  • 1.9 ALH TDI Diesel GTB1756VK turbo kit install on a MK4 Volkswagen golf.
    This kit is good for 220 to 450whp depending on which turbo you use. And of course, pairing the turbo with the right injectors.

    Unusual to see in states to use darkside but nothing better to buy from one of the best diesel tuners in Europe. They sell everything you'll need to turn you TDI to a rocket and with some help with injectors and as well as 11mm element on the mechanical pump you'll be driving it all smiles all day long.
    Nice build

      Welcome to the channel! That’s the plan! We already have the tuner lined up. The stock turbo was on its last leg so it needed a new turbo sooner than later. Rather than paying for a re tune for the turbo, and then having to pay for another when the injectors come in, we just modified the stage 1 Malone for free to make the car drivable for now. It really isn’t that bad other than time to spool. Feels about the same power as the stock turbo which is to be expected with stock injectors

    • @diogo1966
      @diogo1966 Před rokem

      @@GasHouseGarage spool will not be the same. 17vk is a larger turbo. On the other hand I will have much more rpm to play with on higher rpm. Stock turbo dies really soon. The new turbo holds boost for much later

      For sure! With some injectors, the right turbo, a decent clutch, and a proper tune, the 90hp VE engines should be able to handle a good amount amount of power. The key is to keep the power from hitting too early in the RPM range on these engines, or else it will bend the rods. You can make the power come in earlier, but you’ll need PD150 rods

      @@gzimreci3864 it really depends on what you’re looking to spend. A VNT17/VNT15 is a direct replacement and a much cheaper option. VNT17 comes from the PD150 engine. A GTB1756VK will also fit but you’ll need to order one for you engine code and have a new down pipe fitted. A GTB1756vk comes from the 2.7 v6 TDI

      You’ll want to look for gt1749vb. That is the PD150 turbo. Should bolt right up to the 90hp TDI engine.

    with over 300k my mk4 tdi turbo is also going out... i put a new head on the engine before 300k but do I need to rebuild my bottom end before going for my turbo upgrade?

    • @GasHouseGarage
      @GasHouseGarage  Před rokem +1

      The turbo won’t add any more power until you run bigger injectors for fuel. So in this case fuel maxes out before air. If you get a proper tune the bottom end should be good to somewhere in the 300whp range. They key is tuning the power to come in later so it doesn’t bend rods. You also have to decide if the engine is healthy enough for these modifications. Hope this helps!

      @@GasHouseGarage Awesome thank for the reply. Yes I have already refreshed my injectors and installed larger nozzles as well as taken the injection pump to the 11mm from an automatic. I have a nice stg 1.5 tune from Malone tuning as well. Im watching your build with keen interest, thanks again!
