I have a 2013 Cruze and I absolutely love this car, I bought it used with 30 thousand miles on it and it now has 84 thousand miles. No major problems that I had to pay for cause it was still under warranty. The only thing I have done to it was replace the water separating valve “ I think that’s what it’s called “ and I changed the brake pads and have regular maintenance done every 3000 miles. I would recommend this car anytime!

This is surprising... I bought my 2011 Chevy Cruze 2LT with RS package brand new in 2011 right after they came on the market here in the US.....I have 88,000 miles on it now and have had none of the problems you described in this video. Even after hitting a deer with it and doing over $10,000 worth of damage (which has been repaired) it still runs and drives like a top. Love this car.

So if I'm understanding you correctly, you've owned this vehicle for 10K miles and had to replace the water pump, transmission, spark plugs/ignition coils, brakes and tires? That's a lot for 10K miles, regardless of the vehicle.

That's a lot of work done to a car with about 10,000 miles. I bought and still have my 2017 VW Jetta new and so far have put about 15,000 miles on it and, knock on wood, have not had any issues at all.

+J Dorner 191,000 miles on my 13 year old Prius and I haven't had to replace anything but tires when they wore out. Even the belt driving the water pump is original. Why anyone would buy Chevy I have no idea. Ford maybe but nothing from GMC or FCA for that matter.

I bought a 2014 Chevy Cruze 3 weeks ago. I got it used with over 41,000 miles on it. I'm hoping on some good luck with my car. It's quiet, has plenty of power and handles quite well. My car is still under warranty and it's been running as I had expected it to. It's a much better vehicle than the 2000 Chevy S10 that I had been driving for the last two years. I think in a few years I might trade this one in for a newer model. I think the one regret I might have with my purchase is the color. Basic black looks nice on a Chevy Cruze, but I kinda wondered if I might have enjoyed having a different colored car like a dark red, blue or even dark green. Aside from that, I have no issues with my car and I hope it serves me well in the future.

If you got a 2014 you should be a lot better off than me. You will still have the water pump issue eventually, but GM warrantied the part to like 150k miles and a few years extra. Check mychevrolet.com for all your special coverage warranties.

I think the 2014 and newer ones are a little more reliable in my opinion. I give it a 7.5/10

I have a 2012 chevy cruze 1.8 it just hit 67000 miles and has had absolutely no problems..Its an automatic and I recently got a trans fluid change at 66000 miles and its smooth as butter. I originally got the 1.8 over any of the turbo models because a friend of mine who's a mechanic told me that the turbo models were prone to some problems, and there's little to no difference in the 1.4 vs 1.8 performance wise. I got a buddy who has 250000 miles on his 2012 and has had no major problems along the way. The handling is so smooth and it's a pleasure to just CRUZE around in lol.

Well, I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze 2LT turbo. I've owned from day one and today I have over 300,000 miles. Did it have problems... Yes! Changed water pump twice, valve cover twice and intake manifold once. Replaced transmission lines once. Nothing else has been done other than those problems. I guess I got lucky.... Great car for highway driving. This car is not good for stop and go city driving.

It’s interesting watching this video. I had leased my cruse since new in 2014 and had it until May of 2016 with about 43,000 miles. It was a very quiet and comfortable car that great for me in high school and driving to and driving 70 miles round trip to Chicago a lot but got rid of it because it was giving me so many problems. I had AC issues starting at 10K, the ignition coil go on me in downtown Chicago around 20K, and around 40K oil was leaking from the manifold and it was also misfiring badly too(I forget what that issue was) but my final straw was just how hesitant the transmission was under moderate acceleration, and at other times it just was very messed up and clunky when it did shift, it felt like it was about to fail at 40K miles. It was a decent feeling car though, so much better than what it replaced but I couldn’t stand the transmission anymore.

