark in electronic music
I like Rob, he's a crazy knowledgable producer
Been expecting this... For a long time...
Happy birthday!
I'm glad they reunited and are touring again in 2023.
I am waiting for the day, when Liam Howlett sits in front of the camera and showing how he makes his music...then I can die.
We all are…. But I’m not holding my breath
This is more talking from Rob Swire in an interview than I'm used to.
"its not meant to be catchy, its meant to sound like the fucking apocalypse"
Oh this is good. Now saying this in 2021 nice music Rob.
Damn right...

Dude can i say...included into beign a awesome producer. You have a FANTASTIC vocal voice!! (talk from your projects with Joel) :)
"yea....yea...........yea"
Hell Yeah !
it was the most time efficient way of getting info
some better questions could have been asked i think
Such as?
Nitic Music like , what brv
more questions regarding technicalities for how he went about making his synths for example, which should of been apart of the organic layering segment but thats just one suggestion
the video seems more attuned for fans who don't produce which defeats the purpose of an "in the studio"
ProductionBandit yeah the only questions he had was "So you do that here?"
More like this one please.
That interviewer has no idea about production what so ever.... hahahahahahaha
Pendulum?
Yessssssssssssss
"peri playing some 80s loop" *cough* encoder *cough*
He sings in Pendulum, great band. He even sings in Deadmau5's songs, real MVP. I love him.
''It's not meant to sound nice, It's suppose to sound like the fucking apocalypse''
I love you Rob.
Happy New Year:D
