that moment when Suzu has her epiphany, when the young woman finally understand why her mother waded into that river, when she sees that all the anger and resentment her younger self felt towards her mother was misplaced, very special.
i was the same way kinda only my mother was a dirt bag i wanted to kill her but now im ok with her being here and there in my life time i was angry and in pain at the same time but if it wasn't for the moment'z of pain fear and sorrow id be a different person were all here why make it painful to sing for a bit? love and hate are due to the amount'z given to each other'z pain and joy'z given by the shadow'z of our past'z

I only watched in jp and listen to the jp album, but I did give the eng one a listen and they did such a perfect job picking her as Suzu/Belle. I love when people that sound like the original actors/singers get picked.

I think the beauty of this movie is that there aren’t cultural barriers that hinder the translation.
It's rare for Dub to be as good or better, but it can happen. Maybe its the $$$ tho. I never really thought about it that way until - right now.
One thing I love about this scene is that even though she was unveiled. People still support her and sang in unity with her and the part where the whales come out of the Sea of lights and carry Suzu/Belle. Billiant idea. This movie is a master piece. 5 stars.

The insane thing to me is that this is the English VA/singer’s debut performance and she absolutely killed it. For her first major work it’s an incredible first step for her career.
In Asia freckles are considered ugly so showing her true face like this is even more courageous
What made this scene very powerful is Suzu finally understanding why her mother risk her own life to save a child she doesn't know
And she is doing the same thing by sacrificing her persona and risking her reputation to reach out to a child
And it is even more beautiful how the citizens of U are understanding her pain

I don't know what this is but it was unexpectedly moving.
But I of myself can attest to this: Maintaining a strong and steady singing tone while simultaneously racked with emotion is one of the most difficult things a human can perform.
I would highly recommend watching the movie. its called BELLE and its a absolute masterpiece. Whats shown in the vid is essentially a virtual world called U that became really popular (over 5 billion users). Without spoiling anything this is a penultimate part in the movie where she has to find someone and uses her voice to reach out.

I love this song and this scene so much- from the way Suzu gathers her courage to face her own fear to help two children she barely knows. To her realizing that this is why her mother did it. To all the people coming together to sing with her to show support. To Suzu then having both a moment of forgiveness to herself and her mother- and waving into the river of her own. (The two lines in the sky, the wavy one and the red line signify the river her mother died in.) Finally moving to the stage of "acceptance" with her grief.
It is all just. So beautiful, as she said.

I agree with you this is the first anime or animated movie that has made me cry since the early 90s when I watched wrath of the ninjas as a kid because that end when everyone is giving their so they can stop the demons always makes me cry and this is the first time I've cried since then this song is so beautiful feels like it touches you right in the heart
God this song.😢 They really infused unbelievable emotions into it, making it so much more and just ‘real’ in a way not many can.

I watched about 2.5 minutes, maybe 3, of this video and immediately paused it to go watch this absolute MASTERPIECE! if you're reading this to see if its worth a watch? 200% IT IS! The soundtrack is absolutely breathtaking (as observed here) and the story gives off a very heavy classic 'Beauty and the Beast' vibe
I've seen this before, and even just watching this clip out of context has me a sobbing mess. I see other people hit the same way even if they don't know why, and I think that just tells how masterful the moment is. Here, Suzu has been stripped of her beautiful visage, and forced out into the open naked and exposed to millions and millions of people who all believed in the facade that gave an otherwise shy girl her courage, but in that moment, she is not overcome with grief in losing her place online, or with shame having her true self exposed... The only thing she cares about in that moment are the two boys she lost, and she desperately wants to help. The one who doesn't trust her no matter how hard she tries, so she uses this moment of absolute vulnerability to sing her true feelings to him in and attempt to reach his heart. There is no more raw or pure a moment for her, and even those who jeered at her before cannot help be be swept up in the power of her emotions for the beast and the liberation of finally understanding her mother. She is literally singing her heart out, and it doesn't matter who you are or where you come in, you feel it instinctually. That goes beyond movie magic, because the feelings are so very real. And the way its punctuated by her heart shining so brilliantly with hope it causes her Belle persona to re-emerge and explode with vibrant color just hits you.
Few things have ever come close.
This movie made me feel a way I had never felt before. It made me cry and smile so much, every song sent chills down my spine, every moment was beautiful and moving, a work of love and art. Every time I watch it, it feels like I'm watching it for the first time again. This movie was a once in a lifetime experience and I wish more people saw it.

I genuinely have no clue wtf i just watched. This is absolutely wild with no context
massive virtual world of over 5 billion users (can be compared to the "Oasis" from 'Ready Player One' but instead of games, its social media). girl was an idol (her "persona" was the girl in the red dress) and for reasons i will leave out due to spoilers, threw away her persona and showed what she really looked like.
It’s called Belle, and you should absolutely watch it. The context gives this scene so much weight and catharsis.
You know this is a masterpiece when a scene can bring you to tears. Now I want to watch this movie.

finally watched the movie because of this video. it had me bawling my eyes out from how amazing it is... both the japanese and english version are STUNNING and anyone who hasn't seen it, i HIGHLY recommend it. it is absolutely worth the watch and not what you'd expect when you watch the trailer. just a beautiful movie
When I got this film, I was expecting some scifi action and instead got a beautiful parable about life.
Treasure it and the sheer accidental misunderstanding that had me buy it.
People never gives dubs any credit. English dubs are really great! Alot better than the Japanese dubs
I haven't seen Belle since I watched it in Theaters. I instantly started crying lol. This movie is so emotionally well done.

Yup this is what I want in VAing. The most annoying thing is when VAs want to put their own "spin" into the singing style and it's completely different. Like the hubris of believing that playing the part of "themselves" is more important than the "acting" part of VAing. English VA for Suzu outdid herself honestly. Amazing job well done. Only a few of the side characters (like young Suzu) were low qual but tolerable.

Wow, that was beautiful
I watched a few seconds of this, felt chills that made the hair on my arms stand on end, immediately looked up the movie to watch it.
It took me the whole movie to realize this was probably a little inspired by the Beauty and the Beast, all in all though it was pretty good.
There were a lot of uncomfortable still frame moments though.
Everyone talking about the grand emotions this made them feel is just more proof that music is magic and can cross any barrier; language, fear, hate etc.

I was like "oh, a girl is singing. this is nice. Oh, her Mom died? wait...why is there an orb in her chest? is her heart coming out?? wtf? oh everyone has one. Oh, is this girl her rival? why's everyone so surprised she wants this girl to sing? WTF WHY IS SHE SINGING ON A WHALE-"
