Austin, one of the most unlikely places anywhere for that kind of growth. Used to be just a podunk country music town, not that long ago.

Yeah it was considered a lazy, laid-back, hippy college town not too long ago (pre year 2000). The main inspiration for indie filmmaker, Richard Linklater, to create the movie Slacker.

Ngl I really wish San Antonio would build more buildings like this. Even a few. I do like the newer glass towers but they’re all stout. I think we will always be decades behind other Texas cities even though our Metro is projected to reach 4 to 5 million before 2050

That thing is going to be an oven in the summer when it hits 106

I hope Texas stays the same even with its growth. 😢

Since Austin has become so liberal and controlled by progressive democrats I hope the open drug use and homeless people common to liberal cities does not happen that destroys the quality of life for the middle class as more and more Austin comes up with one after another charity or nonprofit contracts to 'help' all the ultimately horrible social problems they create.

    I miss the old Austin!
I miss the music scene it was destroyed by liberals who are not from Texas

Most people who move to Austin are from Texas just fyi. Not all Texans think alike

A luxury high rise with apartments AND shops? A truly groundbreaking concept your “capitalizing” on… I thought you were going to say something totally unnecessary like affordable housing for struggling citizens

Right affordable housing and a more economical design that can store energy with a green rooftop. Glad they went the sensible way and put up a generic tall building
