Hey Luvvvs,
Welcome back to another weekly vlog! In today's video I am bringing y'all along with me to my very ever first clinical (super exciting), as well as how I cope with failing an exam. This semester has been pretty challenging, but we will get through it!

I've been a nurse for 27 years and some days, you will question why you chose this career. But in your nursing journey you will come to love some of your patients and that simple 'thank you nurse' will make you feel so good.Just know that you will not remember everything but before you do anything always, always double check. Don't ever assume. I wish you all the best in your nursing career and hope to see RN behind your name😊
thanks
Aww thank you for this!
I'm about to graduate from an accelerated MSN program, and the thing that has brought me the most success is rewriting notes and talking the material through with classmates until we feel good about it. Whenever you're answering NCLEX-style questions, always go with your gut! Do not go back and change answers. For questions about prioritizing care just think about it as if you can only enter the patient's room once, what would be the one thing you do? YOU CAN DO THIS! I failed my first med-Surg exam, and I will be graduating with a 3.9 this coming December. It's overwhelming but manageable. No one will ask about your grades after you have that RN after your name!!
thanks for that !
I'm a nursing student in ghana and Your videos inspire me a lot😍
You got this boo
Hopefully 😇
I love how you read your devotional and make your bed in the AM. I’m getting better at making my bed every morning 🫢 & reading my devotionals.
I just finished my first semester and understand what you are going through. Fundamental was a struggle for me but I made it through. Amen! My School is doing ATI and that exam was hard. But you can make it through! I am about to start level 2 next week.
I’m currently in semester 1 and you’re making me excited and anxious all at once. I hope you pass your exams girl! You motivating a lot of new students like me to keep pushing thru ❤️
You may think that you don't like Med-Surg now but that may change. Never say never. Don't give up !!! You will have days that exhaust you and bring you to tears. Other days will be so satisfying. Nursing is a calling ,not a career. I am a retired nurse. I loved it. Fyi you have no idea how much more you will learn after school. Your school will give you a good idea what is coming but some of it is not how it is done in all the hospitals. Your enthusiasm and that smile will help you. Good Luck and Do Not Give Up!!!!!!!!!
I don’t think i can ever pass my Nclex’s exams 💔💔😔😔😔❤️🩹❤️🩹
People keep talking about Cynthia all over CZcams, she must be a very awesome help
@Yes you're correct but remember heaven helps those who help themselves, try studying if you can't study then get yourself a good help
I studied for months and couldn't pass, i guess passing is a blessing.
Everyone has there own way,Cynthia worked for me and studying didn't.
@ Correct, everyone has a different fate
wow Mikayla, you are such a beautiful soul. I have come across your channel a few times and always enjoy, but this time I am here to stay and am about to subscribe. So good to know that you are a Pk, well I suppose, since your dad preached. I am here to watch your journey and to become apart of the community you have built. Thank you for your transparency. I am taking pharm right now and can resonate with your feelings and praying I pull through well for the third exam. Okay I am about to binge watch your videos lol
Yes I’m taking the newgen NCLEX and it’s so much to relearn. Our exams are 50 questions and we have one every week. The semester coming up we have one every week for 14 weeks 😢😢😢 but ima pass though 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Awww your mama is just so precious 😂
I pray that during this season you continue to allow God to be with you , and guide you through it all
Sisssss. First & foremost , I’m loving the growth in your editing. Okay! Now back to the video 💕
Yassss the editing is most definitely changing and giving what it’s supposed to give
I completely understand about studying hard and not doing good on the exams. Please do a video on your new study techniques.
Nice vlog! Finishing my last week of an accelerated BSN program. This has been a struggle but I made it! You can rock it too!
Sis ! I was a nursing assistant for about 2-3 years off and on. It helps with knowing how to handle patients of all types! But let me tell yooouu!!! Those wounds baby! They give a really sour smell so brace yourself; also keep in mind they are human just like us and need help. So when you see them, try your best not to say “eww” or “it stinks” 🥺it’s hurtful. I know it may seem obviously but I’ve heard all types of mean things from peers and nurses thankfully I am becoming a LPN so I can help be that change I wish others would be. Hopefully you can too 🫶🏾♥️
Hey from a new grad to a new student don’t worry about the first exam it’s always ruff because you’re being introduced to a while new testing style. Find little mnemonics that help you remember key pieces of information. Don’t get discouraged. Nursing school is literally a roller coaster. Utilize your resources. YOU GOT THIS❤️
Don’t stress hun God has gotten you too far for you to feel like this isn’t for you or any of that, I hope you passed your HESI exam & my prayers go out to you because you expire me so much… keep doing what you’re doing I hope to be in your shoes soon🙏🏾💕💕
You got this!! You WILL be a living testimony!!!
Stay encouraged! Girl, it will be some very challenging days, but your passion for it is what keeps your head in the game. I just graduated from my BSN program in April and I started in the ICU in June, so I feel you on how hard it could be to bounce back. You got this tho!
Thank you so much I need that encouragement! & congratssss I love to see it!!
You got it sis! Keep moving forward, & remember that the race isn’t given to the swift of strong! As always I enjoyed your video❤️
Girl you gotta try some Brooks or some sketchers. Those are good. I’ve worn them for long hours and I plan to use them for my clinicals this upcoming summer. You can ask your PCP for ideas for other good ones too. So excited for you!
