- The 2004 Bristol to Bordeaux run by the Bristol Owners' Club. This was a rerun of an event held in 1954 when a single Bristol 403 car drove from Bristol to Bordeaux in a day, to mark the 10th anniversary of the French city's liberation from German occupation and bearing a message of goodwill from the English mayor to his French counterpart. The participants this time, 50 years on to the day, followed as far as possible the same route, and even had the same menu in the same restaurant as was eaten in 1954.

The 'Fighter' behind Mr. Crook looks pretty inviting. What a unadorning appearance and engineering of such a capable car. Whereas anything else that fast looks like a Batmobile. And there is ample space to refuel the old wine cellar once you take that one to the Gironde. Thankyou.
It is pleasing to see TV people who have an appreciation of these very fine and very rare cars. They were built locally of course.
TV news was once light-hearted
Quite understandable. In fact, both my immaculate Citroën CXes, my XM and parts of my body I don't need for driving can be traded in for a V8 Bristol at any time. It is just so wonderful, that true Gentlemen's Cars are still built that way. Sadly, Bristol Cars are on the verge of Bankrupt these days, but I do hope, that they make it. In fact, may Bristol cars Ltd. keep living in the past until the end of time!
Superb. Real engineering.....
