- 18 फ़रवरी 1946 को मुंबई में हजारों नौसैनिकों ने ब्रिटिश सरकार के ख़िलाफ़ बगावत कर दी. शायद इस विद्रोह की वजह से अंग्रेज़ों ने समय से पहले भारत को आजाद कराने का फैसला किया. नौसैनिक विद्रोह की 75वीं वर्षगांठ पर रेहान फ़ज़ल याद कर रहे हैं उस ऐतिहसिक घटना को विवेचना में.

बहुत कम लोगों को पता होगा कि भगत सिंह के साथ असेंबली में बम फेंकने वाले बटुकेश्वर दत्त काला पानी की सजा काटने के बाद आजाद भारत में पटना की सड़कों पर समाचार पत्र बेचते थे और जीवन यापन करने के लिए बस में कंडक्टर तक का काम करते थे।
उन्हें अपना इलाज कराने तक के पैसे नहीं थे। और गरीबी में तडप तडप के उनकी मृत्यु हुई।
यही हाल लगभग सभी क्रांतिकारियों का था आजादी के बाद सत्ता प्राप्त करने वाले लालची लोगों ने सिर्फ अपना फायदा देखा और देश के असली सपूतों को पूरी तरह से भुला दिया।

Good effort by BBC. Very few people know about this facet of the Indian freedom struggle. When I shared this aspect with people, most would scoff at me because they have never heard of it.
मैं ने ये बिना के बारेमे सालो पहले जाना था हमारे नेताओंने जो अन्याय किया उसके बारेमे बहुत दुख हुआ। लेकिन वो हमारे चरित्र है , जानने पर उस पर कुछभी कहना नही चाहता हु। ये एक मजबूत कारण था ब्रिटिशर गभ्ररा गए थे और उस्कसकी सिंगापुर के बेड़े पर भी विपरीत असर हुई थी।

Thanks for making me recall the story told, retold by my father, who was then an agitating Royal Navy officer himself, court martial and released from the services. Later only few could be rehabilitated. However, when Admiral Kohli was the chief of naval staff, he tracked, invited and recognised the valor and sacrifices of some of those who played part in the naval mutiny...as much as I can recall. My father is no more to elaborate on this subject..As far as I know, the tragedy is that none of those naval officers was recognised and rewarded as a freedom fighter till date.
