1) Damouchari Beach
The producers of "Mamma Mia" needed a location that resembled 1980, since the film was set in that era. It was obvious to choose Damouchari, which had retained the charm of that time without traffic and without large buildings.
Damouchari can be reached via the mountainous village of Mouresi or via the coastal road which connects it with Agios Ioannis. As you enter the village, you will see a wide area with parked cars - this is the parking lot and it is better to leave your vehicle there.
2) Papa Nero Beach
Papa Nero Beach is a long shoreline, rugged with small bays and covered with coarse sand mixed with small shells. The water is turquoise, perfectly transparent.
Agios Ioannis - Papa Nero Beach - Damouchari - Fakistra Beach
Generally considered a moderately challenge route, it takes an average of 3 hours 18 minutes to complete.
3) Plaka Beach
Plaka is a relatively large beach on the north coast of Pelion. A big rocks separates it from the seaside resort of Agios Ioannis, making it a more isolate place surrounded by green hills.
The easiest way to reach Plaka is on foot, from the small harbour next to the beach of Agios Ioannis - after it there is a short path by the sea which goes round the rock and leads to Plaka. If you want to go by car though, it may be a bit tricky.

Looks amazing! My parents and I are hoping to visit the area in June. Would you recommend Agios Ioannis as somewhere to stay, are there some tavernas there to eat at night, and are the nearby beaches all set up with parasols or are they more wild? thanks!