Yes ma’am!!! I see that prince shirt!❤️ I love him so much, but I wanna say keep doing these videos please. They help me through my day and to just understand that God has you no matter what. Also because of you I changed my my study habits and they have really helped me so THANK YOU!!!💋💋🤍
girl trust me those clinical days can really throw everything off!!! I'm doing xray school. This medical stuff is no joke!!!
Strong faith Strong finish your got this my love 🙌🏾❤️
I just noticed you posted, I been so busy with Nursing school I see why it’s good to have time management skills now. But Heyy girl!!💞
I know your parents must be proud of you , because shoot I'm proud of you . Im taking my prerequisites to go to nursing and man you been my role model
Thank you so much!!
I want to say you are really a great motivator in so many ways, and I love watching your videos.
So please keep posting..❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Because im praying that I start my journey as a Nursing student, very soon.
that two answer choice thing is so frustrating! I always end up doing it but imma keep doing these practice questions too 🥲
All smiles and looking gorgeous at 5:45 am. I definitely am not smiling till 7am.😂
I’m currently a third semester BSN student and your videos are so amazing and it makes me hope that when I have to take the classes and clinicals that you have taken that I will have good experiences
You need to get some hokas! They are a little pricey and the sole looks a bit chunky but I swear they are so worth it, my feet have NEVER hurt even after 10 hour clinical days, & they have a specific shoe for nursing school that is all white and liquid resistant :)
I’ve always opt for student nurse, both genders. Students need the experience to become professionals. I thought I would say during my first child birth, but surprisingly I wanted students to learn. I also hoped the doctors / senior nurses would take caution being that students were shadowing .
I love these videos!! Im applying to nursing school in February and this is so inspiring
Keep going! Yes hunny clinicals will wear you allllll the way out.
I’m a soon to be nursing student..I love your videos Mikala 🥰🥰🥰
I always enjoy your videos, you got this, keep pushing and moving forward, God is with you!
This was a really good vlog I’ve had thoughts of nursing and ur an inspiration for sure if I do take that road
Love the editing for sure
Hey!! I’m a soon to be nursing student. I love your videos and your soo inspiring. You got this love 💕💕 also, how many hours do your typically study in a day?
You both got this
Congratulations Rhea🎉🥳 you got this 🤗💐
Get you some Hokas! Best shoes
The hairstyle you had at the beginning of the video is my go to for clinicals too 😭
HOKAS! I made the mistake of going the cheaper route for shoes back when I did clinicals, BIGGEST mistake ever. Your feet will literally thank you for choosing good shoes.
You got this!!
the way some of these tests are written its like learning another way of thinking...which is stressful if you haven't even seen that style of test before. idk why they do that on a TEST. petty for no reason lol
Heyy Mikala, keep praying and pushing forward 🙏 we gone make it🙏... what's the name of the devotional book you was reading in this vlog?
Thank you for giving us an idea of what it’s like during clinical. I love the laptop stand. What brand is it?
invest in some QC shoes , a lot of people in the dental field recommend them
Even through the struggles you will always come out on top. Building your stuff to be better and stronger trust the process. Love your motivation through it all 🤍🩺
❤🙌you're such an inspiration Mik
If it’s in your heart to do nursing then you will be a Successful RN! keep going and don’t stop it. Do positive self talk everyday say “ I shall be a RN” and so on have a relationship with God! Talk to him everyday. He loves hearing from you 😊🙏.
I’m in an accelerated program and it’s rough !
Sorry I’m commenting like your video is live 😂
I have never seen anyone put water in the package for the oatmeal lol
Beautiful family !!!
girl, 1st clinical is the worst but good luck this term
I'm from Brazil. I'm in love with channel❤
When you starting your first clinical..what specific materials would u recommend?
Wait!!! did you just parallel park while holding a camera in your hand? What?? You did that!!
Can you link your glasses?
what app were you using to write your notes on your iPad?
Good video
Was it the wording of the questions? Did you second guess your answers? It will be ok.
I swear understanding what the question's asking and learning to trust yourself and not second guess is half the battle!
Clinicals you’re basically a tech. Bathing and feeding. Can’t really do any hands on nursing things.
hey I would like to know the name of the ipad used at 3:04
Can we get more videos please
You should get some new balance. Love your videos.
What do you use and edit?
how do you have Time to go to nursing school, study, edit videos for CZcams and still have a boyfriend??? like please tell us how do you make the time???
Please where do you lived
Are you in an accelerated program?
What semester are you in now ?😊
👩🏾⚕️🩺
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Wear hoka shoes I am a CNA and my feet never hurt
Your nursing videos inspired me so much. I want to do the nursing program. I got a stethoscope 🩺 for a gift last year and I'm like, ' I have to put this to use lol" I really want to do nursing but I know a lot of ppl say, nursing school is hard.
When is your graduation date?
What year do you graduate!
It’s crazy how they don’t let some students on the Covid floor just 1 hour to see what it could be like when they start working. They sure will float a nurse to Covid floor from a non Covid floor. Nobody safe if they floating nurses. At my hospital we had non Covid pt on a non Covid floor come back with Covid 😒. I know you happy you don’t have to deal with it.
It probably has more to do with the school- I'm sure the hospital would love to have anyone they could on that covid floor. The school prob doesn't want to risk a covid breakout among the nursing students since they really don't have the time to have a bunch of students out sick.
your moms so cute lol
🤣😂what the heck yall just starting the program and dont even got a license yet and they already trying to kill yall in the covid unit . I would’ve declined , if you want me there then pay me mhm.😒😒😒