The Cruze and Sonic 1.4 are JUNK. I bought a 2013 Sonic 1.4T from my sister. It had 51,000 miles on it. First of all, you should know that these cars have Dexcool coolant in them. Most mechanics call it DEXKILL or DEATHCOOL or something similar. It is designed to destroy engines. It starts out as a liquid, and solidifies inside the engine, plugging up all the coolant passages. The first thing I did was to completely flush the DEXKILL out of it. It took a week and about 20 gallons of distilled water, but I finally got it out. It is impossible to drain the block on these engines, there is no drain plug. I put Prestone OAT coolant in it, which is great stuff for newer cars. Shortly thereafter the water outlet assembly started leaking. I replaced that. Then the water pump failed. I replaced that. I did not take it to the dealer because they would not fix it since it no longer had DEXKILL in it, and I didn't want a dealer working on my car anyway. Then the thermostat failed. Replaced that. Then the evap canister purge valve failed. Replaced that. Then the upper PCV valve failed. That required replacing the entire valve cover. Then the PCV check valve failed. That required replacing the entire PLASTIC intake manifold. I also replaced the lower PCV valve at the turbo inlet, because it was all caked up with carbon. That is a design flaw. In fact, everything above is a design flaw. Then I noticed that the oil line to the turbo had a slight leak. I replaced that with an updated part that has 2 O-rings instead of 1. Another design flaw. Then the last thing. The engine started making a loud squealing sound. I traced that to the serpentine belt tensioner pulley. No bearing, just a bushing. I replaced that. I have almost $1200 in parts alone in this engine between 51,000 and 72,000 miles. And it doesn't end there. Since all of these problems were caused by design defects, they will happen again probably by 125,000-140,000 miles. The turbo may fail by that time as well, and it costs $800. This has got to be the worst engine GM has ever made, and they have made some real junk lately.
So far I have not had any transmission problems, but it will likely happen. I have changed the transmission fluid 3 times in 22,000 miles. It goes in almost clear red, and comes out black. That's right, BLACK. I have never seen BLACK transmission fluid before, This transmission has no filter, at least not one you can get to without completely disassembling it.
My other car is a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. I got it with 47,000 miles on it, it now has 288,000 miles, runs like new, the only repairs it has ever needed were a new alternator, and the vacuum controlled vent actuator unit rebuilt. The alternator was a 10 minute job, the vent actuator was a little more involved, but I did it myself using CZcams how too videos. Yes, the Sonic gets better mileage, but $1200 in parts in 22,000 miles? The Mercury is actually cheaper to operate. I'm done with GM.

I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze LT RS. I bought it back in March of 2017 and so far I've had it for nine months. I absolutely love it and I would never give it up for any other car. It is fully loaded with the sun roof, fog lights, My Link entertainment system and a nine speaker Pioneer sound system with subs that are hidden and take up zero space. The Cruze has excellent gas mileage and I commute daily between work and school. I fill up the car usually twice a month and I get around 360 - 380 miles per tank. When I bought it, the Cruze had only 21,000 miles on it. Currently it has 31420 miles on it so I've added a lot sense then. The Cruze is perfect as it is fancy, at least to me, efficient, and stylish. Most important, it is roomy and I have no problem taking my family in it on hours long car rides. It is the perfect car - zero complaints. It is dark red btw

I have a 2011 1.8L Manual Cruze and it's at about 35k miles (i know i got it very low milage) it was actually in an accident, so it was cheap and i got the body repaired as well. I think the manual transmission avoided a lot of the issues yours had.
Only thing i've had to get repaired on it so far is the thermostat which was causing the fan to run at max speed all the time.
Other than that, the only thing i dislike about it is the ABS check, it's really loud and concerning sometimes.

Transmission, I have the same issue, there was no recall, but it only shows up in cold weather.
The brakes? I changed mine at 65k miles, and they were so easy to replace them!
    I don't know what you're saying!
Also, there's nothing difficult about removing the coil pack. I don't know HOW you could possibly damage it??? O.o
I barely know anything about cars, but it's so easy to replace the plugs.
Btw, the plugs aren't bad. They're good. Just gapped incorrectly. Regapping costs about 15 minutes of your time, and it runs good again!
I had no real issues with my 2011 cruze Eco, other than the heater core leaking coolant fluid (rubber thingy), and the AC works like crap, and the radio can't handle FF or REW large size MP3s very well...

My first Cruze was a hand-me down and had 110k miles and was a POS. I fixed it and got it to where I had a positive ownership experience, PCV valve, Coil Pack, Spark Plugs... I have a 2010 GM Korea built Chevrolet Cruze 1.8 LT with 140.000 km on it. The only "problems " I have had with it the past seven years are with the speakers in the doors. I had to replace two of them. Other than that it has been a really solid car. Only regular maintenace, no surprises. Unfortunately GM left Europe so no new Chevrolet for me. I would definitely recommend a first generation Cruze.

I have the 2014 Chevy Cruze RS with the turbo charge. IT IS THE BIGGEST PIECE OF JUNK THERE IS!! I’ve had so many problems with mine I literally had to put in the shop the second week I had it! I could literally go on forever with all the problems I’ve had with it. Keep in mind I’ve only had this car a year in March of 2019. Now it’s currently in the shop again. Because it blowed all the oil out the motor!! That’s right it literally blew out a crank seal and all the oil out the motor! Unless your rich or just got very deep pockets I wouldn’t recommend getting this car! It’s literally just been a money pit and all I need is for this piece of junk to last me until I graduate college but I doubt it lasts that long!

I purchased a used 2011 Chevy Cruze LT in 2018 and it was fine at first. The dealer said it was a 10 point inspection did, etc. It drove very well. Shortly after it pops up ac off due to high engine temperature and engine idle. They said it was there thermostat, thermal housing, hoses, got all of those replaced. It was smoking and coolant leaking. Got that fixed or so I thought and drove off from the mechanics shop yesterday, 8 minutes into the drive, yep you guessed it...this pops up ac off due to high engine temperature. I was 9.3 miles from home,it was 90 degrees, so I had it towed. Now to figure this out. Any help???
